Although colour analysis is backed by colour science (or theory) it is also a much more a subjective matter (because we all perceive colour and “harmony” differently, even us consultants might sometimes disagree). There’s nothing wrong with that at all but I think many people don’t realise this, it doesn’t have to be so black and white! 💁‍♀️ no matter what, it’s meant to be a FUN and enlightening way to make room for individuality and to realise that there are other colours out there than just black 😇 I hope you’ll enjoy this video - thanks in advance for watching! ❤️

@@albiesspaceby colour science (maybe science is a bit of a wild word to use there, theory might be better) I mean the Munsell Colour system which describes colour based on their depth, undertone and clarity 😊 colour analysis tries to translate this system onto human beings as a way to find which colours make you look most striking. Some people believe in this approach, others don’t.

I was typed as a Summer in the 90’s and updated this to a Soft Summer when Colour Me Beautiful added expanded categories. I am a believer that this system helped me build a wardrobe of colours that suit me and that I feel great in. Now that my warmer hair highlights have turned silver, I notice that many of the True Summer colours look great on me as well, so that is a whole new area to explore as more silver comes in!

For me colour analysis has meant a healthier and more sustainable relationship with my wardrobe. There are hundreds of colours and shades! Not having the slightest colour direction in my purchases made me end up with dozens of items of different colours which were very hard to mix and match. I got my first colour analysis last spring. That has allowed me to declutter and channel my purchases around a few colours (neutral + accent) which are all matchable! For me it's not necessarily about the accuracy of the technique, but the chance it gives you to narrow down the colours you like and make sure that all your clothes are mixable and matchable, which has hugely helped my transition away from fast fashion!

When I was in high school (I think I was 15 or so) I attended my friend's birthday party. Her mother was a colour analist and treated each of us to a twenty minute coaching session. It was mostly for fun, but the result and the tips she gave me helped me choose the right colours for the rest of my life. I remember her saying: 'When you ever get married, please go for an ivory white dress instead of washing machine white' and 'Please always choose chocolate brown over black'. I am now 45 and follow you, because the theory has developed further and I realize the result may change over the years, so I want to stay up to date. Thanks for all the inspiration!

It‘s baffled me since the 80s… Now in my late 50s I‘ve devised a system that works for me. I love colour, all the colours, and most colours have both cool and warm variations. I assign a colour to each month and work around that with a capsule that has all the benefits of a minimal wardrobe but all the fun of colour. Some items are multicoloured and work in multiple months and most colours can be combined into outfits that work in different months. I don’t think there is anything that only gets one month of wear… Currently, it‘s brown for November from chestnut to darker grey browns, and they go with lots of other colours in my closet, the outfits just all begin with brown this month - red, pink, mustard, navy…. lots of combos make me happy! 😊

I had color analysis a couple of years ago, and think it was well worth it. Somewhat ironically, it basically just reinforced what I already intuitively knew. Almost all of the pieces already in my wardrobe were consistent with the analysis. Still worth it, because it boosted my confidence and I also discovered a couple of new colors I had not realized would also work for me. Plus, it was a lot of fun!

Yeah, this describes my experience with colour analysis! I had been mostly picking clothes that work with my colouring already, and having a second opinion on why some items didn't work equally well was really useful.

I had my colors done a few years ago and went ALL IN. It was helpful to see my best colors, but I felt restricted. Then I joined your master class and saw that your method worked better for me. I purchased my palette from you and am much more comfortable with selecting colors…I believe in color analysis. BUT we also need to listen to our inner voices,too. You have really gently helped me look my best! I also believe you are a great example to follow and I enjoy seeing the new colors you add

Yep. I want the rules. I want the rules to follow so I have a wardrobe that just goes together and suits me. I want a simplified life.

