My guess is Edward is taking the role of Duck originally. He is trying to hide at the ironworks. However, James found him and started to attack him as the beast. Edward somehow managed to escape whatever reason it is with a loss of one of his eyeballs.

Amazing new chapter, glad to see the Three Railway Engines all alive and Thomas surviving. Only thing I would say is that the engines are moving way too fast, specially Thomas and James during the chase sequence, but other than that the video is nothing but great. Splendid job, looking forward for the next part.
