Socal Surf Fishing WHITE SEA BASS w/ Lucky Craft while Hunting Halibut
Спорт
Got lucky with my 4th ever White Sea Bass while surf fishing in Socal using the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110. I was hunting Halibut on this morning when this Ghost hit my LC Super Glow MS MKB (Link for this limited run pattern below!).
In this video I share some tips and techniques for 1) How to identify and subsequently fish structure from the surf and 2) Some best practices for swimming the Lucky Craft.

Thank you for the kind and positive words. I’m def no ghost king, just lucky. As I’ve shared before, your channel is so creative and filled with well made videos. I have so much to learn from seasoned anglers such as yourself. 🙏
Sooooo dope Benjie! I enjoyed your tips on how to work the 110. Definitely gotta rag along next time you hit that spot.

Thanks Gerry!! We will fish again man, stoked that you got on the grunion too!
Absolutely awesome! You guys make it look easy. Since 2012, I have only caught a (1) YFC on a Lucky Craft. That's it. Not even another strike. I can cast fairly well. I study tides, structure, time of day, retrieve speed, Grunion runs. I've been to many different places. I have like 10 LCs, and lost another 5 to various structure - but nada. I'll have to be content to watch your videos, you slay 'em!

Thank you Brian. It’s gotten easier with time for me, my first year was definitely a lot skunking. Bummer that you haven’t got results yet cuz it sounds like you’ve put in the work. The lc def gets bit but the fish have to be there to bite. 🤙

Thanks sokli! It’ll happen brotha, just keep throwing it...but whenever u do, keep learning and adding to your experience. It’s hard to put a finger on it but once you start dialing it in, it can be extremely productive!
Great Video. FYI: Fish gills work in one direction, mostly. So to revive a fish you can just hold them so the surf flow through the gills, e.g. Forth is good, back and forth not so much.
If you know da spot, you know how hard it is to fish an LC in the structure. Sick to see the job gettin done.

i snagged a white seabass recently but he shook me off, was a big one... and have unfortunately snagged some little leopards, i always feel bad, they're so emotional!! great vid....
Good work Benjie. Yeah, Im digging back into your old videos now! Gonna try for some Hali tomorrow here in the C-Bad. When you are fishing rocks, like in this video, what would you guess the depth of the water column your fishing is? Picked up my 2021 license today along with some Lucky Craft magic makers!!!
@BenjieKimFishing
3 жыл бұрын
haha thanks so much for the support man, really appreciate it. C-Bad seems to be such a good stretch to hunt em, how'd you do? My guess is that its around 3'-5', which is perfect for the LC110 imo. I still haven't got my license yet, maybe today!
Bendo!!! Nice fish!!

Thank you! I have not targeted stripers in SoCal though I know they are around. Would be super stoked with a bycatch tho, would not complain one bit! 😜
So educational Benji Thank you Love it when the marine layer is around! SD or further north?
@BenjieKimFishing

Thank you Kate, yes I do enjoy the marine layer, but not when trying to sight fish corbina 😜. Fortunately that wasn't the case this morning! As for location - we'll keep it at "in socal." 😉

Thanks brotha! 🤙🤙
How do you manage snags? I'm always hesitant to break out my lc's
Do you tie the lucky craft directly to your braid? Also, when you do add weights, how much do you add and how is that rigged? LC > bead > bullet? Awesome catch, bet that was so fun.
@BenjieKimFishing
3 жыл бұрын
I remove the swivel from the lc and use a 50 lb tactical anglers clip to clip on the lc. Allows me to switch out patterns quickly. As for weighting the lc, this is how I do it - kzread.info/dash/bejne/fnV1q5WnmJqXo5c.html 🤙
Nice dude it takes sum balls to throw the lucky craft in structure like that 😂
@BenjieKimFishing

🤣 or in my case, stupidity 😜. I’ll do anything if I think something might bite. Appreciate the comment and support brotha, thanks for watching!
Would you give me location of white sea bass for shores fishing? I'm nearby SF Bay area.

@BenjieKimFishing
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much 🤙. Not 100% sure of the question but if I’m understanding correctly, I’m using 30 lb straight braid. I believe the rod is rated for up to 3/4 oz.

That's alotta hours of fishing to bench one of those!!!
How long is your rod? I don’t see it in your gear list?
Do you ever fish orange county? My friend and I have been trying for hali out here but haven't had a lot of luck.
@BenjieKimFishing
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, I live in North OC so yes, I do fish it quite a bit. They are definitely out there but imo, getting the right hali to bite is a grind, doesn't matter who you are or where you fish (tho live bait can definitely speed up the process 😜).