I put color analysis in the same category as the "rules" for dressing different body shapes: they are tools to be used if/when you feel they serve you, and ignored when they don't. Sometimes I want to wear an outfit that makes me feel a certain way, even if it isn't the most flattering thing I could have chosen because of the color or the way it fits my body. And sometimes (okay, rarely tbh) I am more concerned with looking good to other people, in which case I will stick a little more closely to the colors and styles prescribed for apple-shaped Summers. It's all good :)

I'm a clear winter and have always been drawn to these colours. I have worn other colours but never felt confident in these outfits. Something was just off. If I do ever want to wear a colour outside of my colour palette, I wear it on my bottom half away from my face. I certainly do not feel at all restricted. Thank you for sharing 💗

You said all the important things, I think. To me getting my colors done helped me find several colors I REALLY like on myself. I am a neutrals-girl though. I wore black, grey and white before and kinda knew they were not "right" for me. Now I wear beiges and browns (mainly, but not only from my own palette). I also learned to borrow some colors from other palettes and which of them work better than others, e.g. chocolate brown, soft coral red, a specific shade of green, even some shades of rust. I got typed in a 12 season system, and came out to be Light Spring - which in your system might be closest to light, warm and bright (or light, bright and warm? I'm not sure). What was the most crazy thing to me that "happened" after I got my colors done and started to understand my palette and the colors within, I noticed a shift in my style preferences. Not a huge one, but still visible. I also started to wear more accessories like jewelry and belts which I haven't worn in quite a long time. I can't pinpoint why that happened, but it's fun. I also learned that sometimes the most simple pieces are those that were missing from my wardrobe and having them in a neutral from my palette makes them a very versatile staple piece. I do still have black, grey and white in my wardrobe though. E.g. I got a black blazer in a fit that is just perfect for me and I would never get rid of it just because it is black. I haven't found another piece that is in such a perfect shape (for my body shape and liking), so it is allowed to be black. Same goes for a long hooded jacket that I wore a lot ever since I have it. I am not super strict about it anyways. But it taught me a lot. If I am insecure about a certain color, I now know why and don't let anyone else talk me into buying that garment because they think it looks amazing on me. They usually just look at the shape and that's not the only factor I judge when getting a new piece or when choosing what to declutter and give away. And honestly: Anyone who loves to create fashion looks, editorial looks and aesthetics that are not "going by any rules" might wanna learn the principles of color analysis too, because it can teach you how to create these aesthetics on yourself and other people. Coz what makes one look grungy, edgy, bubbly, might not make another person look that way. (It can help you draw inspiration from the right sources for you too.) And another thing that happened after I got my colors done: I've always tried to figure out my true style. The one for my day to day life, not for photoshoots or parties or events. And whenever I started to grow my hair to a style that would suit my facetype, started wearing lines that would suit my bodytype etc. something felt very off. And most of the time I went straight back to my old style. Problem was: I can not wear very minimal, natural make up and a natural looking hair color and wear tons of black and edgy clothes. That clashes and makes my face look faint. And that was what I didn't like, which made me go back to wearing heavy black eyeliner and bleach my hair to a pale, cool toned blonde. Now that I know, I changed my hair to a slightly darker (but still light) and neutral-warm blonde (like the one I had as a kid) and it's very easy to wear minimal make up with what I wear now. The hairstyle I have in mind is also working with the overall look I am going for (will take a few more months to grow and shape though). So to me, color analysis was just a missing link that made me understand things I did not understand before. I do not feel restricted in any way shape of form, on the contrary, it's a feeling of freedom and new ways to explore fashion from another POV.

I did a self analysis a long time ago. It helped me focus in colour families, otherwise coming out if a uniform school I was going crazy buying everything I vaguely liked. I had no idea what I truly liked and what looked good on me.

I have been following Diane In Denmark for years and she uses a similar color system. Both of you have a relax approach to it which I really appreciate. My goal is to get wardrobe simplified so I’m so glad i found your channel as well. Thank you for all the inspiration 💕

I wear friendly colors near my face. When I want contrasting colors I wear them for bottom, shoes, or bags; with neutral color top.

