@@Mhantrax Space Engineers had large scale terraforming since 2013 and few ppl cares about it. Most voxel based games have it. This game is nothing new or interesting. Literally another Conan Exiles smashed with Valheim that nobody needs :) Worst possible time to launch this game, when Palworld came out not a week ago. This game is not relevant and probably already dead.

Voxel/block based terraforming and building, good combat with skills that change how you play, grappling hooks and gliders, and a beautiful world. The first impression is CRAZY good, hoping the game stays that way when you get further into it.

Almost every town or structure has some sort of lore piece (the map is fairly bug and earlier today we found a world border that read "this is the end of the early access map" which tells us its going to be even bigger in the future.

@@drearmouse9510 well... more accurate to say enemy encampments, they are abandon towns overrun by enemy NPCs, theres loot and lore, and NPCs will sometimes have you go to certain locations to progress their craftables If you wanted you can make an entire castle town for your NPCs

@@drearmouse9510 They use the environment to tell a story. The NPCs are there, just as skeletons. Some are still in the act of writing. There is one story that describes a beast in a cave. Leading up to the cave were claw marks, and a broken down caravan with loot in it. Its easy to miss, but if you take your time looking around you can see the story telling around the lore you find.

Calling this "like Palworld" is a sin. This game is essentially a more "gamey" Valheim that feels a lot like Fable with some tropes from V-Rising slapped onto it.

Yeah i actually found this game last year when i was replaying valheim and was super excited for it to come out. I completely forgot that it was getting released yesterday. With this and palworld right now, my survival craft game itch is gonna be satisfied for a while.

I really like it so far. The RPG elements are amazing for a survival game, and you can just ignore the crafting and push really far into harder areas to get gear upgrades. The RNG drops make it super rewarding. The skill tree is also awesome and something I can geek out on pretty hard. Honestly, for its first day of EA, I'd say it outperforms Ark, Valheim, and Conan, which are the 3 survival games I've played. I actually put thousands of hours into Ark, too. But yeah, none of those games really compared on day one. In fact, Conan was horrid, with Ark being a bit better, and Valheim being the best for day one out of those three, but Enshrouded takes the cake here, and it's actually unique with the RPG type gameplay.

Honestly, I really wanted to like the game to explore and build, but it's just too incomplete. The animations are bad, the combat feels "light" with no impact(at least with how far I got), the UI/Inventory management is unbearable and you can only only rotate building object by 90 degrees. This was the point I called it quits when I wanted to make a base overlooking a cliff but I couldn't because the angle was 45 degrees off which is just plain garbage. It just has too many negatives for me to enjoy so I refunded and bought Monster Hunter World to give that a try since it went on sale today.

The thing about Enshrouded is that it's always rewarding to explore and hit new areas, you find new items, mats, and the enemies end up being ridiculous and even a bit "scary" which is awesome. In Valheim, you get like 2-5 new enemies per biome, you farm the resource for that biome, kill the boss, and move on.

addictive game. if you choose assassin/archer route you can later on shoot while you use glider. you can also glide down quickly behind someone, drop down into a roll, into a crouch and then backstab them. youre basically a flying ninja

@@Therizinosaurus I think its the fact that consoles have a hard time accommodating many open world survival games (maybe the new gen that will change) while computers for a long time have been able to run these games with little to no issues. Also I assume its a design\ease of access issue, its likely easier to both design a computer game from a computer for a computer while also easier getting a game that a major company like microsoft would turn down put on steam because the graphics are pretty much never amazing so gamers that focus on gameplay can try out several $20-40 survival games simply because they are available and the community has found some serious gems. I would more so blame the consoles for not investing in building a survival community for their own hardware. Just a surface level opinion that could be totally off base. Edit: But hey yall on the consoles got those sports ball games and shoot em ups on lock so theres that.

Stamina usage: I feel like when you're fighting - the stakes are so much higher, and you tire faster because you're giving it your all whereas in gathering - stakes are somewhat lower and so you don't put out as much energy into performing a chore. I think Stamina usage should be present in fighting and in gathering activities, but the gathering should consume maybe 1/4 the amount one uses while fighting

It honestly the opposite. During combat, you would have adrenaline rush so you wouldn't tire even nearly as fast as doing chores. It's also there so you have to get better gear to be more effective at gathering. I agree though that both actions should consume stamina.

There are perks that help in that regard, but I suppose you'd have to waste points/respec if you switch between building/gathering and combat. From my point of view, even in RL, people will use more stamina on chopping logs if they don't have the correct technique and posture. The same can be said for combat, hence the perks?

What are the pros and cons? There needs to be a reason why. Stamina drain isn't immersive, because I can work a physical job for hours and hours and not becoming fatigued. Keep your terrible dev ideas to yourself.

