Soccer's lost legacy | Carte Blanche | M-Net

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯.
In a village in Zeerust in the North West, 16-year-old Kutlwano Motswenyane plays soccer with his friends on a dusty field. He dreams of becoming an international football star. But with scarce resources in this community, his future is bleak. This shouldn’t be the case. In 2010, South Africa hosted the FIFA Soccer World Cup. The reward for its success was a R450-million cash injection to form a Legacy Trust Fund to support and develop the game. The Legacy Trust should’ve become South Africa’s soccer heritage but, more than a decade later, it’s been milked dry, providing no benefit to players like Kutlwano.

If the ruling party and most political parties in the country are corrupt, how do we expect entities like SAFA, whose members are card members of the ruling party, to run efficiently and corrupt free ?

The government must replenish this fund cause the money was lost under their watch. The perpetrators of this crime must be arrested and the key thrown away.

What is the use of commenting if comments are sensored? Do we 'partially' expose or do we fully expose what's hidden? Abo-corruption, fakes, danger etc, must be completely be exposed, not to let people fill the 'missing words'

This is sickening. Given the raw unrealised talent at regional level. All remaining unrealised because of the greed by the top management. Corruption is evil.

Is this really so surprising? People with no real talent are managing these sports bodies like their own little chiefdoms. The only real surprise is that these sport bodies haven't gone completely bankrupt and disappeared from existence.

The minute you have political party politics inside institutions, the end results are a disaster. SAFAs problems started the minute politicians like Jordan & many others started getting involved, SAFA is supposed to be run by former sports personal and academic proffesionals.