I feel you! I've been wearing white/black/grey my whole life. I hate drawing attention to myself. Plus, I'm a minimalist so I wear top black pieces and jeans 99% of the time. BUT I was about to color my hair and I ended up landing on the color analysis... And I experimented in front of natural light with my camera different colors. Oh boy do I look dull and sick with some colors... like... YOU GUESSED IT! BLACK! It washes me out... now bright red looks GORGEOUS on me. But a cooler red does not work. Turns out I'm a bright spring. And I do want to look alive and healthy, not like a zombie. So I'm gonna find myself some neutrals that actually work for me. Like the right shade of navy blue or chocolate or green. And why not, maybe a bright red top piece. I mean, people can wear whatever color they want, that's perfectly fine. BUT not believing something that they can actually SEE with their own eyes?!?!?! Sounds a bit crazy to me. I mean, wear anything you want. But some colors will make you look healthy and some others will make you look like a zombie. And I can prove it with myself.

I’m hoping to get my colour analysis done for my birthday! Always self analysed as a winter but the more I look into it the less sure I am of whether some of the winter palette is overwhelming on me and actually considering that I could be somewhere in the bright/clear warms category instead. Honestly, probably completely off but excited to find out what season suits me 😂

I honestly think more stylist and makeup artists SHOULD learn basic color theory, like the one artists use. The concepts of value, saturation, contrast, harmonious color palettes, color is relative, etc. And also about principles of design, the one graphic designers learn (especially form, shapes, balance and composition). Because creating outfits and style and playing with that is often just those two combined + personal taste of whoever is styling or wearing the clothes. (Of course always taking into account the lifestyle of the person wearing the clothes too.) They don't have to learn advanced color theory and science or whatever 😂 I mean, they're not printing experts or logo designers, but I do think these theories can be really helpful to understand what looks good or and why some looks don't quite work. But personally I think color analysis is pretty much all fluffing up actual color theory with BS. I do appreciate your approach much more, Signe. Because you tell someone what colors match you but also about such important and verstile concepts like saturation and value, which a lot of normal color season analysis skip. Like you said, using color theory like a tool not a rulebook. I personally love people who break those "rules" too. I loove a contrats like for example a platinum blonde and like a total black or vibrant red look. The most fashion forward people wear so many clashing things! I think a lot of style is just finding things that don't go together but you make them go together becaus they're both YOU. I think that's when personal style comes, when you understand the rules and instead of sticking always to what matches your colors, you tweak it to fit YOU. I love how you teach for example how to make your "worst colors" work because sometimes we love our bad colors ❤ I technically shouldn't wear pastels by most color seasonal standards but I love a pastel on pastel look. And no one can stop me! 😊 So for someone who already knows what they like color analysis can be restrictive, but for peoppe who truly have no idea what to do, it can be a good guide on where to start.

I instictively always wore "my colours"... except for black which I abandoned almost completely since I found out that I am a soft spring! I love colour analysis and it is really interesting how someone "lightens up" with the right color... the grey/green, sage colour looks great on you and I am happy you opt for lighter colours for yourself now as they look superb on you! baci da Roma

I was typed in the 80's as a winter, then did a virtual a few months ago, and was typed a true autumn... Shock!!! In disbelief, I then found someone local, who uses 18 categories with the absolute Colour system. I draped as an Intriguing. Warm, Smokey and light. Doesn't quite fit into the traditional season groups, but I can see how it relates. and ties together my grey hair, and my warm undertone.

30 years ago I was ‘soft autumn’ but as my hair has changed to blonde- I haven’t wanted to go grey! - I was analysed using the system you use and although I’m still soft and warm but light is dominating. What sold the idea for me was when I saw the different whites against my skin- bright white looked awful! But ivory or a softer white looked so much better and those colours and a light grey are good neutrals for me.

I follow the CMB system since the 80’s when the book came out. It really does simplify things. I do look best in muted warm colors. I’m an “Autumn”.My biggest problem is finding “my” colors!! They seem to be the least available wardrobe colors in stores!!!!!

I bought color yesterday! It’s a really pretty muted mauve-ish shaket. … I did get an all black cozy sweatpants and joggers too. Lol. Black was the coziest color for me.

