I belly laughed at the shear old manness taking over James, content, seemingly in stable state of mind, not caring anymore about that out of his control like the bastardization of their music by the likes of a marching band.... I'm happy that James seems good; I'm not happy with the stationary state of his abandonment of his clean wolf howl that was the load/garage Inc era, I don't like the hardwired guitar tone era. First album I didn't have one song that I felt met the all encompassing mesh of pleasant tone of every note written 🎶 before 2016. However it still sounds leagues better than any other band past or present, it's hard to equal something from their prime, however I see a johnny cash transformation of James when he gets passed middle age into his elderly years that may end up still being the best music he will ever write as he is gaining in wisdom with age as one does opposed to the only other option which is stagnant decline of morality & dare I say reality. So I'm good with all of it, I'm not writing and performing on top of a life dedicated to James' own healing through writing and mediation. Therefore, I have no room to criticize. That being said Lars is the best drummer of all time with adjusting to whatever pace James feels like playing in the moment, making his supposed short comings irrelevant. I do miss Jason though.
