So ya wanna be a pipeliner!

Great views of Gillette, Wyoming working on the pipeline! This video is dedicated to the family of Shawn Thornhill who went missing January 2012. Shawn was our Journeyman spacing the pipe and did an excellent job! This was for Price Gregory on the Denbury Project 2011. As of June 2013, Shawn is still missing, God bless his family who is still waiting for him to come home.

A buddy of mine was a welder out of 798. I am a fitter retired out of 85 and he was my welder back in Saginaw, MI. I retired a few years back after I lost my knees to surgery. He never got the chance to retire. A heart disease made his heart stop beating on it's own. Doctors believe it was from all the years of breathing smoke. I miss you "Tumbleweed"!

The work busses in Alaska in 1975 said ALYESKA PIPELINE on stenciled sign near the door. The first thing the 798ers did was remove a couple of letters so it now said "YES A PIPELINE".Just to let management know who was really running the job. There were hundreds of these busses carrying personnel to the job sites every morning and evening.Laborers ,oilers operators 798ers all in the same bus.Sometimes riding an hour or more one way but the 798ers had negotiated pay both ways for everyone.

Why join a union? Answer: Workers unorganized are weak. Workers organized are strong. What does job security mean? Protection against being discharged without sufficient reason. Courage and faith in the future is fundamental to success. There will always be tempory dips in our economy; however, living standards in our country continue to march forward, and always will. The best time to plan and forge ahead is when others are afraid. ONE FLAG, ONE LAND, ONE HEART, ONE HAND.

It always cracks me up how people post these videos like it's hard to weld pipe or something. Give me a break, stick is so easy and most of all 6010 and 7018 down-hand. Yes I was a welder for 24 years and now a CWI of over 15, yeah I know.

@@CherylAnn798 ....Ok chick whatever you say. OMG, what's the world coming to? A chick in a mans world trying to do a mans job. There is a lot more to welding than just burning 6010 and 7018 down hand on pipe. I was a welder fabricator for 24 years and also a certified underwater welder diver. I forgot more about welding than you will ever learn in your life time. I got three chick welders ran off of the biggest public works job in San Fransisco because they were the worst welders on the job. Ok girl come to Osaka, Japan because that's where I live and work as a CWI and consultant and we'll see. But leave your pads at home.....LOL

When I travel, I carry my own 4-wheeler 🏍 Why do I do this? Because, 1 to many times the company will say they are renting me one, and none are available. Or, they will rent one, along with 2 or 3 more. Then, soooooooooo many times I leave our “Safety / Medic Trailer, someone else has done jumped on it from our crew, And zoomed!!!!!!!! OFF! So, to make sure it never happens even with my own, I, TAKE THE KEY 🔑 OUT OF IT!!! Which I’m not supposed to do with a rented one. Btw, With the size of the 4-wheeler I own, it sure beats my company pickup 🛻 in many ways. You know how crowded job-sites can get. Also, I have a custom built rack on the front and back. And I carry a good size safety kit that has everything I need, also my fully-charged-up, “Philips FR3 AED.” To me, they are the best, or one ☝️ of, the best in the top 5 of AED. The Philips Heartstart is a semi-automatic AED and it’s really designed for healthcare professionals to provide emergency assistance to people. Who may, unexpectedly experience sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). It facilitates CPR to adults and children while monitoring the ECG results of patients. It’s an outstanding unit. It’s my own personal one.
