    冷知识:中国古代没有这种肥皂,肥皂是近代传入中国的。一直到上世纪六七十年代中国人洗澡还在用胰子、澡豆。民间将香皂称为洋胰子,将肥皂叫做洋碱。

    皂角历史更悠久, 至少秦汉就开始使用了,但是随着版本更新,皂角在魏晋时期被澡豆取代了,宋代澡豆配方升级,使用肥珠子(无患子),所以这一时期的澡豆也叫肥皂子。

    Where I'm from, we used to drip water through wood ashes to make lye. I've never heard of making it from shells before. Very interesting.

    Yes, that's how it's mostly made throughout the world. I never saw someone use seashells before.

    If anyone see the tv series called “Revolution” where all the world has no power and use 1920s tech, imagine Xhina has to go back to time where soap are “handmade” instead of machine. They found ways to survive the Dark age using ancestor’s handmade techniques past down to generations.

    membuat sabun alami tanpa bahan kimia, tanpa merusak lingkungan, air dan tanah. keren, di jaman kuno China sudah bisa membuat sabun seperti ini. dinegaraku sabun jaman dulu memakai tumbuhan lerak, mungkin di negaramu tidak ada. sejenis buah kecil yang jika digosok akan berbusa. yah tapi karena sudah jaman modern sudah tidak ada orang yang melakukannya lagi 😔

    Why would you need lime/carbonate in your soap recipe? Won't it affect the bath water hardness (turn the water into hard water)?

    The process is correct, but China only has soap in modern times. In ancient times, China used a mixture of pig pancreas and plant ash or water soaked with Chinese honey locust's seed as a cleaning agent.

    貝殼主要成分是碳酸鈣,加熱後會分解成二氧化碳與氧化鈣,氧化鈣溶於水中變成氫氧化鈣(鹼液) 草木灰是鹽類,溶於水呈弱鹼性(鹼液) 其實兩者取其一就可以。 比較奇怪的是加入食鹽,跟皂化反應無關,也跟固化無關,不知道加食鹽的原因為何?

    Adding salt makes a hard soap as opposed to a softer more liquid soap. Wood Ash soap tends to be a bit soft so the salt helps harden it. Sodium lactate is another option.
