Social-driven supply chain network design

Watch the second webinar of 2024 in the MITx MicroMasters Program in SCM!
Laura Allegue and Kellen Betts, the course leads for SC2x and SC4x, will be honored to host Dr. Christopher Mejia to discuss the importance of using prescriptive analytics to analyze complex food supply chains.
Highlights
💡 Addressing food malnutrition with AI and optimization to improve access to quality nutrition for underserved communities.
🤝 Collaborating with nutritionists to ensure affordability, accessibility, and nutritional value of food baskets.
🌍 Utilizing local resources to promote plant-based protein consumption and reduce food waste.
🚚 Optimizing supply chain network design using machine learning and operations research to balance production and distribution.
🌱 Focusing on holistic solutions that encompass supply chain management, nutrition, and socioeconomic factors to create long-term sustainable food ecosystems.
Summary: Join us to learn why food issues matter and how efficient supply chains can reduce them. We will discuss how data- and model-driven approaches can improve nutrition in underserved communities in India by formulating an optimization model to distribute plant-based protein, wheat, and rice in the country.
Dr. Christopher Mejia is a Research Scientist at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, director of the MIT SCALE network for Latin America and the Caribbean, director of the MIT Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and founder and director of the Food and Retail Operations Lab (FaROL).
