So Nintendo decided to make a Nintendo switch oled, instead of giving it a much better computing power. I have a 55inch 4k oled Samsung TV that I plug my switch on. I need more power, NOT OLED ON THE HANDHELD WHEN YOU KNOW DAMN WELL PEOPLE WILL USE A TV TO PLAY GAMES IF THEY WANT BETTER DISPLAY!

The older switch comparison for the screens being weird shades is normal, Nintendo uses 3 to 4 screen providers to keep up with demand so some switches weirdly look different than others… I’m curious how they’re handling production on the OLED though!

Lol remember the 3ds fiasco? People literally bought, to check, and returned the inferior ones. Smh. Theres cons to being dumb enough to use multiple providers. They should hit up samsung and call it a day. Sht, apple does usually.. samsung makes their own as well as theirs. Nintendo just being cheap imo, more than meeting demand. Realistically this unit wont be flying off the shelves. Only hardcore gamers will re-buy, everyone else will be a 'maybe' bcz it will be their new and only system

I can see that happening. Otherwise i KNOW samsung if they have involvement, isnt going to split orders between bunch of companies. They stick to the quote and demand and all that. And another reason it wont vary.. is the fact that i bet you nintendo wont even sell 20mil of these switches throughout the switches life. This uear will be maybe a few mil or 5mil max and beyond that it will trickle sell. Here and there for a few years more until switch2. Even ps4pro and xbox pro didnt sell that great. Thats why you cant see any hard numbers, separately, for sales.

3:39 you just address my biggest concern outside of battery life. This is how come I was hoping for a 1080P screen because I can already notice the pixels on the current Switch model. I'm a pixels peeper by nature, so I will definitely and naturally notice the difference.

I use handheld mode a bit more or as equal as docked. I currently have the V1 Switch since launch and it's running okay but it starts to heat up a lot more quickly than before, effecting my gameplay. I was going to get a V2 prior to the OLED announcement for better battery but upgrading to the OLED makes sense for me. I have a $250 GameStop Gift Card which helps!

Repasting my v1 helped a little bit with the temps, but I'm noticing it's still warmer than it was at launch. My battery life isn't what it used to be either, but that's to be expected as well.

The v1 is the most valuable switch out there. (If unpatched) It's is basically the only switch that can run homebrew and emulation. They go for a lot of money.

I love how many videos we got from you this week, but I'm sure you are exhausted. I hope you get some good rest and that you don't have to do this many videos in a week anytime soon!

Nice to watch a video about this that's not overhyped. It looks fine, but honestly the most exciting thing about it really is the kickstand.

I've been enjoying the OLED a lot after upgrading from a Lite. As someone who plays strictly in portable mode, the Lite was a great. The only issue being when the joy con drift started. Once it got bad enough that calibrations wouldn't fix it, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. In the end, I choose to upgrade. That larger screen and vivid display is worth it.

@@ava8510 I'd recommend upgrading. Having played on the OLED for a while, the improved screen and increased size is well worth the extra 50. Having more internal storage is nice, too.

It’s tempting me. Still got my launch switch. The better battery, screen and the facts that it’s not all beat up might be enough

Instead of Oled..i bought the beautiful zelda joycons, a sleek dockable TomToc grip, and a nice TomToc hardshell case for my normal switch. Looks legit as hell now.

I have a launch model that will be going to my daughter when I pick up the OLED model on the 8th. I play mostly in handheld so it makes perfect sense to get the better screen and battery life.

Fantastic video, it's super cool seeing how much bigger the screen is on the new model. Tiny editing thing, but the audio background noise removal effect is kinda distracting, I would rather you just left your microphone recording alone

Yeah, I pretty much only play in docked mode, but when I do play in handheld, I'm usually casually gaming and not too critical of the screen in front of me. Very thorough, though. I really appreciate a good analysis like this.

Needed up pre ordering the white at launch and can't wait! I have a V1 launch day switch that works fine but I have it modded to run other stuff. Will be nice to have 1 for hacking and 1 original.

If they do a switch pro or similar system in the next generation model they should incorporate screen casting for when you can't dock the system. Yes screen casting is not ideal but imagine taking your switch on the go and being able to play on any screen you have available if you wanted to. Could be huge for games like Mario kart at a friends place or on vacation.

I appreciate the first impressions video and the fact you played it instead of being like some other KZreadrs that rushed out a 'I gave an OLED Switch!" video but had nothing of substance to take say about it.

I had a launch Switch, so I didn’t even have the larger battery or slightly better screen from the recent V2 Switch. I even sold my old Switch towards my preorder for the OLED so even cost wise the upgrade has been so far worth it for me and I can’t wait to pick it up.

