Been a social worker fir10years. Run like hell to another degree before it’s too late. It’s not worth it. I’m vision impaired and can’t work in the field due to Never mind social workers run like hell to another degree anything with this stupid degree save your money
Very good information, thank you
Having worked in the homeless sector I definitely recommend having a basic knowledge of what services are out there :) it can be a challenge to navigate as a worker let alone as a client. I really value the points you have made Jasmine and concur with them. Sitting with silence (and listening) is such a useful skill :) Question: do you have any tips on selfcare? I find that it is a bit of a difficult thing to pinpoint 🤔

Maddy Evans heyy Maddy, i have two videos on selfcare. U r right though it’s tricky. I struggle with it too. Let me know ur thoughts on those videos x
I sometimes find social workers overbearing. They aren’t your friends. They are there if you need help. They simply doing their job. But there are some who calls every often in a month and it drives you nuts, that someone. Like come on. I am alright. And stop using random phone calls. Use your direct number. It’s literally like they want to get a raise or something within their company. They trying to act all suspicious or mighty. This happened to me multiple of times. I had to change my social worker often. 😣
thanks for the video! watched it before work and helped jumpstart my day!

Ama, your videos are helpful. You have another subscriber. Why are there so negativities about social workers? I’m in the process of training as one but having second thoughts. If I decide to train I want to be a successful one and one who has no regrets afterwards. I’m training as a nurse at the moment but quitting it this year for social work . I guess I need the reassurance that I’m making the right decision and your videos are helpful. Keep up the good work .

Also, 1 tip I have is that social workers must work with other disciplines. For instance, I'm learning a lot that I have to work with nurses and physical therapists...

@@JasmineAmaa Your tips are load of shit I’m a qualified social worker for 10 years I can’t find work in my chosen field due to my disability other social workers look down their nose at me and treat me like absolute garbage so quick filling new SW with BS not worth it
I am so happy I came across your video, I already has a master’s degree in marketing but I was looking into doing a dual degree program where I would do my MSW along with my JD. Do you think the dual degree is worth it?

amanda worrell hi Amanda it really depends on what you want to do once u finish your degree. It may come in handy if u plan on doing much around law. So maybe look at what field u want to get into after ur degree then use that to decide. Xx
Hi Jasmine, I've been eating your videos for a number of yrs and I find them very useful as I don't come across much social work channels on KZread. Do you have a direct email where topics can be further discussed?
