So many YEARS seaching for her 🇺🇲 U.S Military Father! 😔

Jackie Wiest.is searching for her long lost father
who once served at the Subic Bay Naval Base. We went to Olongapo to interview and help these Amerasians who are still searching for their biological fathers after so many years since the United States pulled out of the naval base in 1992. Some of these half Filipino, half American kids suffered immense bullying and discrimination because they were deemed to have been "left behind by the ship." I should call this video "the hero's journey" because at first Leah May did not want to go, she would be leaving her own children behind. In the end she took up the challenge and interviewed the Amerasians hoping someone watching the video might know teacher Jackie Lou's Father, "William Davis Wiest" whose name was on her birth certificate. She has not seen him since he left when she was just two years old. The information given to her was that her birth father served onboard the ammunition supply vessel the USS Mount Hood (AE-29) He was also a guitar player and aged around 24 at the time of her birth making hi. about 67 as of 2023. perhaps although this may all be the wrong information given by the mother as is so often the case from the Olongapo/Subic Bay nightlife era during the late 1960s up to 1992 when the U.S Navy left Subic Bay for good.
It is estimated anywhere between 50,000 to 250,000 amerasian children were born during this period in the Philippines.
Thousands still remain, not knowing who there real biological fathers are, growing up in a life of misery and poverty. Some were adopted, the lucky ones were claimed by their fathers before they turned 18, the rest we are helping with providing Ancestry DNA kits with the real chance we can get a match to their biological father.

@@michaelhaideeWe can order direct to Ancestry online in the States, (its complicated but we did it before) OR a person can order to their own address and then ship onwards to us. Ancestry don't like sending "directly" to Philippines if someone orders from the States. ❤ I hope this makes sense 😊

One way flight Cebu to Manila takes just 1hours 18minutes. 2875pesos each. One way Ferry Cebu is 1845pesos each takes 24hours. Got this from google might be right or wrong. Ferry round trip for 2 apx 48hours and 7380pesos. Plane round trip for 2 apx 2hours 40mins and 11500pesos. The difference is 46hours travelling time and an extra 4120pesos ($60 usd extra means these 2 could fly home same day) not be exhausted. If they can meet needey people in 1 day, they could possible have more time to help others. If somebody knows how to make a crowd fund page, please do- and post details here on their video posts.

I think you need to inquire from these type to a foreign association to help ease the burden. So you won’t pressure that much as you have your own family. Just do your best one at a time. The rest is coordinate with the organization to help you. Your kids needed you too growing up in a Formative Years. They will understand. You’re not abandoning everyone but one at a time. Once the kids grows up and can understand then you decide. Have Courage. 🙏🏻❤️

If the father accepted an amerasian child, I needed a place to stay temporary here in the USA temporarily, I could help.

It's a shame that you both can't have a team of people to help you both so that you could spend time at home with your children doing the research of the family members. You could help more people that way should you ever decide to expand your business. Those taxi drivers would make me go crazy.

Hats of to you both for helping other people but I think I will not sacrifice my little kids. Children need their mother. They’re in their formative years.

Another way to find veterans is through freedom of information act request. If you know the name of the father.

If you have their full name and know what ship or military unit they were on perhaps you could go through the VA to find them. Judging by the ages of these people it’s unlikely they would still be living.

Is that her married name? Castillote is actually an Italian surname eventhough her DNA test only showed a small percent Italian.

Your journey (both) in helping others though risky and challenging yet so rewarding.... It is meant for both of you and professionalism in handling the situation makes it more hopeful and positive for all concerns... You're truly good couple to do this.. Good teamwork in meeting needs... Eventually all things fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments, and know EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.”- Albert Schweitzer
