Jonghyun met Taemin when Taemin was 11 and Jonghyun was 15. Jonghyun was one of Taemin's first music coaches along with Onew after SM refused to give Taemin vocals lessons. Taemin sings in a style and hits notes that are reminiscent of Jonghyun. Taemin adored him and went through mental anguish when he died. They all did. They all are like brothers. Taemin's dream .... which he has said before through interviews and what not.... his dream is that one day they all live close by together forever. He also said he would like it if they lived in the same building with each occupying a floor of the building. He has wanted them to do a show where they have to live together which would be funny. Taemin used to live across the door from Key when they moved out of their dorm, but key left because the altitude on the floor they lived in was affecting his health. Onew and Minho stayed at their old dorm the longest until 2019, so about a decade. If you see their interactions offstage, they have this brotherly love, and it's why they have been together for more than 16 years. Oh, SHINee used to walk taemin to school when he was little because he was bullied. He says even if his solo career fail, it would be OK because he has shinee his home to go to. Also, when you see them introduce themselves in their solo work, they always say I'm Shinee Key, I'm SHINee Minho, I'm Shinee Taemin, and so on. Their first solo albums all the covers are similar, and their intro to their first solo album is a reminder that their solo work is a reflection of them as a team. They have alot of connections you will see in their solo work to their work as a group.

Okay last comment let me say that SHINee World wants you to find joy in listening tk Jonghyun and hopefully when you see their live performances you can see there were happy times. Even in present, SHINee still joke about Jonghyun and make fun of how funny he looked when performing as a soloist and did his signature moves. They want Jonghyun to be remembered for the good and funny person he was, so don't feel you have to walk on eggshells when you talk about him. You should watch SNL skits. SHINEE did funny SNL skits and Jonghyun was very funny in those.

Y Si Fuera Ella is a legendary example of Jonghyun's unparalleled ability to convey the emotion of whatever he was singing. (When he first started as a trainee with SM he decided that his own personal definition of music was 'telling a story, and he stayed true to that always.) His Shinee members have called him the Best Artist. I'm continually blown away, even two years now into discovering him, not just by his voice and the extraordinary range of ways he can use it, but by his incredible creative talent. (He wrote almost every song on his solo albums - and produced most of them - as well as writing lyrics and composing music for Shinee and others. He played with his voice, with music, with words, and left a legacy of masterpieces. He also paid attention to every detail, like when he wrote the lyrics for Shinee's View he worked with each member to find the words and lines that would work best with each member's vocal strengths. Like Onew has said, there isn't anybody like him. There's a lot of variety in his solo work. Some recs: End Of A Day (live performance, not the "crying one"). Diphylleia Grayi. I'm Sorry (live performance). Crazy. Beautiful Tonight (the Half Day Picnic live performance. Hallelujah. Moon. Elevator.... everything, really.

Jonghyun was so incredibly talented, and his loss is always felt no matter how much time passes. I think it would be a good idea to watch some lighthearted stuff that SHINee did together, like someone else suggested. Their concerts are hilariously chaotic. Someone suggested their SNL skits and I'm totally on board for that! If you're up for checking out more of Jonghyun's songs, I recommend Suit Up, Hallelujah, and Deja-boo.

This was one of Jonghyun's most epic and iconic performances of "Haeya" ("Y si fuera Ella"). And it will forever be a symbol of what made him such a great artist. This was Jonghyun's very first solo single and he was only 18 when this song was first released -- only a few months after SHINee's debut in 2008 -- so this just goes to show you how amazing of an artist he really was. (This specific performance was at their SHINee World Concert II (SWC2) in Seoul in 2012, so he is about 22 here.) His mastery of singing, emotion and stage presence is awe inspiring. If he was this good so early in his career, you can see why he has become so highly respected now after more than 10 years in the industry. Hence, why Jonghyun is known as one of the best singers in the industry, and SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They really are one of the most well-rounded groups in Kpop that excel at every aspect of the entertainment industry. It's easy to see why everyone looks up to them. This is a cover/rewrite of Alejandro Sanz's "Y si fuera Ella," so most people just call it by its original Spanish title, but Jonghyun's version is called "Hyeya" or"Haeya". Haeya is the girl's name (which I understand translates to "her" or "she") that Jonghyun is singing about that is why it's the only word in the English lyrics that isn't translated because there isn't a translation, it's a name. Jonghyun heard the original Spanish song and he and his manager loved it so much that Jonghyun had to make it his own -- with the help of Kenzie, one of SM's main songwriters -- by translating and reworking it into Korean and changing it slightly to make it fit his vision of what the song's message was about. In case you were wondering, the explosion you heard was not a gunshot, but it was his heart exploding. He felt so passionately about the girl that his heart literally exploded. The song is about how the girl, Haeya, left him and he is in pain because she is no longer with him. The whole song is him begging her to come back to him. He loves her so much that he is dying from the pain of being seperated from her, etc. Jonghyun was highly respected for his songwriting and composing skills. He was one of the very first Idols to be recognized as a songwriter and he became one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. He was the first SM Idol to have a fully self-written album. And all his albums following that were written and composed or co-composed by him. His legacy includes several dozen songs credited to him. It's one of the things that all Shawols hold onto as part the legend that he left behind that we feel is our duty to share with the world in order to keep his memory alive. He also wrote about 40% of SHINee's songs and several songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy," Lee Hi's "Breathe," IU's "Gloomy Clock" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already," among others. He was special, and it's songs like this where you can see how powerfully he felt about everything he did. One of the things that he was known for was the fact that he was full of love and compassion for everyone and everything in this world, and he often wore his heart on his sleeve. When he performed you could feel every emotion flowing from his being. That's what made him such a great singer/songwriter, but it was also what I think caused him to feel so much pain. He took everything so personally, both the good and the bad and he never thought he was good enough. He did so much good in his short 27 years and he left behind a great legacy, however, his time was much too short. He really was one of the greats. People say that when he walked into a room you could feel his star power, and yet he was so humble and down to earth that everyone instantly wanted to be his friend. You did well Jonghyun, our beautiful angel and diamond in the sky.

