6/26/21 I went to Oxnard with my cousin, and 2 of his bros. We had live squid, that's candy when they congregate for spawning. We limited out from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30a.m. All from 25lbs. to 35lbs. It was a 65 mile run from Oxnard to Santa Rosa Island. I personally caught 7 keepers but put back them as they were smaller. I lost 4, by unhooking. Epic.

It seems like heavy lures are the worst possible thing for fish shaking the hook out. Whenever possible I would either put some distance between the weight and the hook or just use light lures. Having additional hooks in him also helps but not as much.
