I do this all the time with water bottles. If they have the small plastic saving lids it only takes about half a turn to unscrew them. You can pressurize the bottles by grabbing the top and bottom twisting it in both hands.

I do the same thing but I fold them in half and sqeeze it in my one hand instead, I find that this works better and allows the bottle more shoots before breaking. Also instead of using to hands I find it typically sufficient to fire it using a quick swipe of my thumb

Without the pressure to preserve the surface tension the bubbles instantly collapse. In other words by releasing the pressure quickly enough the bubbles can't pile up to foam out.
