it is weird and i cant find a single word to describe but when i listen to her singing, she makes me believe anything she says,,,, yes, i am being vulnerable, mesmerized, overwhelmed by her and finally realize life is beautiful to live.

So Hyang is GREAT, however what makes this song sooo special is the arrangement which she writes / coordinates. It is, by definition, a southern American gospel arrangement, and I believe that this performance was actually part of a church service in Korea. Many church songs are arranged this way. There are about 3 additional layers of "hook" (syncopation, up-tempo, rich orchestral) in this song as a result which is splendidly captivating. In addition to So Hyang's masterful performance is the equally masterful arrangement. Solid stuff. Btw, that is a G5 she is hitting full / mixed voice. Impressive with unbelievably technical skills on full display. Well done!

Sohyang sang this song as part of a singing competition show on KBS, "Immortal Songs 2". The theme for that episode is "pop" songs (Western songs) that are popular in Korea. The invited guest is the DJ who played Western music on the radio many years ago. He's the guy who sang along with his eyes closed. The other folks shown are either the other competitors, or audience members. And, yes, Sohyang won this episode.

어쩔수 없어요 타고난 목소리톤이 다른 가수들과 달라서 어찌해볼수가 없죠..^^;;

ive seen do hyangs bridge over troubled water like a 100 times and ive watched plenty of reaction videos for fun but this is the first time i ended up breaking down in tears halfway through, i could tell it was touching your heart and that energy i could feel it here and it was just really really beautiful thank you :)

I'm excited that you decided to try the recommendations you received for Sohyang, Coach. 💖 You have a +1 sub from me. I'll watch the analysis for sure. Sorry I forgot to mention to "bring tissue just in case" last time. 😊 A few of her performances are known to gut reactors' tear ducts open due to her emotive delivery. 😂 Whether from inspiration to hope to consolation, or from unrequited or lost love, Sohyang is VERY good at emoting. This capability truly compliments her legendary technical mastery. This said mastery makes vocal pedagogy communities worldwide go bonkers over. We all know taste/preference is subjective. But, objectively, technique wise, Sohyang will be remembered as one of the all time greats. That G5 mix at the end is only a sneak peak of the Sohyang iceberg. (For me, it was her pianissimo in the beginning of this performance that impressed me the most. Smooth, superb control and the diminuendo is just masterful. It was probably because I had already witnessed her legendary Bb5 mix in a prior other performance video titled _"Arirang Alone"._ Hers is the most insanely perfect Bb5 mix I've ever heard: fully supported, zero strain, massively resonant, with balanced head/chest ratio, and with vibrato. 😱 Mix Bb5 is not her max either. It was C#6, still fully supported, still zero strain, etc.) Speaking of consoling, it's the primary reason that Sohyang sings. Sohyang stated that she doesn't chase fame or fortune. That's not her "mission", if I may borrow reference from her gospel root. Her religious background plus surviving cancer in her early 20s forged Sohyang into who she is. She turned down many record deal offers, both local and international, because she feels the path of fame and fortune will lead her astray the wrong path, more "worldly" instead of spiritually. I hope that answers your question in the 6:00 mark. But, as the saying goes, *cream rises to the top.* She doesn't have the backing of giant promotion mechanism lubricated by big budget of major record labels, which pretty much responsible for who are currently "mainstream". It's mostly through people's word of mouth she garner her loyal fans and admirers as years go by. Included in the word of mouth category is KZread comments. She crossed over from the gospel music scene in 2012, in her early 30s. Late as it seems, it's actually a blessing because Sohyang in her 20s had not achieved the virtuoso level that she's known for today. There are videos of her earlier performances. We can compare just how far Sohyang has come. She really trained herself, to transform from a regular "singer" into a "vocalist". Her old and new video can be made into "before and after" transformation commercial promoting what discipline and hard work can achieve. .

❤️❤️❤️She sings with whole heart and soul and emotions!!! She touches me into tears almost every time I listen to her. To me Sohyang is the queen of singers and Dimash is the king of singers! 🙂💞 Try her performances "Everyone" (I recommed with eng. sub.) or "Lean on me" or "You raised me up". Arturo Pena I have it at #3 on my list after Bridge over troubled water at #1 and Everyone at #2. Only because those two songs gave me a little bit more feels than Arirang Alone. Although when she hit that amazing Bb5 note in Arirang my eyes teared up.

Now for 2 of my all time favorite living female vocalists . Both from Korea. Certainly Sohyang one of my all time favorite female Korean vocalists but for the life of me I can’t figure out why you ( or other coaches) haven’t as yet reacted to another world class female Korean vocalist who many consider as good as Sohyang ( they are close best friends and each admire the others talent). They both have the same vocal range and hit those celestial high notes with emotional impact. And they both look beautiful. Her name is Park Ki Young and here are 4 youtube live performances that will blow your mind and open your heart. Park Ki Young “ wound”( amazing but she can go higher) Park Ki Young “ Spring Rain” ( amazing and those high notes!!) Park Ki Young “ Goodbye, a word that’s too short” ( heartwrenching and again high notes are amazing) Park Kiyoung “Nella Fantasia” ( hauntingly beautiful rendition) Please react first to “ Goodbye, a word that’s too short” because it highlights her tremendous emotional depth. I hope all your subscribers who never heard Park Ki Young perform , will react privately. She takes us into a roller-coaster ride of genres, emotions and vocal colors, and in the end delivers a performance and experience that needs to be seen. Michael Bolton was actually there when she sang this live, and he - together with most of the audience - was floored. Sohyang takes us to church! 2.
