I've been a kpop fan for almost 6 years now and seventeen is literally the best kpop group in my opinion. They are perfect in many aspects. They are freaking talented, they are the funniest idols out there, they are charming, beautiful, and the chemistry between the group members is honestly unmatched. I hope that you will get into seventeen and maybe some day try watching going seventeen, which is literally my favorite kpop group reality show, it's iconic!

Agreed. I absolutely love Seventeen and they're without a doubt one of my all time favourite artists and it's such a shame to see how underrated and underappreciated they still are even after all these years when they deserve SO much more. The people that know about them only see them as entertainers and as a chaotic group and not as artists who have incredibly talented singers, rappers, dancers, choreographers, songwriters and producers and often discredit them and their achievements and successes and compare them to other groups that they think are "better" than them, especially after they've joined Hybe. I hate that so much.

The choreography prank on Mingyu is legendary. They pranked him again at this year concert. They create a group chat without him and planned everything together. Imagine being pranked in front of thousands of people😂

1:22:32 So Vernon's parents were art and english teachers for kids in Korea, and they uploaded english videos about different topics where Vernon and his sister appeared. In that particular clip, Vernon was talking about his experience being d*scr*minated for looking different, even if he grew up in Korea and talked only korean outside his house. Kids in school were mean to him, he got b*llied and had just a few friends. That situation lasted for a long time while he was growing up. He even left school when he got cast to join as a trainee and had to be home schooled. People on the street always saw him as a foreigner and that affected his life a lot. In many of his songs he mentions how one of the reasons he wanted to become famous was because everyone would know him and know he was korean too. He considers himself korean and wanted everyone to treat him like one. Even when everyone treated him so badly, Vernon grew up in a very loving and free family. And he declared himself a pacifist, open-minded and free spirit ❤ He also has a really clear way of thinking as you can see. The members of Seventeen have different stories but they are all kids with very healthy and respectful mentalities, so they are all really close like brothers. They consider themselves a big family, and their parents are also very close to each other, and they treat the 13 of them as their own kids ❤

Vernon was bullied by other kids because he was mixed and he actually dropped out of middle school when he was accepted as a trainee. It’s very sad that he had to stop his education and couldn’t grow up like everyone else, he actually talks about it in the first performance clip in his section in the hiphop unit song “Trauma”. They all talk about their own struggles and his part is about how he had no friends and had to drop out of 8th grade. It seems that his younger sister attended an international school, so she didn’t experience the same prejudice. It’s just devastating that their family had to go through that experience and realize their children can’t mingle with the other kids safely bcs society “others” them.

1:22:20 Actually the term "halfer" is derogatory in Korea, they use it as an insult and unfortunately since he was a child he faced rejection for being different, the song of the minute 1:08:03 called "Trauma" he talks a little bit about that, i recommend to you listening to it with subtitles, basically he suffered bullying because of his ethnicity and even had to drop out of middle school. Vernon is an incredible example of life, everything he suffered in his life and yet he is one of the most empathetic, kind and positive members, in the 8 years that Svt has been in his career there isn't clip or story about Vernon being angry/mad or any argument, the members say they've never seen him get upset with anyone :(

I have been a kpop fan for about 9yrs now.. SVT is probably one of the most well-rounded grps I have ever seen. Like even as individuals. They are all really talented and Their music is AWESOME! One of my favourite discographies in Kpop along with TXT, SHINEE and SKZ.

47:45 yep wonwoo wears prescription glasses. He’s got a bad eyesight. There are times where he doesn’t wear them which is when they perform. He doesn’t wear contact lenses so he’s blind on stage. Wonwoo squints his eyes when he tries to see something far.

i would highly recommend watching SEVENTEEN X GAME CATERERS after finishing the guides. Just so you can figure out the members and more layers to their personalities a bit better before the absolute chaos and fast-paced mess (but highly entertaining mess) that is Going Seventeen.

Well, I’m watching this 😂 I’m a huge BTS fan and fell into Sevnteen in 2016 after BTS and really have come to love Stray kids this year because all three groups have similar mindsets and beliefs when it comes to their artistry. Plus, their personalities are top tier. You are gonna love them. Edit: I’ve seen this guide so any times and every time I’m just…..fond of rewatching all their content/clips. Such a lovely group and don’t be surprised by feeling emotional with them. They are just full of overt love for each other and it’s special to witness. I do believe BTS and Stray Kids are families/love each other BUT if I had to say any group was the definition of a family brought together outside of blood, it would be Seventeen. Even people who are Korean are shocked at how they interact/talk with each other and their families. They all genuinely believe that they have 13 sets of parents and they are ALL close. It’s not uncommon for a member to go and have dinner or go on a trip with another members parent lol. I’m not Korean but I’ve been told that how they address each others parents is shocking and not how a friend or group member would be expected to. Once again, they are just a lovely group. Editx2: I keep editing because you keep saying something I want to respond to. Yes, them live is amazing and everyone should go to a SVT concert. They have a HUGE fan base in Japan which is why there are so many Japanese releases. Their music is all fire because Woozi is a genius 😂

From what I’ve seen as a baby carat, SEVENTEEN seemed to be destined to be with each other - from the diamond shaped formation to them going to school with each others members unknowingly , they are FATED

EXACTLY. I genuinely believe they were meant to be. I can't even imagine Seventeen without a member or with more members, like how they were supposed to debut. Their close relationship is also proof of this. Some groups are just co-workers and it is really obvious, but Seventeen is a family.

