I grew up on Ancient Greek Mythology tales that my mom would read to me every night since I was born, as she later told me once I was old enough to understand. It was almost embarrassing that I didn't learn of the classic kids' fairytales until I went to school. To anyone interested in listening to music inspired by Ancient Greece, I'd suggest giving a band called Daemonia Nymphe a chance. Achilles Achilles... He'll forever be my favorite greek god, well... Demi-god. His story in The song of Achilles made me melt like the snow in spring. The way he'd do anything for his lover Patroclus has me believe in goodness and love. The way he wasn't only fighting his enemy for his ego, but for the ones he love. His hope in becoming the first happy hero everyone will admire and his beautiful way to talk. I could talk about that boy and his pretty golden hair for hours. He's also pretty realistic to real life, he's not like the others. He's, different and special. Sometimes, the think of him make me want all of these greek mythology to exist. I wish he lived, i wish his story was true. I'm sure of if he was real he'd change the aspects of life for everyone, i hope people will figure out how much he deserve the attention of the world. I'm rambling in my talk right now, but i cant stop talking Achilles, and of course, Patroclus my dear. They both deserve better.

@@F1guRas yes, Achilles is honestly kind of ruthless. But he IS the son of Thetis and his mom never was rlly passionate or yk that stuff. Although he could have decided to change but meh. I like Achilles but he is not the good guy in any story. Though, the only person he isn’t ruthless with is his lover Patroclus which is actually good. With all the Greek relationships of abuse and rape, Achilles is the most gently and kind lover I’d say.

Hey everyone, it's nice to see how many people like Greco-Roman mythology! Where I'm from there's a kind of school that focuses on classical studies, so we study ancient Greek and Latin as well as classical literature and culture. It's a difficult kind of school but it's so worth it, to be able to actually read the Iliad or the Odyssey, but also the tragedies, comedies and poems in general. I encourage you to discover what the past has in hold for you; only the gods know how much beauty and how much philosophy is out there waiting to be enjoyed by yet another soul, eager to make you grow, to confort you and gift you emotions from 2500 years ago. Beware though, most myths are quite raw, as they reflect human nature; so do not expect song of Achilles or Percy Jackson family friendly stuff. So yeah, go to the library and contribute to the immortality of ancient gods, heroes and poets; because it's thanks to us, the readers, that they are still alive to this day

so “Achilles, Come Down” became THE song for me and my first real love and i think it’s especially heartbreaking considering how things ended because we still love each other, but events in life pulled us apart and we both met each other at what we thought was our darkest point…and anytime one of us was struggling we would write “soldier on, Achilles” on each others wrists, and now i write it on my own wrist and wonder if he does the same.

He stood upon the precipice, upon a cliff of dizzying descent with a fall into raging waters and jagged granite spears. Or was it a another kind of precipice? That of deranged lucidity, a paradox, understanding amidst the madness of it all. Blood spattered his form. His flesh, sculpted as if from marble, was tainted by ichor of lesser men. But were they truly lesser? They must have been, they had lost, and he had won after all. Is that not so? He glanced back at the carnage he had wrought, at the tomes of untold stories left behind in the corpses of his foes. "Perhaps it isn't so." His voice was as smooth as honey, salted with the dregs of Olympus itself. *"We liken you to a painting, did you know? Strokes of ink belaying what it is to be so utterly mortal."* He turned, eyeing the green-feathered owl perched upon the rocks nearby. "You again..." He shook his head. "I am no painting." *"Then what are you?"* The wind howled as if in mourning. It carried with it the stench of death, and tragedy... and *war* . "A museum," he replied softly. "A museum of all the things I wish to forget." The creature did not respond, only watching as the soldier wrenched his sarissa free from the rock he had embed it in. Watching as he turned away from the cliff's edge, and walked towards the sounds of ringing steel and dying men once more.

Thank you so much for this. I just finished reading The Song Of Achilles and I am now lost in a depression because of it 😭 This playlist is helping me process all the emotions that are overwhelming me. It’s like a hollow despair of sadness and depression that I don’t know how or if I will ever come out of.. I’ve had real life crises that I’ve had to go to therapy for and I just cant believe a book has thrown me back into a state that I thought only a traumatic ‘real life’ experience could ever make someone feel. It is so deep and raw.

