How to Catch White SeaBass

White Seabass 101:
White seabass are fished primarily with live bait in relatively shallow water, but they will also take a fast-trolled spoon, artificial squid or bone jig. Live squid appear to be the best bait for a white seabass, but large anchovies and medium-size sardines are also good. At times, large white seabass will bite only on fairly large, live Pacific mackerel. Commonly, these young fish are mistakenly called "sea trout" because of their sleek profile and vertical bars or "parr marks". To add to the confusion, these bars fade as the fish grows.

I use Tungsten soft putty weight material and wrap it around a small-diameter straw this way the weight , egg sinker will pull right through the kelp

Im more than positive that I caught a white sea bass at my local pier. It was absolutely massive. I reeled it up and I saw silver with black stripes on the body. The weird thing is that I was bottom fishing with a bloodworm. Don't really know how I caught it. I ended up losing it tho because I didn't have someone to throw my net out for me. Some guy tried to help but he was way to slow with it and the fish popped loose. Pretty angry but it was fun fighting it.

@@evanherrera5948 it was a white sea bass. Some guy caught one a year later. At the same pier! It looked exactly like the one I caught. Juveniles have strong black stripes that fade away as they get older.
Touché on the bat ray, shovelnose, or leopard shark. Caught one too many of these at the bottom