I'm really intrigued by this. I haven't gotten an analysis done but it does open my mind to wearing lighter toned colors. My mom used to tell me they washed me out but I think the opposite

It is really interesting. I wore a school uniform for 8 years and had had it with gray. So there on my palate was a light silvery gray. I went to Macys to find a gray blouse to prove to myself that gray was NOT for me. I bought the blouse.

Hey Signe, I just subscribed to your channel :) I think your videos are gonna be super helpful!

I like the Color Me Beautiful system because it uses the science-based Munsell color system. As a scientist, this is the one we use in our work. There are many people offering their “own unique” systems, these are mostly those who don’t use any color theory. I would avoid these, and stick with one of the well-reviewed, widely-used systems based on science. Many of these “unique” ones just use CMB anyway and change the terms to their invented ones, they are ripping off the well-researched and documented systems. I always want to give credit for intellectual property to the creators, not the cheap imitators.

I had a professional, in-person (no such thing as the Internet then!) CMB analysis 40 years ago and have always found it very useful. I use it as a basic guide, and have refined my recommended palette over the years. I dropped the grays, which I just don’t feel good in, and the purples, which I found too difficult to style and go a bit lighter in general, adding more white, in my recommended colors. If I want to wear an unflattering color, like black, I just make sure I have something lighter or white near my face and wear some minimal makeup, which I don’t do everyday since I retired. We shouldn’t feel forced to wear any color we don’t enjoy, the analysis is a guide, not the Constitution or the Bible! I think if one hates wearing the recommended colors, or can’t see any difference, it’s worth asking for a second analysis. Companies want their customers to be happy, they should do this for a steep discount, if not for free. Being human, even a well-trained analyst can make errors.

I think I need to do this. I’m an exercise in contrast. As I’ve gotten older my hair has turned naturally a very platinum color. It has lots of silver mixed with a beige blonde. It looks like yours, but whiter. My skin however is an olive tone and I have hazel green eyes. These two things seem very contrasting. So my hair looks good with certain colors and my skin and eyes with other colors. It’s very hard to figure out what to wear. Both gold and silver jewelry seem equally complimentary. I have a wardrobe almost exclusively of muted neutrals. I do know that navy looks great and black, not so much, it enters the room before I do 😂.

I’m so intrigued about colors and seasons. I definitely am cool toned, but unsure beyond that.

I think color analysis can be a helpful tool. As far as the seasonal color palettes goes...well, I think it was just a catchy simplistic way to categorize colors into an easy to visualize system for the masses. If you say "autumn/fall colors" most people know what you mean & have an idea of what they are. Same for jewel tones. Swatches are really helpful for comparison since judging a color's depth, saturation or overall temperature can be difficult without having a reference (all colors have a warm/cool scale as well as a value & saturation scale) People who are definitely cool or warm probably have the easist time figuring out what works for them, same goes for light & deep. It gets a little more complicated for those of us somewhere in the midddle or the goldilocks zone as I like to call it lol.

As we approaching winter and bad weather, the black trousers and black boots will show up again and with them headache on what color wear them with , specially for those of us who want to avoid high contrast. I got my colours done with a Colour Me Beautiful analyst cus I was really struggling to find a camel trench to suit me. Hilariously by the end of the consultation we concluded that my colours were Clear and Contrasting with a warm undertone and actually camel just isn't in my good colours 😂😂 Wish I had done it sooner - would have saved me a lot of money!

I was a natural auburn/red head and green eyes, but now I’m a natural (never dyed my hair) blonde/grey… so I get confused on do I concentrate on the colour I was or what I am now! My skin tone and eye colour is the same but my hair has naturally changed… love your channel 😘

I had colour analysis in the 80s. The woman who did it covered my hair completely. It confirmed that many of the colours i wore were right for my skin tone. I now have grey hair but i can still wear many of those same colours. Some colours that i wear in summer are not good for me in winter.

Does covering hair make any sense? If you're not dyeing it, it will always be there, around your face, so whatever color you wear needs to harmonize with your hair too.

