NAh, even the folks that do this stuff for a living make mistakes like those. How do you think they know to look for them now? They made the exact same mistakes at some point. If a project goes together too smoothly, that's when you get really paranoid that you missed something. lol

Yeah, exactly that. Retrofitting a trigger-wheel by eye on a crank pulley vs a machine-shop fit, in my case. Cost me a crank trigger and heaps of time. Help comes from unlikely places: everyone's secretly a petrolhead...

I'm a gearhead of 45 years and I've only had three engines go way too smooth, with total paranoia, but were perfect right out of the box. I built a 455 Olds 442 engine from scratch, all hand built. I did a lot of research on it and built it to be a 450 hp engine and it put out 475 right off the engine stand. Talk about paranoid? But it was perfect. Yeay for our side. The other was a 351 Cleveland in a Ford Bronco that I also built from scratch to put out 400 horsepower and that exactly what it put out off the engine stand. (402) And of course, nothing like that ever happened again until very recently. I supercharged a Pentastar V-6 in my 2018 Dodge Charger AWD with 9,000 miles on it and also added a ported intake manifolds, a Hellcat throttle body, and giant injectors set up for 93 octane, to put out 510 horsepower, and it's puts out 522 to the ground with 14 pounds of boost; in 4 wheel drive. And that, is the total extent of things that went too smoothly and really were. In 45 years. LOL

This was in the early 80's when you needed giant breakout boxes to even attempt electrical repairs. Even the factory engineers would come down to visit him. Funny the owner of the dealership wanted him gone, because he wasn't the model employee. Glad I kept him around.

I would think given the magnitude and complexity of re-wiring a whole car after replacing the ECU, that it has gone fairly smoothly. Well done Sarah. plus as always, impressive quality of work too. Another step closer to putting her back on the road!!
