@@theguywithsomething8634 Well, yes, of course there's a difference. Foreshadowing is what's being called back to. Something can still be foreshadowing even if the creators didn't initially intend for it to be anything else than an interesting detail. If something implies that something might happen in the future, then it's foreshadowing. In this case, Jake foreshadowed that they might die, and that once they do, one of them would do this clapping in order for them to find each other. Without Together Again it was just a loose shadow with no source, but then Together Again came and called back, creating the shadow retroactively.

@@ArcticSt0900 not sure, but the 50th dead world specifically is the "best" one where you just play harp all day and have no connection to any other ones. It's eternal bliss, and Finn needs to basically pull a heist to get Jake out.

Even if Finn explains it immediately it's surprising that the signal actually happened in a different episode several years back and only paid off now,meaning Finn remembered that one throwaway comment that didn't even pan out at the time for his entire lifetime so he could use it now,that's pretty impressive

The way they kept continuity throughout the show and always make callbacks to earlier episodes is what makes me love this Adventure Time so much. Even as we speak with Fionna and Cake out right now, they’re still keeping the same AT charm and giving us a more mature vibe

The moment he did it in the HBO show I was in tears. Such a brilliant show.

One thing I love about Adventure Time is how it’s gags and minor characters are never left off as simple jokes but serve a role later in the story.

I already knew that, I remembered the episode as soon as Finn started clapping like that.

adventure time is one of the rare show that call back on so much stuff, from single episodes characters or objects, to lines that we hear onece in a random episodes numerous seasons before, this is reall awesome and shows how much the team behind AT take the time to construct each épisode, this is amazing

Thing is even with why Finn choose to look like this (after death you can choose to be in whatever age you like), just so Jake would not only hear a familiar voice, but also see a familiar person

It goes to show that Finn is a caring person

Ever since that episode, I clap like that from time to time. James Baxter for the win

The sound is so satisfying

I remember laughing when Finn said "Don't worry Jake, I'll block this one". Like bro how? Your gonna get clapped still.

Jake quite literally invented a way to find each other in the dead worlds, a method so good, Finn actually remembered it and tried to find Jake in that dead world. It genuinely wasn't his fault that Jake was such a genuinely good person, that he was able to ascend to the 50th dead world without Finn, who was bound by his earthly tethers. In a way, it's comforting that something u can haphazardly think of in a split second between life and death can last beyond this mortal coil. But also at the same time, it remind us of the useless battle that is mortality

I didn’t mind the style being different & the people working on the show being different when they kept up the continuity like this.

I haven't watched most episodes Post-Season 4 more than twice, some I've only even seen once, since I mostly just watched when new ones premiered at that point and and caught some reruns on weekend. The episode that references I only saw once. And yeah, my mind didn't think much about the clap assuming it was a one off.

They could have chosen differently but the writers care a lot about every small detail in the story, even when it's not as relevant as other references to the plot. Not many shows put this much effort.

Likely in memory of Fern who was once part of his arm merged with the Grass Sword and later merged with Finn Sword to exist as its own individual but has Finn's memories up to the separation imprinted.

Well he wanted to be recognisable by looking pretty much just like he did right before Jake died.

Now remember... OG Gunther called Simon "The Professor" when Marcy and PB entered the crown. This could very well be used in the Fionna and Cake series. After all.. Gunther did say Simon was the smartest guy he knows, aside from Evergreen. Could be foreshadowing that he will beat the crown and keep his sanity.

Gotta love how, when faced with imminent death and trying to plan ahead so he could find his brother in death, Jake grew a third leg for no legitimate reason.

So that explains alot.

Honestly, it was so depressing to see Finn just feel lost for the remainder of his life without Jake there but at the same time it makes sense. Jake was Finn's best friend, his brother, and his teammate. He's someone who always had Finn's back without Finn ever needing to ask. He was Finn's compass, there to help him sort through this mess called life. It's Jake that helps Finn deal with so much of his repressed emotions dealing with stuff in his mental vault. It's not like Finn didn't have friends or people to help him other than Jake. PB, Marceline, Huntress Wizard, and BMO would do anything to help him. But none of them are Jake. Nothing and no one could fill that void no matter how hard they tried. Losing Jake was like losing the ability to breathe.