Thank you for this video, im in a color transition from full black, i am a latina cathaloged as deep autum and little by little i am adding color to my wardrobe, even if the palette i suposed to follow doesnt like me. Finding my colors takes time but i have to get used to as transitioning from black is complicated. My goal is to get the perfect winter jacket in a color that makes me brighter. I'm a autumn color too and muy winter coat is in an army Green or dark olive Green shade. I just love it and it also pops among the black and navy of the typical winter coats without being too bright

I was colour analysed in the 80's as a Summer with Autumn flow throughs and I think this has helped me over the years. I am not sure how it would equate to the softs and clears, etc that seem to have been added by CMB.

Just by how you describe it I think you’d be a soft summer, which is the sister season to soft autumn, so some of the colours are a little towards warm.

I just realized something. Yesterday while shopping I saw a cute cream cardigan. I knew it wasn’t for me. I think it was too “clear” and not “soft” enough for me. I like soft.

I'm new to tonal color analysis. Looking at the image at 7:07, am I correct in assuming that everyone lands on a sliding scale for each of these three criteria? For example, could someone find herself somewhere between Light and Deep in a similar way that she might find herself as Neutral between Warm and Cool? (if that's the case, I am likely Deep-Neutral-Clearish. I just know that being too Clear is overpowering and Soft absolutely greys me out.)

I’d like to purchase the color drapes for all four seasons, with their Pantone color name. Is that possible? I don’t see it on Amazon.

Good Morning. I really hope you see my comment and will reply. I just have one question. I have very pale skin which I think may be more neutral or if not then cooler. This is paired with very dark brown eyes and technically dark blonde hair. I've seen another colour analysis company video where they say if you are a winter (which Im pretty sure I am) then you should never go blonde. I went blonde to hide the grey coming out in March. Realised it was too much and toned it down. IAll in a salon. I will add that my friends love it when I have blonde in my hair. They say it really suits me. I try to get more beige blonde or ashier tones. I also wear mainly black, grey and navy My question is: How can I tell if I'm really a jewel winter and can it change as I'm aging? I hope to get a reply x

I have had my colours done 3 times now. In the early 80's - I was typed as a Spring but felt there was something off. Then had them done by "Colour me Beautiful" in the late 80's and was typed as a " True Luminescent Summer", which I have liked until the last few years. As my hair has started to grey, my colours have felt like they are not working - I see the colour enter the room before me. So I recently had my colours done again, and was told I am a Warm Autumn. Yikes - help. 🤣So now I am not sure what to believe. My favourite colours are blues, teals, purples and greens. I have super pale skin, clear blue eyes and had very dark brown hair. I read that Colour me Beautiful has switched to the tonal system. Is there a way to find what a True Luminescent Summer would be in their new Tonal System?

I understand you must be really confused! I’m not sure what that type translates to, tonal system is a little different. Most people who go grey will find they look more striking in cooler colours, some can be soft/cool others can be more bright. But a cooler undertone will become dominating for many people who go grey. So maybe that’s why you don’t feel sold on the idea of being a soft autumn, that palette comes with a lot of warm colours 😄 hard to say when I haven’t seen you but that’s my initial thoughts, hopefully it doesn’t make you more confused 🙏🏻🥰

I am a little bit confused, because I think that the three subgroups of the winter palette suits me well. Is that mean that maybe I'm a true winter?

How can a virtual analysis be accurate without actually seeing the color on? I have always wondered about that

I made a colour analysis some years ago and I really liked it, but for me it was so hard or even impossible to see the differences between the colours on me. Even the colours gold and silver, I could'nt have said which would look better an me. I came out as a summer type and I got my pallet. But now I find it so hard to know which coloures definitely match for me, because the real colours of items are always a bit different to the ones in the pallet. And I never see any difference between a cold and a warme tone?! So for me it's really hard to find the right colours because each colour has a warm and a cold version of it, hasn't it? So I'm confinced that a colour analysis is a good thing but anyway hard to put into "shopping reality".