I got both Palworld and Enshrouded, had both on wishlist for a long time. Next in line for me in 2024 on Steam to keep an eye on is Nightingale, release planned for february 22.

​@@gb342002 there are people who only play first person shooters as well. Heck there are people who have played nothing but WoW for 15 years straight. Palworld, Enshrouded and Nightingale are quite different outside of the core survival mechanics. Though playing the Nightingale beta tests have been such a disappointment.

The multiplayer progression is totally messed up. Basically one person will take all the content and it cant be re-done. You get no tutorial as that quest was already completed. If you werent online when a quest was completed by others you can never get that skill point for your character - you must play singleplayer and do that quest. You first spawn in and there are no bushes so you cant craft a bed anywhere near spawn. You kill the boss and one person gets the loot. If you have a 16 player server like all the marketing promoted then expect to do 1/16th of the content in multiplayer, if everything is perfectly divided. Or, more likely, you will run around the world and every chest will be empty and everything will be unlocked and you will have a huge menu of completed quests listed. The NPCs you unlock are just crafting benches. And there is only one of each type per server. 10;/10 building system though.

@@guatles6762 no one said it wasn't early access, you say that as if this person is complaining. they are just providing facts about the game in its early access state for people who haven't bought it yet. it's fine that these things are the way they are (hopefully to be fixed eventually), but people should be aware of these things before they buy the game.

@@Onkuty you can do precise rotation by holding shift or control, and scrolling the mouse wheel. It literally tells you that on screen when you're placing objects/buildings. You can build a circle as well. Crafting one thing at a time is meh.

Once u get a specific NPC you can craft a chest that lets u use all your ressources of the base.

Been waiting for this game. Played the beta. So good.

My only complaint is not like Cyberpunk 2077 as far as blood and gore and dismemberments. When is there going to be a god damn game lol that is this type of game WITH those things. If we're supposed to feel like it's immersive with being in a world that's an alternate dimension to ours and the differences are magic is real and blood is translucent instead of red, THEN MAKE THE GAMES STORY EXPLAIN HOW THAT CAN HAPPEN SCIENTIFICALLY SPEAKING!! I mean I'm getting REALLY ANGRY over here!!!

I finished palworld 137 seen and caught, level 50. Couple lvl 50 pets. Killed all bosses and gyms. Even caught all gymbosses with pal and all. (did about 90hrs since launch). Started enshrouded today. So far I am enjoying it.

This is now the second most sold game on steam after Palworld. Two games in a row that prove that good gameplay and fun are the most important thing. This is again a game created by a company of 20 to 50 people and a smaller budget.

Enshrouded is a solid contender for palworld. Plain and simple. I've got over 40 hours in Palworld myself, and it scratches that goofy game itch for me. Enshrouded scratches that serious, magic, medieval itch. It's super atmospheric, it looks good, and it feels good to play imo. It feels less jank than Palworld but not by much, and the designs are just really cool. Palworld does resource management better, but the combat in Enshrouded is much more fleshed out. So is the actual character customization (as in skill trees and such, not appearance, which both games are about equal in for different reasons). Palworld is a silly (and very fun) Pokemon Survival game. Enshrouded is more of an Action RPG. They're both GREAT games so far, just slightly different audiences, of which i'm part of both. I just hope Enshrouded doesn't get totally overshadowed and can stand on even ground, they're both great. Also Asmon saying "it has similarities" as Palworld is like saying Halo and CoD are similar. Yeah, same genre, they're gonna be similar in some ways. But Enshrouded has things that sets it apart, in a good way. Room for improvement, but super solid game.

Enshrouded type games have come and gone every year. Palworld is revolutionary which is why it has 1.8m online players vs 69k right now

By far one of the best games I’ve ever played in the last 20 years for building. We needed this. I’m already 60 hours or so in.

I like how in these videos when you can see Asmon's steam there's always Dark Souls 1 installed. I also have it installed permanently on my pc xD That game is truly special in the series.

They are two different games. Both are great, but Pal is the hype game right now. So the comparisons will happen. Pal is more about collecting, Enshrouded is more RPG, way more. Id call it Skyhelm.

Palworld is just more fun than this thing. It was unfortunate release times for Enshrouded. Nobody expected Palworld to be that big. Enshourded isn't even a survival game, it is just a Solo RPG experience that can be played in multiplayer with a housing building system to keep you busy. Tagging themselves as a survival, open world, base building game has them competing against a game like Palworld when it shouldn't be. It is neither a Survival game nor an open world game.