@@jairorobo6488 outside of the people that do it for piracy ( a large amount ), In my opinion, the greatest benefit is being able to overclock the CPU/GPU to max speeds, even when in hand-held mode. The Switch's CPU only hits max speeds when on a loading screen. It makes games like Hyrule Warriors much more playable. And it's nice to be able to copy a game to your internal storage or micro-SD card, so then I can let my son play the game too, while I'm playing mine. Sure, that's technically piracy, as I didn't buy 2 copies....But for singe player games, I'm not going to buy 2 copies of a game. I don't have the money to buy a 2nd copy of a game, just because my 8 year old is interested in it for a few hours.

I saw Kevin's first, and now yours. I'm interested in seeing how the Joycons hold up this time around, as well as other 3rd party devices, so here's hoping you guys come in clutch. Still...I'd be lying if I said a crisper screen wasn't tantalizing, as I do most of my Switch gaming in Portable Mode...

Glad I wasn’t alone in nicking the mesh when opening the kick stand. It’s not a huge deal but it does bug me a little.

Especially with some of the other better changes. Not worth buying a whole new Switch for, but I sure wish I had that kickstand or those bezels. :')

This was such a helpful review, I was debating whether to trade my v2 switch for the OLED model (costing me £84 to do so) but considering I play it in TV mode more often than in handheld. I'll definitely stick with my current switch for now, especially if there are no TV mode upgrades aside from a LAN port that I won't use.

I like how honest you are, way to go never change!

The Lite is still my favorite model. It feels so much better.

I think I might wait for a special edition OLED switch, I started with the launch model before switching over to the pikachu eevee edition and old my launch one to my Roomate. So.. I think upgrading it when a special edition comes out, after most of the hype is gone is what I will be doing. I just hope the special editions fall under the themes I want! I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to a gen 4 switch that had both copies of Pearl/Dimond, like they did with let’s go. Then it would be worth it to me. Until then, meh.

I don't have a Nintendo Switch, I currently have the Lite and I have just pre-ordered the OLED version. Super excited to receive as I have been contemplating about getting a switch for a long time and I'm happy with my decision of going for the OLED rather than a standard version. Thanks for the review :)

I play mostly handheld and had the OG March 2017 Switch. The OLED is a game-changer. The stand is actually usable, and the battery life is insane. Walmart inexplicably sold it on preorder for $299 too. No regrets whatsoever.

I was pretty sure I was gonna get the upgraded switch model, but I'm still really happy with my Lite. I think this switch is perfect for people who havent bought any switches yet. Hey Bob, as a fellow non screen protector person I just was wondering if you are planning on continuing that with this new oled model? Awesome content as always.

Just a point of correction: The speakers of the Switch OLED are the slits on the front of the screen. The mesh areas on the back you keep referring to are actually the the air intake vents.

I sold my V1 switch awhile ago around, actually I’m pretty sure I got a V2 after that but sold that as well also because they didn’t have any games really back then that I wanted. But I just bought an OLED. I’m so happy with it too. Looks so good in handheld mode. Plus the other things they added and changed were needed. Like the kick stand… sooooo much better then the V 1/2 switches.

I wish they made the Joy-con buttons soft like on the lite, had to get used to the same old clicky buttons after I sold my lite. Might have to pick this one up but I gotta see that OLED display in-person. Recommend others to do so as well since I think KZread probably doesn't do it justice.

@@luisdireito dont worry, youll get used to them, but yes. the lite has softer face buttons. some would say theyre bad and "mushy", but other people like them. the ones on the normal switch are clicky. dont know about the OLED as i wont get my hands on one anytime soon but thats probably the case as well

We have both and I personally like the clickiness of the OG switch. That said the dpad on the lite is amaziing. L, R, ZL, and ZR for me have better clickiness on the switch too. My switch lite feels really cheap in comparison.

I have a launch Switch that stays at home, and a Switch Lite. I really like the Lite's increased portability. Pass on this, but I do agree that it's great if for someone that does not already have a Switch. What I would like to know, is if I could somehow make a FrankenSwitch with the original Motherboard, and the new OLED Switch.

Don't you worry, a Switch Lite OLED is coming. I would be willing to bet my left foot on that. My guess is Spring 2022 or potentially September or October 2022. Most likely the latter. So hang on to that Switch Lite and your money for now if you want ab OLED to play in portable mode. Of course this is just my educated guess... You have to admit though, it's what makes logical sense really. They're probably going to bait people with this OLED to test the waters and see how many people are willing to spend $50 more for OLED. Then later on if this model does well they will definitely release an OLED Lite model.