People telling you "all colors have two versions" are trying to teach you calculus without explaining algebra or even multiplying first. Imagine a color wheel, or better, find one that is a full circle with grey in the center. Grey is hard to find... so maybe just use one with white, like this one: www.techgrap ple.com/online-tools/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/color-picker.jpg . There are some colors that are inherently warm, like yellow, red, orange, and some that are inherently cool, like blue and green. As you can see, they are on the opposites of the color wheel. The warmest color is something like red-orange, and the coolest is blue, or blueish green. "Warm version of the color" usually means that you take the base color and you move it towards the warm colors. Often "warm version of cool color" and "cool version of warm color" can be made just by lowering the intensity/saturation of the color (moving it to grey), but if you want to preserve the intensity, then choose the color that is closer to the other side of the color wheel. Traditional rtists, especially watercolourists, often use two versions of the primary colors for their mixing. Ultramarine (a little purpley blue - so, closer to reds) for warm blue, Phthalocyanine blue for cool blue (it's definitely less red than Ultramarine and sometimes a bit greenish), Cadmium Yellow for warm yellow (it is a bit orangey), Lemon Yellow for cool yellow (it's "very yellow" but you can see there is no red there, and maybe even a hint of green), Cadmium Red for warm red (it's orangey), and Quinacrodone Rose or Magenta for cool red (gets closer to the violet/purple categories). Google all those names and you'll see the difference. When you look at the color, you want to see where it's located on the color wheel. I was glad to have a color analysis by a Color Me Beautiful consultant, because now my clothing choices have been condensed and simplified. Shopping is so much easier now that I only look for those enhancing colors. I feel validated after previously wearing colors that were all over the map and never feeling comfortable.

@@aquagirl8097amazing! I find that it’s given me so much direction too, instead of having every single crayon as an option in the “colour box” ironically enough it feels more liberating to me, only having to look for a more specific selection 🙏🏻

I have a lot of redness in my skin undertone…not rosacea just redness. I can’t seem to find any grouping of colors that fit so I just go with black. 😭

I have the same problem. Grey and cool blue look nice in my portrait zone. But i avoid bright white and all shades of red and yellow. Black, btw I also like only in my buttom zone, as It makes me look tired.😅

I started out getting my color analysis in the 80's and was told I was a "summer". I had pale skin and dark brown hair. Now I'm completely grey with my pale skin and wonder if there are changes I need to make to my palette. 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like you are becoming more cool with the grey hair to me, so maybe try exploring those a little more! Teal, bluish greens (like emerald turqouise), cool toned pinks etc. might look really good on you now, maybe even with a little more clarity and in slightly more contrasting combinations than what you have been used to with the summer palette which is more muted 😊 just a hunch! Lots of people who go grey will find they look beautiful in cooler colours!

@UseLess_dk thank you, Signe! I'm really drawn to aqua and acquired a few pieces in that color, over the summer. And you're right, cool pinks and blue also look good on me. Instead of black, I find I look better in navy blue and have quite a few pieces to mix with my lighter tones. Grey is another good color on me but it has to be a cool grey with no yellow in it. I look dreadful in beige or khaki but I can wear those on the bottom, not close to my face. Oh and turquoise looks great on me too! Also, I used to be able to wear both gold and silver but now, I find I look much better in silver. Thanks for your insight! ❤️

I really can not say what I am. I really thought I was a cool type and I thought it was summer. I was confused when I was experimenting with make/up because using green or purple especially the darker colours are not good for me while the lighter oranges were good in my eyes at least XD. Which confuses me because I don´t think that should happen when you are a cool type and the orange and yellow were definitely warm toned. With my clothing I really liked the light purple, but I also like the light warm green on me so.... XD

I was typed as Clear, cool and light. What would that translate to in the 12 season system? I can't seem to figure it out...

