Brian was a choir boy so he has a gospel background. AJ has a soul influence. Howie has a Latin pop and soul influence. Kevin is classically trained. Nick is very punk/pop. They have distinct sounds. AJ Nick & Howie play base electric and acoustic guitars each. Brian plays acoustic guitar piano and the drums. Kevin plays guitar piano and drums. They're insanely talented individuals but a powerhouse as a group.

I never get tired of this song. AJ's voice is Pure Soul. AJ's voice is Epic!!! He's the one, who's sound/voice, you love. Check out AJ McLean's song "Boy and a Man" and Backstreet Boys song "Show 'Em What You're Made Of", "Poster Girl". I Love your big ass smile while you watch them. It's Awesome!! Brian sang first, then Howie D., then AJ, then Nick, then Kevin. They have had their trials and tribulations. BRIAN - had a heart condition (had surgery 1998) and in 2011 diagnosis of vocal tension dysphonia and dystonia. He continues to work with a therapist to help improve his condition. NICK - had issues with drugs and alcohol and also was diagnosed with cardiomyopthy. He's clean, sober and living a much healthier lifestyle now. AJ - has drug and alcohol addictions which he's constantly working on. He's been in rehab a handful of times and is always striving to be the best version of himself for his wife, kids and himself. He's clean and sober. KEVIN and HOWIE have been able to walk the straight and narrow path and not have any substance/alcohol issues that I've heard. I Love them all and pray that they are happy and healthy in their lives. We're all human and have things happen in our lives. I cast no judgement and respect the fact that they are always striving to be the best version of themselves.

They are HUGE outside the United States. We LOVE them!!! They marked a whole generation (my generation). I saw them in St Louis, Missouri, a month ago and it was the best concert of my life. My family will see them in Spain next week. They sold out all their tickets in Europe right away. We will never get enough of them! Simply the best boy band ever!

If a 90s boy band didn’t have a moment where they could be sat for the first half of the song and stand up with a key change were they really a boy band?

I actually like all of their music too. They really are a good band with good voices. Drowning is one of my favorite songs. Another band I don't think you have tried yet is 98 Degrees. A quartet of guys that also have very good voices.

AJ's voice is very insanely powerful. Brian is my fave, has been, but AJ is like such a close behind him for my fave. But AJ's voice is commanding.

To this day when I have a bad day it’s always AJ’s voice that rescues me. I’ve always loved him but now that their original fan base has grown up, more fans realize AJ’s voice is a treasure ❤

I always loved this absolutely beautiful song. I love BSB. INCOMPLETE, SHAPE OF MY HEART, QUIT PLAYING GAMES, LARGER THAN LIFE , EVERYBODY. just a few of their incredible songs ❤️

I love how you pointed out how dramatic they are and that you enjoy it because i love that about them lol, the lost art of emoting. I particularly love their song "Inconsolable" even tho Kevin is not in it because he took a break from the group at the time, they are all amazing.

My second favorite BSB song just behind “I Want It That Way”. The harmonies are gorgeous (as with most every BSB song) and the vocal arrangement is flawless.

Interestingly the opening piano part is the same as O Town All or Nothing.. I imagine the same writer but I'm not sure 🙂😎

Of the 4 songs you've reacted of theirs I have no favorite I love them all. I think my top favorites overall from them that would also be included with the 4 are Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely (which I think is my absolute favorite), Incomplete, Never Gone, All I have to Give, Inconsolable, Quit Playing Games, This is Us, I'll Never Break Your Heart and Everybody (Backstreet's Back). As far as groups go Backstreet Boys are still my favorite so it helps that they are still together making new music. I'm enjoying your reactions to them. I think what separated BSB from so many other groups was their vocals and harmonies they weren't meant to be a boy band but a vocal group like Boyz 2 Men hence the more R&B style vocals from a lot of the guys. Howie D was originally the lead singing when they started due to this and when they ventured more into pop for their first album the music fit Brian's and (especially) Nick's voices more so they got more leads. AJ's voice is more of a smoky rock style voice which is why he ended up which a ton of leads too. His voice is powerful and doesn't get lost in the heavy pop production that was prevalent in pop music at that time, whereas Howie D and Kevin who have slow, soul R&B voices and work for that style of music can drown in that pop type of sound. I think this is why some of BSB's biggest singles like I Want it That Way and Drowning and a few others are slower and more Pop R&B to show off all 5 of their voices unlike the more pop heavy ones like Larger Than Life that feature Brian, Nick and AJ in the leads but show all their harmonies.

The love I have for BSB. They are truly iconic! Their discography is phenomenal. Their song Shape of My Heart is absolutely timeless. That song will always have a hold on me. Also im thoroughly enjoying your reaction keep em coming :)

They all have great voices for sure. But in my opinion AJ has the richest tone. His voice is amazing! I have always loved The Backstreet Boys. For sure they tend to use Brian and Nick more lead with vocals, then AJ, then Kevin, and Howie. (Howie get the real short end) But AJ has the best voice! No matter what these 5 harmonize so well and their music is way better than N'Sync (both bands came out around same time) Also they have longevity as opposed to most of the other boy bands.

It’s so typical 90’s boy band stuff but far out, I love the BSB.

Westlife and nsync are my ultimate fav boy bands of the 90s but id say in terms of music, bsb is up there. They just got amazing hooks in their songs its almost addiciting you can't not sing to them. Altho i love my ult boy bands' songs too, but westlife mostly had covers in their past career (which isnt so bad they do it justice everytime) and nsync obviously didnt last so long so yeah. Thats sad ahahaha. I love bsb sm too!