Having seen SVT live in concert, they are as great as you think they will be. So much energy and fun and talent!!

Hi, aside from Going Seventeen, I'd like to recommend the Game Caterers with Na PD. It was filmed last April and a lot of baby carats entered Caratland because of that.

I could go on a whole rant about how amazing Seventeen is. Not only are they talented but these guys are some of the kindest human beings I‘ve seen. They love and support eachother so much, even each members families is everyones family. Their music is amazing, you can probably find any genre in their discography. And so many songs have been written for Carats. Wheather it’s just expressing their love and appreciation or literally taking a comment from a livestream and writing a song about that. The Vernon clip should be from old videos of his moms channel. I‘ve heard a lot about how hard it is as a mixed Korean as an idol. Some of them have spoken out about that but you can also see it in comments. Under some of their videos you‘ll see korean comments still calling him a foreigner and surprised he knows to speak that well. They all had their difficulties. Mingyu is naturally more tanned and was really insecure about that. Some of the members would praise him for his skin to make him more confident. You’re in for a ride with these guys. Vernon got bullied really bad as a child in school in Korea for being mixed race so much so he dropped out of school in the 8th grade and was home schooled for a short period but his parents caved in continuing his education because he was recruited for Seventeen. Both his parents are teachers. Vernon is one of the most outspoken members when it comes to racial, LGBTQ and women's equality and discrimination. One thing is many older Koreans and people who fall more into traditional cultural mindset shunned children of mixed race because they frowned upon interracial relationships.

yes, wonwoo needs his glasses to see! you often see him squinting when he doesnt have them on for performances and stuff. he also has dry eyes so he said lasik and contacts arent an option for him.

CARATS are an awesome fandom and I love them as much as the group. One of the things I love most about CARATS is how unserious they are and how they love SVT as much as they love to roast them. No one trolls SVT, in love, as hard as CARATS. But CARATS are also the sweetest. I think a big part of how CARATS are is because they mirror how SVT treats each other. I remember years ago when someone was attacking SVT for something lame and how patiently CARATS explained that we don’t do that in this fandom.

I not exactly sure but that video with vernon when he was little was probably some kind of educational content? korea is obviously a monoethnical country but jeez - when I found out that vernon had to leave school before finishing middle school because of how bad the bullying got - my heart broke a little. it's very unfortunate that people can be that hateful. I think that definitely contributed to his personality. me, an armenian person, growing up and living in russia - a multicultural country - still had to face ignorance and colorism and xenophobia half of my school years (I'm 19 btw haha). it makes no sense to me.

I've been a kpop stan since 2012 and i can say that seventeen is the only kpop idol who really shows that they love their job as an idol i saw "some" kpop and they would cry because they are sick and dont want to perform, while for the first time i saw seventeen cried because they can't perform they hated their selves for being sick and for me that proves they do love their job their fan Theu love CARATs.🍒😇🦌😼🐯🐈‍⬛🍚🐸🐶⚔️🍊🐢🦖

As a teacher in Japan, I always feel a little extra protective over my students who are either half Japanese or not Japanese. I haven't seen any of them being mistreated at school, at least, but I always notice how most of them are a little quieter than their peers, so I can see the stress weighing on them, even as young as early primary school. I wish they didn't have to go through that. I can't empathize, not having that experience, but I definitely sympathize.

I've been a K-pop fan for 14 years, have been a multifan before Seventeen (2nd gens era's the best), I have been following Seventeen's predebut journey ever since 2013, but they didn't debut until 2015, in between I kinda lost hope, since larger number groups at that time usually doesnt last, but when I found out they finally debut, I was like okay I can get into this, then I just slip into the diamond life just like that. Boom! Also, thank goodness for Carat being our fandom name cause Hoshi was trying to name us Mounteen.. (Mountain + Seventeen)

I think if someone called me a halfie it would be painful I'm one person not two. I grew up in a purely white family as a mixed-race black, girl and grew up with people being racist to me including my family not because I'm mixed but because I'm black. I'm too black to be white I'm too white to be black I was always in the "other" box and that is hard. I think people don't discuss identity issues that mixed-race people go through. Also i loved this video i hope you can do more seventeen reactions :)