i understand your being speechless during y si fuera ella, it’s such a beautiful song and performance. the og song is actually in spanish (as you may have guessed/is indicated by the title), by a very famous latin artist named Alejandro Sanz. I got the chance to see him in concert and hear him perform this song!! obviously it wasn’t jonghyun’s voice or even in korean but trust i teared up hearing it live as much as i did watching jonghyun’s performance of it through the screen a bunch of times

"She Is" is Jonghyun's title track on his second solo album from 2016. And just like SHINee, nothing he does will be like anything you have heard from him before. Jonghyun was such a magnificent singer/songwriter. His solo albums were all so colorful because it was 100% his voice and style -- he was the one that wrote and composed or co-composed the whole album every time. So his solo songs were where we got to hear his true thoughts and emotions and he could tell his story. He was truly brilliant when it came to music and that was why he was so highly respected by everyone in all aspects of the music industry. I truly believe that if he had had more time in this world, he would have eventually even made it into the U.S. music scene and he might have even wrote songs for western artists. Live performances are what makes SHINee special. There is nothing like a live performance from SHINee. You should really check out a live performance of "She Is," you will be even more impressed when you see and hear him perform live. Yes, when it comes to SHINee, they all can do it all. The rappers can sing and the singers can rap. As trainees the members of SHINee started out training to be a hip-hop group, so they all learned how to rap. That's one of the reasons why they are so versatile. You did well Jonghyun, and you never will be forgotten.

There are so many emotional performances including Jonghyun (whether physically present or there in spirit)… those, including this performance of “Y Si Fuera Ella”, never fail to bring me to tears. Jonghyun & Onew’s performance of “Please Don’t Go” is one of the most incredible, yet emotional, performances that are a must-see…here’s a link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mmF5ycakaN2endY.htmlsi=AIhGCmaZoNJGK5pt Their voices were MEANT to be together.

It's so sad but the truth was that Jonghyun would get sooooo much hate in SHINee. He git the most hate in the group. Constantly people were pushing that he leave SHINee even though he wrote songs for SHINee and guided SHINee to be the group that is now. He would fight with executives with Key about wanting artistic freedom until they got the freedom. They were the first group to have soloists debut from a group because they were relentless. Jonghyun was a fighter for SHINee and that's why SHINee always says they are 5. He stood by his principles and people hated him for it.

Jonghyun is perhaps the most talented singer/songwriter in kpop. He was a creative genius and his legact lives on. I would havw lived to experience one of his intimate soli cincerts where he riffed into jazz. Meanwhile, I understand the SM SHINee soloist project began due to Lee Soo-man (founder/former CEO) tapping Taemin to do something more, not from the members. (Good instincts to see the maknae's potential, especially in a group with Onew and Jonghyun! LSM was a gifted talent agent and marketer.) SHINee is such a special group, truly an amazing experience.

I won't say Jonghyun never got hate, because I think every popular person does, but I think Shawols have always been a relatively sane fandom and it's misleading to say Jonghyun got "soooo much hate", or that people were "constantly" pushing for him to leave the group. He got criticized (undeservedly) by a small section of the fandom for a few incidents throughout his 10 year career, such as standing up for the LGBTQ community or for dating, but it was never the kind of massive hate that some idols have to deal with.

@@Pos1t1veThinking not as crazy as fans are nowadays true but those things did happen he was getting that much hate especially when he voiced for marginalized or even when he performed with Teamin Internet Wars or just randomly for things he liked or supported. Also I wasn't comparing the hate he got to what kpop stars get now. Kpop wasn't as big then as it is today. Also I said that he got the most hate within the group not speaking outside of the group. He had alot of fans too, but sadly hate can get to anyone and it's wrong.