Maybe you are a Light Summer? If you see the 12 types in a circle, Light Summer is next to Light Spring. Spring seasons are clear and warm. So if you see the circle of the seasons like a clockwork, maybe you are in the hour of Light Summer but in the half not in the beginning of the hour. Make this sense? Sorry, I hope you understand what I mean, English is not my first language 😅

​@@VanCrane Thanks for your answer! :) that would make sense but the analyst told me that me I need to wear strong, saturated colors and lots of contrast, so not sure this falls into the Light Summer category. I think I was probably mistyped, as I was later analysed twice (virtually) as a "Cool Summer"... Its just hard to believe that an in-person analysis could be wrong...

@@frekvenca No, that’s the opposite of Light Summer. Cool Summer has some clarity, but not so much contrasted as a Winter type. It’s rare, but blonds could be a Winter, I saw a video from Sarah Ryan here on YT, maybe you check her example. BTW Cool Summer has Cool Winter as a sister season, some colors works on both types 😉

I'm tired of always ending up a Spring because of my hair color. I'm a cool-skinned strawberry blonde. I also have freckles (faded) but my skin is very very light almost silver but with a lot of red. I look terrible in salmon, orange, gold, tan, chartreuse, light green and yellow. I look great in magenta and amazing in periwinkle, gray, cool green and olive green (not brown.) I also look great in cool pink. I can wear rust, but most warm colors clash with my hair. I look good in black, but also in navy and not so hot in chocolate. I like wearing colors that don't play up the red in my skin. I've just given up with the color people, who all want me to wear cream and yellow--eww! But I want to do my own video on redheads.

I think what finally made color analysis really click for me was finding the tonal system and realizing that everyone is somewhere on a spectrum between light and dark, soft and deep, and cool and warm. And not every combination is completely covered by a seasonal system that only recognizes 12 (or sometimes 16) combinations. Discovering where I roughly fall on these spectra has been a lot more helpful than a seasonal approach, as no season ever seemed to fit completely. Also, I don't think the idea that colors need to be "harmonious" is always helpful. Not just because we all perceive colors slightly differently, but sometimes you want to create contrast rather than harmony. Plus, colors that are not your "best" colors can still look good! Of course we all have colors that *do* make us look sick or washed out, but most colors outside of your palette will still look fine. In the end I think color analysis can be a great tool, but it's not for everyone and that's okay.

It’s confusing to me that anyone wouldn’t know what colors look good on them, just through life experience.

I used to love style and sustainable fashion (former member of Det Kollektive klædeskab, user of Trendsales and other thrift shops). But since going grey, I simply just get dressed. Most of the joy has completely gone, because having gone grey/salt and pepper, and still having warm toned skin/golden it is just impossible for me to figure out, when you don’t feel like wearing clear crystal colors.

In the beginning of your video, the image of you draped in Magenta next to an image of you draped in coral....definitely the coral is better for you. Your skin looks healthier and brighter and uniform in color. It blends with the coral really well. The magenta...I can see slight dark shadows all over your face that are not flattering. When I wear black, it does the same thing to my face but even worse. I might could wear a black jacket if I wore it open with a shirt or sweater that really warmed my skin like a muted coral or a medium peach color. I have no clarity in my coloring what so ever. I call myself muddy. My eye color is muddy my hair is muddy and my skin is muddy. I have so many colors colors in my hair and eyes that it's hard to tell what color they are. My eyes change color with whatever I'm wearing. I can't wait for my hair to go all grey because for once in my life I will know what color it is. My skin is closer to neutral with a strong warm undertone. I can't wear cool colors at all, but can't wear gold either. To wear silver I have to wear a dull silver color like Stainless steel jewelry. It can't be bright or shiny, but it can't have black in it either. I finally collected material and draped myself while taking selfies to see what colors flattered me and it worked. It's made such a difference for me. I've picked out my favorite colors and will be only buying those colors to make dressing easier and know that I will look good whatever I decide to wear. I think that I'm a soft autumn. But all red, pink, purple colors and look awful on me, no matter what value or hue they are and that really surprised me. I took two stuffed garbage bags of clothing to the thrift store and I feel so much better to be rid of clothes that I didn't wear anyway and I didn't know why I disliked them!!! It does help to know and understand. I've learned so much thanks to consultants like you. Ty for sharing your vast knowledge, it is appreciated.
