Well at least the women loved Charlten Heston and Yul Brenner as mens men but even Vincent Price & Edgar G Robinson played mens men in their own rolls in this classic film.

This was the greatest movie Hollywood ever put out. When actors remember their lines. Actual acting in comparison to the computer generated junk nowadays. Today’s Hollywood is all about foul language, sexual innuendoes, nudity. They slap one another on stage of the Oscar recently!

One of the great pairings in cinematic history. Yul Brynners Ramesses is like a jealous sibling who can't reconcile Moses constantly outshining him. Moses is like a thousand mile roadblock to the throne. Heston, perhaps more than any other actor, was born to play in epics. His powerful, handsome presence and kingly voice are rare attributes. The only other actor I would place above him is the great Paul Robeson. Robeson was like the incarnation of god. Particularly in that magnificent voice. Number two is still pretty good.

Excellent movie!

Notice how Moses says, "So let it written..." but he says nothing about it being done. This movie, in retrospect, had tons of deliberate foreshadowing! 🙏

The best Metallica song

Every Easter Ten Commandments was on TV. We never missed it!!

At the end Moses says, "So let it be written," but doesn't say, "so let it be done" as they did throughout the movie because he knew it wouldn't be done and that Ramses would call him back not to kill him, but to let the people go!

These two were perfectly cast. Heston had the voice and the presence of a man of God. Brynner also had that baritone but those eyes of his were focused as an antagonist. An excellent heavy. I think savalas wouldve made a good pharoah too. He also had that voice and he had a certain stubbornness to him that wouldve fit perfectly. Although heston was awesome i wouldve liked to see a moses that wasnt so physically powerful. Like the actor who played kringle in miracle on 34th street or the actor who played the wizard in the wizard of oz. More human than heston. But heston was great.

Wow! 😳 I hadn't realized that Moses predicted what kind of a plague would fall from Rameses mouth when he threatened him and the children of Israel.

Easter and Passover occur around the same time each year. That is when network television would put on this movie every year. The connection to both holidays: the Bible portion that The Ten Commandments is based on (Old Testament) is literally the story around Passover and why Passover is celebrated, i.e., freedom from slavery and bondage. The Easter connection: The Last Supper happened to be a Passover seder because JC was Jewish. 🙏

This part was perhaps in my top 10 in this legendary film both actors played their parts to perfection Moses (Charlton Heston) sent out his final warning but Ramsis (Yule Brynner) was stubborn I liked the lines in this part Moses replies so let it be written.

The movies always get the Bible stories misconstrued. Moses NEVER spoke directly to Pharaoh due to his lisp. Moses spoke to his brother, Aaron, (who understood Moses due to years of listening to him speak with a lisp,) then Aaron, in turn, relayed what Moses said to him to the Pharaoh. Cool movie, nonetheless.

Actress Deborah Paget who played the water girl Lily in an interview about the making of this epic film's director ... "He was a perfectionist, she recalled an extra on set who was in the distance while the movie was being filmed was wearing a watch. A great and epic film. The parting of the Red Sea scene may yet stand as once of the greatest practical effects in film history. Yet I don't think it's historically accurate, at least not outwardly. I am among those that think Akhenaten was "the Pharaoh who knew not Joseph" and whom Moses contended with for the freedom of the Israelites. Akhenaten's son, Tutenkhamun, WAS cursed, but did not live long, as we know, dying at the age of 19. But someone pointed out in a video that this movie's depiction of the calf/bull of Ba'al portrayed in this film had symbols on it associated with King Tut.

The genome of the ancient Egyptians is a match to the Fertile Crescent of the Near & Middle East ranging from parts of modern day Turkey & Iraq, to Syria, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon. The Bible takes its name from the Latin Biblia which comes from the Greek “Ta Biblia (‘the books’). David was a HEBREW who worshipped only YHVH God under the Mosaic law of Judaism, and who penned many of the Psalms that are beautiful poems & praises to YHVH God only. Moore ambushed Mr. Heston outside his home in 2003 knowing full well that Heston was already seriously ill with Alzheimer’s. Michael Moore is a Marxist circus and I also would have walked away from the interview with Moore, whose Columbine documentary is poo. It mentions the name of "Nebrod" (the Greek form of Nimrod) only as being the father of Azurad, the wife of Eber and mother of Peleg and Joktan. Hebrews come from the Tribe of Eber. Abraham is the descendant from Peleg's line. This account would thus make Cush an ancestor of Abraham, and hence of all Hebrews. Abraham ( Shemite and Cushite) Notice all the countries mentioned in Torah are African countries.

@@valvacious2793 Long story short: Egyptians are Black people. Moses was born there but he was a from the tribe of Levi. Egyptians are from Hamm. Israelites are from Shem.

Ancient Egyptians shared no genetic kinship with sub-Saharan Africa. Their genome is instead a match to the ancient Fertile Crescent/Levant of the Near & Middle East ranging from Turkey & Iraq, to Syria, Israel, Jordan & Lebanon. These are all Levantine caucasoid people groups. The tribe(s) who built dynastic Egypt migrated down into North Africa from the western edge of the Asian Levant. This history has been handed down throughout their generations, which is why even modern Egyptians still consider themselves a Middle Eastern people group.
