Had to leave a message (which I know is on the wrong video). But I have to thank you for introducing me to Larry Krohn. I did not get a whole lot out of the interview, except it made me curious enough to look up some of his videos. I now totally LOVE this guy. Extremely helpful training videos, practical, fair to the dog. Thanks!!!!

I was training my 16 year and 8 month old APBT until the last couple of weeks before he died. When he was in constant pain and could barely stand up, all I did at that point was spoil him as much as I possibly could. Until then we would spend 10 to 20 minutes every day training and 30 minutes playing minimum. He was the most adoring dog I ever had and taught me how to be a better person and a better dog owner. Now my 3 and a half year old Mailinois is my constant companion, she is actually the easiest to train dog I"ve ever lived with although she has a much lower prey drive than my pitty did, she is an amazing natural protection dog, so her real drive only comes out with intruders and she has actively protected me 3 times since the lockdowns. All the continuing training has really paid off . I don't know about all Mals, but she is also good with older children, especially when she knows them like my grandkids, and yes always supervised.

For the GF with the Cat and the BF with the HuskyXShepherd Mix Doggo: * Keep one room off limits to the animal. So one room is no access for dog; one room is no access for cat. These are your dog and cat's safe spaces from each other. Cat and dog should have their own food, toys, praise, one on one time with owner and SO (as a couple and as individuals.) * Enlist dog in doggy daycare or hire a dog walker a few days/week. This will help reduce dog's enthusiasm/high energy levels. I was in this exact situation with my Late SO in 2011/2012. I just lost my cat, Montesorri. My SO and his Dog passed away in 2020. It can work. You need to commit to the discipline more than anything. Please pray and train together. The more you are in sync the less there is to worry about. It took us 18-20 months but we did it

Yes this! ESPECIALLY the outlet. Putting in the work to make sure that they have appropriate places to chase and play, and at home is where that stops. It's worth the effort for a happy home.

I have a cat and two dogs (enhlish bullterrier and schnauzer). They both are quite friendly with a cat, especially bullterrier. But as soon as cat starts running, hunting instinct kicks in and then cat becomes prey. So cat lives in my daughter's room and they never run free together. They interact everyday in controlled and calm way.

I have had GSDs, Rottweilers, labs, and currently have a Shepinois puppy. Believe it or not my Italian Greyhound has the highest Prey Drive of them all. I think it must be all that pure, ancient sighthound dna. She also give my puppy and older Shepherd mix a run for their money. They can’t keep up 😂 She was also a crazy puppy.

@RobertCabral my mal is a great dog. She’s been so much fun to train however I have had one issue… she hates her slicker brush. She has no problem with baths or other brushes. But the sound (I think) the slicker brush makes or something is making her aggressive towards the brush. Any suggestions?

A couple years back I got an untrained and unsocialised 8 yr old GSD and the main thing I learned is that it's a little bit less of "I need to change this dogs behaviour" and a little bit more of "I need to change MY behaviour", like how I react to situations and how I handle them. My dog is now fantastic, not perfect but pretty fantastic. I got a huge payoff in terms of relationship and it's the best dog I've ever had.

My Dutch Shepherd Ace, was not well socialized when I got him at 3. I've had him 1.5 years. If I have him just around people he's a dream. Animals, whole different story. I can now call him off, and with all other animals except dogs, he can be controlled when he's on a leash. With dogs, he's a monster. I keep working on it. Yes, listen to Robert, socialize your dogs!!

hey robert, i really want to get a belgian mal but as i haven't had a dog before i'm gonna have to get another dog first. i wonder if you've got any recommendations for what dog would be good, i'm considering a border collie or a family friendly german shepherd. i'd like a dog that needs allot of training, atleast something of a deterrent for anyone thinking of getting into the house as i'll be living alone.

How can I progress a 2 year old dog from a pretty solid heel to the focused heel? Using a toy lure has not worked. His focus on the lure is too intense and he is extremely excited from the start, dancing around, bouncing up and down and barking. I have tried a few different lures. Recommendations? He is trained for many other commands. This one is challenging me.

My rescue has 12% Malinois through Embark. We found and connected with his littermate brother. He is almost 50% Shepherd from Czech Republic. He is almost 3yrs. We have to work with him everyday and working walks. 12% Mali is quite enough.🤣

I have a 1 yr old female Belgian malinois who is extremely pray driven so much that if I run she freaks out and yelps and nips and trys to stop me by jumping on me. And we are trying to be able to ride bikes with her and our other dogs but she does the same thing she yelps and tries to stop the bike by nipping the tires.. do you have any advise for me? How can I get her to calm down and get her used to both these things.

I own 2 cats (around 7years old, roughly 10lbs) a great pyrenees(2.5 years old, 103lbs), and I do dog sitting at my house. I accept all different breeds, sizes dogs, as long as they aren't dog aggressive-throughout the years in my experiences a large high prey drive dog with cat or even a small dog is extremely dangerous. My cats are dog savvy, have access to a "kitties only" room, cat trees throughout the house, shelves on the walls so they can get around without touching the floor etc... Then there's the training for the dog to respect the cat spaces etc. So can it be done? Probably. Would they have married and possibly divorced by then? Probably 🤷🏻‍♀️

Love your videos. Regarding a Mali and Cat..... Uuuum. We had an adult cat and we got our Mali puppy. It was a nightmare. It cost us a small fortune changing the window in our daughters bedroom so the cat can come and go without encountering the dogs. I've also made a cat bridge for the cat to easily get from my daughters bedroom to the ground. We also have a baby gate (don't laugh) so we can cut the dogs off from going upstairs. If you are going to have a high drive dog and a cat in the same house I'd strongly urge you to have an area of the house that is 100% dog free so the cat can feel safe. That is my daughters bedroom. The only time her door is open is when the baby gate is closed so the dogs can't get up the stairs. Humans are scared of these dogs. Imagine how it must be for a cat.

8:25 Women? Seriously? I have seen just as many men who have resource guarding issues with their dogs. Robert, try to not be so sexist. An accomplished trainer such as yourself should know that it's a person's demeanor and confidence, not their sex.

Yeeeeah that's a weird one for me. 😬 Resource guarding is resource guarding. At the doggy daycare I worked at, it happened just as much to the guys as it did for us girls. It was usually the same dog as the offender towards whoever was in charge of the room.
