Great stuff Hankerin! Things I will definitely use from this: the map-less maze D6 generation The mutation stone concept The way you set up running Molok with spells and blink circles with the random teleports. Makes running the boss battle much more enjoyable for every one!!! Keep killing it!

I actually used the maze mechanic, for my solo dungeon crawler... but I used a d8 instead to add a couple more extra nasties. But thanks for being the best DnD channel, I have got a lot of inspiration for my one shots or mini campaigns.

I am totally ripping that 1d6 maze idea! When last we left my PC's, they had decided that in the morning they were to visit, after an unnerving encounter with a corrupted wizard, the site where his old tower once stood before it disappeared a decade ago. The tower gone and a large void left where it once stood, I think they'll find an old backdoor somewhere that leads to the maze! Thanks for the inspiration Hankerin!

build your box 24 x 36, then use a nice big brick of styrene to "float" it over your table...or even 2x4's...another method is to make an even bigger piece of ply for beneath it as a player shelf for sheets, die rolls and the like. Also, if you have dogs liek me, dont use black felt lol.... use something more cotton blend...

Had my family do this. My daughter was the ranger with just a shitty bow and no arrows. After some time, she asked "Are there bones on the floor of the prison?" I answered yes. She immediately said "I want to use the bones like arrows." I know you can't actually use bones as arrows, but the idea was so brilliant and original, that I just gave them to her. Here we are 2 or so months later, and one of her character quirks is that she debones dead creatures to make special arrows out of them. I'm a proud dad.

If I can retrieve it, I could share it if people want. Also, I was thinking I can use moon sand and/or Play-Doh to make temporary statues & other doodads.

Going to have to agree with that. I was planning on doing it like the video went, but they wanted to keep playing after room 1 so I looked in my notes and realized I only wrote down half of the dice rolls. What kinds of things do you things do you find worth noting while you play. In the fort they found an ancient enemy, a druid who abducts children in the region, I am sure they will invade the fortress behind her, but I can not think what they will have to face inside. This particular druid is trying to open the door to an ancient dungeon, the door is sealed with ancient and extremely powerful magic. She has made sacrifices of children in front of the door to corrupt and weaken the magic of protection and to enter the dungeon (nobody knows why yet). Then I thought of a kind of prison, this fort would be the retreat of the druid, where she does her research and takes part of her victims. The players are still lvl 2, so I'm kind of confused with what I play against them.BUT MAN...THEY WILL SUFFER AUSHDIAUSHDIAUDHAIUD

I play tested this and ran into the same issue with dead ends. How about changing dead ends to 10' foot pits with a 5' ledge on the other side? It keeps the maze flowing but makes it a bit of a challenge to get across. Also if you keep maze at a width of 5' it keeps the group linear and tight.

Cool just wanted to see how you handle players choice if it isn't congruent to the session. I've been DM-ing one shots so my DM can get a chance to play too and I'm just trying to figure out how to guide without railroading. Since I'm not doing campaigns it seems to be easily sandboxed. I just found your channel. Do you have videos discussing guiding without railroading?

Joing the party a little late, but well... I like your encounter style, but balancing seems way off, imho. In one video you said, this was a dungeon for lvl1 characters, underequipped lvl1 on top of that. There's no way even a veteran group of players will make it through there with low level chars. Lvl 4 and above, maybe. Maybe maybe. For example.... The spider generator that spawns this number of creatures each round is simply too much, or you'd have to underpower the spiders, which makes the encounter kinda useless. The GelCube on top of that, pressing the players even more is great, but d.e.a.d.l.y. Even if destroying a cube takes only one round, which is not very realistic assuming each has like 10 HP, they will not even attempt that before the second wave has spawned, realizing what''s going on. That's up to 20 creatures right there in round 2 of the encounter. Even if each of the spiders only does like 1-2 points of damage, they are Toast. Add the confined space, which will easily make spellcasters fail their concentration checks, reduce tactical movement etc. It's a death trap. One I will certainly use in une of my dungeons, but not for low level chars. So do you have a realistic experience with that dungeon ? What's the level of the players you played it with, how did you manag to guide them through ?

Yehp, this room and far worse ones have seen a lot of play. In ICRPG, there is a core difference from a lot of D&d, which is that 'the world is not made for you to destroy it.' so YES there is NO WAY to beat a spider fountain. Your chances of critting a cube to finish it fast enough are tiny! Our sessions have been so crazy fun these past two years, because there is a lot more flight, more diverting, more all around CRAZY to battle these odds.
