    I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to keep posting videos about your Deuce. I am getting a pole building installed mid-summer and plan to buy a deuce as soon as its finished. I really am learning a lot from you. Thanks again!.

    The one that always baffled me, the "ignition" switch. Guys, it's a DIESEL. That means, no ignition! (More correctly, compression ignition. Something you have no control over.) Yes, I've put quite a few miles on Deuces, and would REALLY like to get one. Fun truck to drive! Oh, watched your "brake" video, and had to laugh. Yes, "conventional" wisdom, is when you lose pressure, your brakes lock up. We both know, that isn't how a Deuce works! OK, some of you might not know this, but a Deuce has 4 rifle holders. Those wing nuts on the windshield, will hold an M-16, by the handle. Position the rifle nose down, and slip over the wingnut. steve

    Another thing to when it is getting warm outside is to leave the windows up and lock the windshield out about 4-5 inches. That will actually let fresh air in to kinda pressurize the cab and it will keep most of the engine heat out. Someone suggested it to me and was really surprised at how much cooler it was inside.

    On level pavement driving below 25 MPH if you start out in third gear and low range then shift slowly to high range, you can drive without shifting the gears. Then before stopping slowly shift back to low range. Kind of like a two speed transmission if you get tired of shifting. I learned how to do this from a mechanic at the motor pool. It is easy to do, but you have to use the clutch shift slow and so as not to grind the gears.

    Max safe rpm is 2600. Cruising rpm is where you're comfortable. I've heard around 2200-2300. All trucks are different.

    You can run 100% wmo on a warm day, but as soon as it gets below 60 degrees (Fahrenheit) you should start mixing in some diesel to thin it out. (Pure Wmo makes A LOT of black smoke FYI)

    Have you thought about a two-way radio for your Deuce? How big is the generator? If I were to buy one, I’d probably put a CB and an HF or VHF transceiver in there (I’m a ham operator and I also like old military radios).

    SO what can you do, or should you do, if it is hydro locked when you bump the starter during the engine stop lever pulled out procedure? Is this something that anyone with a deuce can do, to get it out of hydro lock before going to the shop??

  • @deuceandguns

    @deuceandguns

    10 жыл бұрын

    If the engine is hydro locked it's time to start turning wrenches. Easy, fast, but temp fix is to remove all the injectors and crank it to push all the fluid out of the cylinders then reinstall and drive off. The permanent fix is to diagnose the issue and replace where it starting with a leaking injector and ending up at the head gasket.

    So how do you cycle from lo to hi beams? Does that light lever simply enable them and you have to use another switch to turn them on, what's that 3rd lever to the left of the release do? Too small to read the label...

    Awesome!!!! These trucks are so cool! I love old school vehicles (I'm 21) and words cannot describe how bad I want one of these! I am a very independent person. I like knowing that if something happens, and I need to "head for the hills" I can take care of myself. Yes, that's what I was referring to. I made out a "Dim" label but wanted to make sure.

    That's why you should make sure you maintain AND by the way don't EVER disconnect the low air warning alarm like some folks I knew did back in the day. "I hate the loud noise!" Really? No worries. It's only there to keep you from getting KILLED! ;) lol

    I have an answer for you about your tachometer. I was reading a thread on steelsoldiers.com and found a online pdf manual about the danger sticker on the tachometer . It states the Top RPM limit under load is 2600rpm for the 2.5 and 5 ton vehicles. So the danger sticker tail should be at 2600rpm not the 3000rpm that is on your Deuce and a half. Hope this helps. Here is the link: www.steelsoldiers.com/upload/M35/PSMultifuelOperator.pdf P.S. The part about the tachometer is on page 13 once you open the pdf file. You might have to register and log in for it to work. It is free.
