Every time somone suggests our government in the US should run our economy, I make sure to point out our government has had had a surplus one year out of the last century and just a few years ago allowed a large number of public offices and locations to shut down while the parties bickered over the budget. And these people are going to essentially guide and plan out the whole economy?

Great video Henrik and I appreciate you using English. I want to hear more from you but am glad the Swedish people have a voice like yours breaking through the propaganda mist. I've only been to Sweden once, back in my teens 20yrs+ ago and have really been put off returning despite receiving nothing but great hospitality from your fellow countrymen and countrywomen. I don't think I could keep quiet about the outrageous anti-competence legislation that's runs through your country under the guise of gender-equality. Love from the UK.

I do like the Englishfication of it and I give thumbs up for further exploration in that area, mostly all swedes have a base knowledge of enligsh anyway and I do belive you might reach a broader audience, wich you deserve by all rights. Also: re: generosity. It Is proven that conservatives are more generous with their charity money than people of other political persuasions. In the US, this is. It is also proven, that as the government turns to more "do-gooding," people turn away from it, feeling their tax dollars are enough. Not good. Government bureaucracy helps no one.

Absolutely loved it! I've been refuting Socialism for a long time on many of these principles, and the reason I found your video was because I was getting Francescas so I could begin addressing her points in my own video, but then came across this! You pretty much nailed it bro! One little tip I would use 'Socialism Refuted', but if you're happy with 'Rebuked' then cool! 'Refuted' seems more popular here in the states in the context of argument though. Not a big deal and this video is top notch. I'll be sharing and offering some of my own refutations, but I think I'm going to host your video on my channel and send people to you and your channel from it once I'm up and running. So long as you're okay with that! :)

I would certainly agree that a full-on socialism is a bad idea, as have been demonstrated historically. But, I believe that there are some areas that aren't neccesarily made for a free market, and that a full-on capitalist system would fault at those areas as well. Now, before I continue with my argument I'd like to state that I am in no shape or form an expert on any of this, and is still quite young, and I would gladly be corrected if there is anything I've understood wrongly. With that said, some things that are neccesary for a thriving society are not inherently profitable. Good healthcare is vital for a society but can never make profits like the tech industry. A free market version of healthcare would incentivise profits in a buisness not made for it, which drives costs up to a ridiculous amount which drastically reduces availability for the general public. Taxes is a way to keep things like healthcare funded in a simple way which then lets the hospitals and such focus on the important things like quality of the healthcare without severly limiting the availability due to costs. I personally don't see why everyone shouldn't give an amount to make a healthcare system that can help everyone possible. For me that is a given, humanistic, wonderful way of conducting such an affair. Because anyone can become sick, and in this way anyone can get the neccesary help without going broke.

Government intervention into healthcare is what caused the costs to go up. More intervention will only make it worse. Of course if you want your healthcare decisions in the same kind of hands that run agencies like the DMV then we're already to far gone.

Hear, hear! Not that arguments work on socialists, but well put anyways.I'd have thrown in the Misesian calculation problem somewhere to. It is quite hard to make a budget if there are no market prices to use in the process.

Personligen anser jag att Rubin är enormt ointelligent. Han intervjuar för det mesta endast personer med ett högeragenda och ifrågasätter sällan eller aldrig deras åsikter. Hans show har ett tydligt libertarianskt agenda, något som var tydligt när han var med på Joe Rogans podcast och blev läxad av Rogan i allt från regleringar till USAs postservice. För att vara en person som står för öppna samtal och yttrandefrihet och som dessutom kallar sig en klassisk liberal har hans show förvandlats till en åsiktskorridor där varje gäst outmanat får propagera för sina åsikter utan vidare ifrågasättande. Jag rekommenderar i första hand "Counter Arguments" video om Rubin och i andra hand Nightmare Fuels. Det finns personer som har mer integritet än Rubin och som gör något liknande. Exempelvis Joe Rogan.

Joel Lundqvist Agree to disagree I guess. Visst han har fler höger än vänsterfolk i studion men han *har* västerfolk i stolen emellanåt. Jag tror dock inte det or hans val. Andrea har yttrat sig om samma problem; vänsterfolk vägrar nästan uteslutande att delta... Har du en lösning på det är jag idel öra, annars tycker jag att anklaga honom för det bristande underlaget låter misstänkt likt en färgad åsikt. Hur intelligent han är vill jag inte dividera om då det inte kommer vare sig bli bevisat eller leda någonstans men jag tror "ointelligent" är en rätt överdriven formulering.

Mr. Jonsson, I find your video very entertaining and you a well spoken gentleman. I do have a few questions for you, for when and if you have any free time. When it comes to socialism in terms of political policy, there is this in general idea that leaving America completely capitalist was essentially also going to be it's own Achilles Heel. The idea that government shouldn't touch businesses and let them do as they please is a primary argument of the right side of politics, however, Theodore Roosevelt implemented his new deal (as mentioned in the video) in order to put a stop to the greed of private companies, making more fair hiring policies, setting a standard 40 hour work week and having benefits for full time workers. It is speculated that without these new deal guard rails, that pure capitalism would have crushed itself. What is your opinion on this?

America lost it's free market economy in 1913 with the creation of the Federal Reserve and the adoption of fractional reserve banking. After the Fed caused the stock market crash Hoover's heavy government spending caused that crash to turn into the Great Depression. FDR doubled down on that spending and with the New Deal made the depression stretch out over more than a decade.

What do you think about Scandinavian countries taken as example that socialism works?

Voluntary exchange seems to work well.

Logic in it's purest form: HJ. I particularly appreciate the delicate outfit of our host, but I'm still waiting for some one to explain and confirm that Sweden doesn't relys on a market economy, as what is constantly claimed by a selection of self selected 'nowbetters'. Sweden relys on a mixed economy. Putting my hope to HJ to say it out loud, but with his elegance.

And how do u explain the existence of high taxes on Switzerland?

Text book definitions are text book definitions for a reason. Nationalisation of industries isn't necessarily socialism, as proven by totalitarian regimes in the past (hint: not socialist societies, since they are direct democracies). The only reason a planned economy is terrible is because of corporations that source their jobs unethically and can get away with much lower overhead because of their tyranny. I'm seriously baffled that there are grown people calling themselves right libertarian still, if you were to call communism a utopia, then what the actual fuck is anarcho-capitalism?

Henrik Jönsson Would you consider denying medical solutions to those who can't pay to be an effective solution? Of course it is effective on a pure spreadsheet analysis, but on a level of human empathy, letting people die because they're incapable of providing for their care is inhumane. This isn't to suggest that one person must be made to work for another, but perhaps there is a solution in which we all share equal responsibility to spread risk evenly.

Nice notes about socialism, and must admit, I watched your lecture with Johan about capitalism. Nice notes, especially about helping disabled peoples and automation, nice analogy about replaced of ice cubes with fridges. Please read the history of 7eleven company, similar story.

Henrik is brilliant! He got it right. There's nothing like Free Market systems. It's the only way that Russia and China have not completely buckled. They have small Capitalism sectors that provide, for the most part, the Socialistic governments to keep from collapsing altogether.

The problem with socialism is scarcity. The problem with free-market capitalism is abundance. Socialism fails because it can't foresee consumption. Free-market capitalism is a problem because it can only survive through over-consumption. Both are unsustainable for two different reasons.