Achilles, Come Down (Gang of Youths) Lyrics: 0:00 Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? You're scaring us and all of us, some of us love you Achilles, it's not much but there's proof You crazy-assed cosmonaut, remember your virtue Redemption lies plainly in truth Just humour us, Achilles, Achilles, come down Won't you get up off, get up off the roof Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? The self is not so weightless, nor whole and unbroken Remember the pact of our youth Where you go, I'm going, so jump and I'm jumping Since there is no me without you Soldier on, Achilles, Achilles, come down Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? Loathe the way they light candles in Rome But love the sweet air of the votives Hurt and grieve but don't suffer alone Engage with the pain as a motive Today of all days, see How the most dangerous thing is to love How you will heal and you'll rise above Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, jump now You are absent of cause or excuse So self-indulgent and self-referential No audience could ever want you You crave the applause yet hate the attention Then miss it, your act is a ruse It is empty, Achilles, so end it all now It's a pointless resistance for you Achilles, Achilles, just put down the bottle Don't listen to what you've consumed It's chaos, confusion and wholly unworthy Of feeding and it's wholly untrue You may feel no purpose nor a point for existing It's all just conjecture and gloom And there may not be meaning, so find one and seize it Do not waste yourself on this roof Hear those bells ring deep in the soul Chiming away for a moment Feel your breath course frankly below And see life as a worthy opponent Today of all days, see How the most dangerous thing is to love How you will heal and you'll rise above Crowned by an overture bold and beyond Ah, it's more courageous to overcome You want the acclaim, the mother of mothers (It's not worth it, Achilles) More poignant than fame or the taste of another (Don't listen, Achilles) But be real and just jump, you dense motherfucker (You're worth more, Achilles) You will not be more than a rat in the gutter (So much more than a rat) You want my opinion, my opinion you've got (No one asked your opinion) You asked for my counsel, I gave you my thoughts (No one asked for your thoughts) Be done with this now and jump off the roof (Be done with this now and get off the roof) Can you hear me, Achilles? I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you Achilles, come down Achilles, come down Throw yourself into the unknown With pace and a fury defiant Clothe yourself in beauty untold And see life as a means to a triumph Today of all days, see How the most dangerous thing is to love How you will heal and you'll rise above Crowned by an overture bold and beyond Ah, it's more courageous to overcome Midas (Skott) Lyrics: 7:05 Midas, you've got me thinking 'bout the story You've everything you've ever wanted But will you ever get to hold me? Doesn't it get lonely? And Midas, you're used to hearing that you're something Above the ordinary, golden You wanna be the one and only Doesn't it get lonely? But you won't get away with it No, you won't get away with it 'cause I I look at you, I'm seeing that you're just as lost as I Know, I'm not afraid of it No, I'm not afraid to close my eyes Oh, how I wish that there's was a way that we could Always, always live for always Till we die together Say you want to be here You wanna be young You wanna be my love Always be in my love Say that you remember Feeling the same about me Midas, you've got me thinking 'bout the legends You know you'll join 'em up in heaven But if you stay with me, no hurry I will make it worth it Midas, you're like a monument, a statue No man on earth could ever hurt you No, you don't ever have to worry Why do I still worry? And you won't get away with it No, you won't get away with it 'cause I I look at you, I'm seeing that there's something in your eyes Saying you're afraid of it Saying you're afraid of passing time Oh, how I wish that there's was a way that we could Always, always live for always Till we die together Say you want to be here You wanna be young You wanna be my love Always be in my love Say that you remember Feeling the same about me Always, always live for always Till we die together Say you want to be here You wanna be young You wanna be my love Always be in my love Say that you remember Feeling the same about me Icarus & Apollo (Ripto) Lyrics: 11:05 Apollo showed me the sun Told me not to fly too close Or else I would be one With the people on the land Icarus, show me the moon Point me in a new direction Far away from you Avoiding all the aftermath Daylight shuffles in Cascading through the open door And dancing on your lips Where you held your cigarette I remember when You told me you were afraid to die And then you grabbed my hand Just above the kitchen table So, Apollo, bring me back To the place I was before I met you And Icarus, lead the way To where I need to go I hear your footsteps now Barefoot soles on the bathroom floor And on my way out I told you I would never leave

@@strawberrymilkshake9993 He's right. Achilles wasn't gay. He was just mourning the death of his closest friend. As you might not know, one's closest friends are like family, most of the time. And so, when they die it's such a pain that you don't know how to deal with it. Sometimes you cope with it internally, so people think you're okay; sometimes those feelings can't be hidden, and you wish they weren't dead. Maybe you cry all day, maybe you don't. With a lover or with a boyfriend/girlfriend that doesn't happen because, yes, you are sad, you lost someone you loved, somebody important, and it isn't as hard to cope, they aren't as close to you as somebody you consider family because they won't leave you, whereas, with a lover or partner, they can leave you.

Yeah it’s French haha. This lyrics are quite dark… They are about depression, and a man jumping off a roof after his daughter was killed a couple of years ago. They’re talking about a battery and a promised land too. That’s all I can make out since it’s in the background