I too have been playing Palworld and bought this last night, I will be trying it out later this evening. Ive been watching Cryptic play this, and since I've played Valheim and New World, (and Palworld) I thought I'd give this a shot. So many build, craft, survival, story games the last few years, has been kinda nice. Even a game like Palworld holds very similar concepts and mechanics and is fun for all ages. Lets face it, all gamers are big kids at heart no matter the age :)

looks amazing for early access and the fact it takes some inspiration from Val is huge in my book seeing as Val was one of the only games in recent years that really got me hooked.

This game has a lot of promise and is very enjoyable so far, but only as a single player game since multiplayer is currently very poorly designed. This game definitely can fill the void that Valheim left with the criminal lack of updates in the span of 3 years. Once multiplayer gets reworked I imagine this will be an amazing experience

The games crafting system is pretty good and the game looks smooth overall. The problem i see is there is so much of nothing happening. Unless you actively go find something to fight there is nothing. I much prefer valheims system when even while gathering and crafting monsters come attack you. Sometimes there is even events of monsters like tons of trolls to attack your base.

He needs to unlock the gliding, super fun to jump off buildings and fly down like batman. And they allow you to fast traver to the towers so you can jump off toward your objective.

When Asmon’s character fights the “grunts” make me think of the “law hawk” commercials

I've played over 300 hrs in Enshrouded because I keep discovering more really interesting secrets, and I really love the building voxel part of the game. I hugely love survival games and have played most of them. Valheim used to be my favorite - but Enshrouded has far and beyond topped Valheim for me. There are bosses in the game - actually, this game has EVERYTHING - including awesome puzzles, hidden areas, secret doors, blowing up things to reveal chests, etc and I absolutely love that. The first content expansion may be out very soon. Since i've already completed the game 100% - I cannot wait for it to get even more content.

Fastest base building would be to build into a hill side or mountain and just slap a wall with a door down. Then expand it at your leisure

You know, I bet Hello Games new game they announced is going to also be a similar game to this one.

at lot of my buddies uninstalled palworld after like 2 hrs of unshrouded.

palworld made me interested in survival crafting games now. "pokemon with guns" is such an understatement.

It's nothing like Palworld except its got 3rd person and building mechanics! Enshrouded is missing some pretty obvious things atm such as proper physics on ungrounded objects and ability to build some blocks outside of base area, additionally the server/host has no ability to customize server settings to make things more persistent or harder. These things MAY be addressed in Early Access, I haven't asked the dev directly about many of these questions.

@@taroushi I was hoping LEGO fortnite would be the one, but it didn't really hold either of our interests. But the cute and cuddly creatures that's the hook she needed and finding and hatching eggs.

I have 10h of gameplay in Enshrouded... And tbh You just scratched what this game is and what it has to offer. The more you play the more items to craft u learn.. all this new items and building stands out and the game doesnt feel empty as it was in the beggining.

This game reminds me heavily of citadel: forged in fire. Everyone is comparing it to so many games yet citadel doesn’t get any attention even when it was released a while ago

I do like the unique building mechanics and teraforming like in NMS. I would love something like that in palworld. I wonder if its like NMS where theres only so much teraforming you can do until it starts to reset itself.

This game reminds me of Outward without the repetitive punts to my testicles.

I'm really enjoying it! RPG & Survival elements but the survival tends to award more than punish. Combat is fun.

once you get the carpenter they allow you to make magic chests to craft items from inside the radius of said chest.

Way better than Palworld.

It's like Pal World, in that it's a game that Asmon likes lol

Man, I don't know who you are, when your content started to pop up in my recommendations, neither why it's started to be recommended to me, I'm from Brazil. But everytime appears I watch it until the end. You just look like a childhood friend of mine who I was used to play D&D and Magic together. Amazing content man, you distributed all your points in charisma for sure hahaha

The MAJOR thing you do in this game and Valheim is chop trees down. Valheim does it so satisfyingly well with the tree actually felling, (fall damage) then cutting it up further on the ground. Small detail, but MAJOR level of immersion this game lacks.

I agree, I think that's where valheim had this game beat in that way. The physics engine for valheim is incredible. It seems like the building in enshrouded doesn't necessarily have a physics engine in the same manner that valheim does.

Asmongold this game is massive. Just look at the map, and then there's a few tiers of armor available as well as for each type of character. Me and 6 other guys are forced to venture out north to find things like copper and Clay

To me, this feels more like what new world would have been like if it was a survival game and not a mmo. I played over the entire weekend and had so much damn fun. Excited for the future.

I like that you always make your character creation resemble yourself if possible. I always do. I find it odd when people go the complete opposite to whatever their look is.

