check out resurgence, its a 3rd person mod on insurgency created by socom players (ON PC) (YOU CAN USE A CONTROLLER AS WELL). 90% of the players are old school socom players. you might even run into one of your old clan buddies. We also have clan wars going as well.

Oh.. The memories. Man this game was and always will be the best online multiplayer game I have ever played. It isn't like CoD,this game is realistic. If you get shot in the face, you die. No respawning,so you have to play smart. Yes there was respawn, but not in regular matches. I cannot describe in words the amount of hours I sank into Socom 2,man it was great. Seeing this game again so many years later such a crazy sense of nostalgia, it's like for a split second I felt like a kid again, totally naive to the dystopic nightmare taking form around us. Then this feeling of sadness after vividly remembering exactly how I felt as a young kid sheltered from the world, before reality and time does its thing. I forgot I was ever even that happy in the first place. It's probably the kush but a crazy feeling that I did not expect to feel from socom gameplay.

Socom will always be known as one of the best multiplayer games in online video game history. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play it until September of 2005 because I was too young, but I remembered watching my brother play it when we got back from school. Clan wars had purposes and you had to try out to be in some of the best clans in the game. Maps were created to be incredibly even to both teams. There were a variety of different game modes you could play like convey or demolition. Ugh, I really wish I could go back and play online again. I know about xlink, but the player population on that is too low.

So we are all here having a nostalgic feeling? I remember getting a headset and it completely changed the way you played also. I remember running this with my Dial Up internet.
SOCOM 1 & 2 were among the first online console shooters. Definitely the best of the PS2 era by a large margin.

Remember how headshots were actually headshots?!!! Best game ever made, most unique online gaming experience/community. I bought that pay to play final fantasy game solely for the PS2 HDD that wasn’t available elsewhere at the time. Then bought those three issues of PlayStation magazine to a get the discs for the “Liberation”, “Seoul” and “Last Bastion” Maps. Shit had to be the first DLC ever on PS2...oh the greatness, I could go on forever 😢

This game was so good. It introduced me to (good) online gaming environments. The kind where u really have to be strategic and be friendly/work together and because of those challenging aspects could play days in a row. A year later WoW released and well...that gave me the same kind of feeling but like 100 times better even. We're 15 years later now and I still love it. Wish SOCOM II multiplayer was still a thing tho.
Great Video and so happy to hear old friends Socom Veterans are still here..Hope we get Re-Unite again one day..can't forget my first online moments since first socom..love of my life.. ZeusAthens (UF) United Forces..56th position on ranking system..over me were many cheaters though..well I'm concidering my self one of the best players of Socom 2 as my rank possition was from fair play and no cheating at all... 56th i say again from the 60.000.. finished when the game finished..loved the Desert Glory..my Ultimate Trick Winning the rounds as terrorist was to take the hostages with me and wait for the enemy to throw grenade and kill the hostages.. :D and using shotgun..mine at the door of the room at the hostages and under in the tunnel...thank you all for the beautiful moments..