It's interesting that no one seems to have looked into the dock yet. Don't forget that you can actually purchase the dock separately for the current switch if you wish. That along with the slight redesign and the recent update that allows you to update the dock could mean that its possible that this new dock could allow the switch to run better while docked.... (That's a lot of dock in one sentence)

Great video. What was left out is that if you play portable, and you have a Day 1 Switch, this is a worthy upgrade too. The battery is way way better. Is the same as the V2, BUT funny enough it lasts more. Because of OLED Tech. Black Pixels turn off entirely instead of being lit with the color, and it's overall more energy efficient. That's why, despite having the same battery, you can squeeze out 1h+ more out of stuff like BotW compared to the V2, and 3h more compared to the Day 1. (If you play on Max Effects, Max Brightness, Max everything. If you play V2 and OLED on Medium, they last the same. However, the OLED at Max lasts 10m less than the OLED at Medium, while the V2 at Max lasts 1 hour less than the V2 in Medium. Always on BotW)

At 0:36 we can see the OLED display is not Pentile, but actually S-Stripe RGB. Pretty cool!

Glad to know there's a standard mode, I saw a lot of photos of it with oversaturated colors and got a bit worried.

Never getting rid of my launch Switch. Those old models can run custom firmware. And it's so nice, being able to force the CPU and GPU to run at max speeds all the time, instead of only having the CPU hit max speeds when on a loading screen. Can even force max speeds when in hand-held mode. So you can get docked performance while handheld. Yeah, drains the battery more...but it makes games like Hyrule Warriors actually playable.

As hard as it was I cancelled my pre-order for the OLED model (well I put in a request to Idk if I did it on time) no because I have a problem with it but because I already have an og that works perfectly fine and two Switch lites, that I don’t even need (though I play the lite a lot and take it with me on my travels). The OLED looks amazing but apart from slight differences it’s just not worth getting it if you already ave a perfectly fine working one. When there is a new model with upgrades in how it runs in both handheld and docked then I’ll make a purchase

It’s not even an upgrade… the screen has the same ppi it’s a more blown up image so you can see those fat pixels. You get a better image on the lite.

I play about 80 percent of the time in portable and 20 percent of the time in docked. The switch lite has always been really tempting since the battery life on my launch switch is gettin pretty rough. But even just knowing I might want to play docked is enough for me to go for the OLED model instead of the lite, plus the white joycons / dock look awesome. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that there might be a 4k model of the switch down the line. If that's the case, buying this model means there's no way I'm getting the 4k one if it does indeed come out next year.

Thank you for this I started having doubts for pre-ordering the white version after getting shit on for months by everyone I know because they didn’t “improve the specs” Seeing the actual product in the whole “new system” shine helped reaffirm my purchase

Looks more like the air intake, rather than speaker grills. Also over saturation can be annoying, and one of the issues of introducing a new panel technology, is that some games color calibration will be off by a lot. So these profiles are welcome.

i wonder if future special editions will be OLED-only, old style-only, or both. i can't imagine they'd bother to do two version though, so it'll probably be only one, and my money is on OLED

I was gonna finally get myself a switch and then i saw this oled model so i decided to wait till october 8th to get my switch. Perfect timing for me to buy a switch.

My switch is definitely kicking on and I hope to get the new one. I don’t have a tv at college so I’m almost always playing portable these days so I think it will be worth it for me.

I bought the white one from Target and it's coming SOON! So excited, and I'm hoping Metroid is as good or better as fusion

Your voice in my head “you don’t really need more than one switch” as I’m buying a 4th switch. I love that you’re honest with us about not buying the special editions if you already have one. 👍🏼

i'll be getting this just because i happen to have a switch since launch, and it's very beat up, to the point where the hinge connector is actually bent out of shape lol. i'll just be relegating my old switch to doing naughty things nintendo doesn't want me to do really.

I'd love to have one but I just totally can't justify it. My switch never leaves the house. Plus I'm saving for the Steam Deck.

Steam deck is definitely 100x more worth it considering that the steam deck is just 50$ more than the old switch

Personally I always felt the launch model screen size was too small to do anything other than docked. I like the new crisp screen. I'll most likely sell my launch switch

I only got my V2 switch last Christmas. I was so annoyed when they announced the OLED lol. I mainly play my switch in handheld and I do find myself struggling a little bit with the screen size on the V2, especially on games like BOTW where there’s quite a lot of detail that can be harder to see on the smaller screen, so the bigger screen on the OLED is tempting. That being said, my switch is less than a year old and I wouldn’t want to sell it or trade it in and I have no use for two switches. Plus with no real performance upgrades other than the screen theres not a ton of reasons for me to seriously consider switching (ha) to the OLED when I have an almost brand new V2 that works flawlessly. I’d probably agree with you that the OLED is a good deal for people buying their first switch now, or upgrading from a V1.

Don’t worry I give it at most 2 to 3 years before they say sum about the pro in a direct here or at least you’ll see real leaks like we did with the OLED

I must say I look forward to this guys videos on a regular basis

For people who DON'T have a Switch, get this thing. If people still play DOCKED most of the time, the OLED is pointless

i still have my launch switch with the same joycons the joycons are almost unusable and the battery is terrible so i definitely might pick this up