Same. I play with a friend who always makes his character as ugly and weird as possible. It’s funny for about 2 minutes, then it’s super annoying because I have to look at him all the time and he doesn’t. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

It depends on the game but for me I either make myself in games like the sims, or I make a baddie if Imma be lookin at my character a lot in 3rd person or sum shit or I make them a bog mutant freak... or I recreate a character from different media, it really jus depends on the vibe, but I feel like its like that for most people, they make themselves, or a repulsive creature, or a hot character theyd bang, OR theres people who wanna see if they can re create a character from irl or fiction w the games character creation tools... Im jus all of the above randomly but I mostly make baddies...

I've played palworld since it came out, and I've started enshrouded today. Both games are great, but I like enshrouded a lot more. After playing enshrouded, palworld, at least movement wise, feels really slow.

I feel like Valheim created a new genre of survival games, transcending and moving away from the likes of Ark, rust and conan exiles.. now were getting things like enshrouded and pal world.

Asmon is 100% correct; I refrained from buying this simply because this style of "grindy" game being similar; my time is already being occupied with Palworld and I'm in love with Palworld

Did Asmon miss all of the terraform games over the last decade? This concept was heavily used because it’s a more simple version of Minecraft. Many survival base builder games have had this. Even games like no man’s sky have had this since the beginning.

I have this and also pal world. Both a great fun, but personally the co-op experience and gameplay for enshrouded is superior. Palworld is scratching that pokemon itch ive had for a while since I play pc and dont have a switch.

When it was on open alpha I have the highest hope on Enshrouded because I don't own a switch. But Palworld steals so many attention from this game. Anyhow this is a really good game and I am looking forward to the new drama which it can bring lol

true bro for sure , vallheim is gonna be 3 years old in 1 week and they only released 1 biome , and ashlands will take a lot more time yet , they say first half of 2024 , yeah ashlands was supposed to come out in 2022 on their roadmap , as much as i love valheim , items , skills , combat , exploration , cooperation , building , mining are done better on enshrouded , but valheim does have boats and a animal breeding system .

@@jamesf2743 Sad but true. Apparently after Valheim was a success they moved most of their dev team onto a new project and left a skeleton crew the further develop Valheim, which is a shame. I still have a LOT of hours on it on a private server though. Mods have made an already great game absolutely amazing. Sad that multiplayer is very hit or miss though.

This i really should be a single player game. The multi-player aspect is clearly tacked on.

I want a game like this but takesplace on a planet about 1/1000th scale and the entire planet is a simulated voxel planet that cant be cored out entirley and can be build anywhere kinda like space engineers but with actually good art asthetic and also there is some sorta story and mystery in the game world.

first unknown attack = surprise for stealth attack. crouch also = stealth attack. later flanking with rear attack also = stealth attack. and yes the bonuses stack. yes beef = hp, and sugars = energy+hp5. halucination items like mushrooms, beer ect grant magical bonuses. lock doors can be removed with a crafting workbench and deconstruct to gain items. nice for rare items like iron spikes early on. staggering blows and hamstring hits, req hammer or bow + skill enhancement to increase odds. and yes there are bosses. 135 i think to valheims 5+2 after magic expansions. so bosses and dungon delves in the shroud is new over valheim, where in valheim everything is kinda respective and generalized based off biome. enshrouded will have things cross over in near zones with overlapping regions for smart shard creations. where valheim has12k shard seeds for a seemed spawn randomizations. meanwhile enshrouded actually has a custom world generator after the starting localized zone. in valheim the world events are based off scripts for boss kills being stage 1-7. in enshrouded, the homestead incursions are faction based building hate rep pending on number of kills which can be avoided threw using npc kills like a huntsmen with a trained pack of wolves. theres more animals that can be domesticated in enshrouded vs valheim where even bores will rage at your village in valheim for mierly having torches too close to the animals ect because of overlapping npc scripts. the dig and build height is 3 times more then valheim. ect ect ect. so if you just saw it on steam and thought it looked cool. and wasnt sure which is better. then you wouldnt know. but if you been following the games creation and development. ud know valheim 1.0, 2.0, and boss 6n7 are like 3.5. so enshrouded is like valheim 10.0. nearly better in every facet. i do kinda miss the valheim viking aspect with longboats ect, with fishing and serpent farming that is about the only drawback. but the devs did say they had something special in store for players that enjoyed that aspect of play. idk if its cloud dragon hunting or what, they didnt say.

where as far as building and crafting goes, they said theres not just 142 different textiles for building between wood, stone, iron, and special metals like glass titanium ect. but exploring the zones there is also styles of building as well where after the default style you can unlock like european dark ages style, or oriental style, ect ect ect with 16 different building styles. which i thought was really cool to hunt and unlock different patters for different types of objects. which i assume is unlock threw boss kills and/or lore base books.

where with all that is it, they can expand more rare and unique weapons, more types of armors, more types of magics, and more styles of crafting to come in future updates. so i really like it!
