📌Welcome! Who is Sohyang? Kim Sohyang (called Sohyang) * 1978 in Gwangju, South Korea. She is self-taught and a real all-rounder. Sohyang comes from poor divorced parents. As a teenager, she converted to Christianity and planned to become a cartoonist and artist. Instead, she joined a band and married drummer Kim Hee-jun. She started singing late and has no formal vocal training, but since has had some lessons from Seth Riggs (American voice coach). Shortly after the wedding she had to have an operation and was told she could not have children. She was then 21 years old. After the huge success in 2017 in the "King of Mask Singer" (Korea), Sohyang’s appearances became less and less. She was struggling with severe pneumonia, which came back eight times and almost took her voice away. Sohyang, hailed as "Korean Mariah Carey" for her outstanding vocal skills, shared how obsessed she was. She didn't want to damage her reputation, didn't allow herself to make any mistakes. When So Hyang began her career in 1996, some media folk dubbed her the Korean Mariah Carey. Trust and believe, that comparison hasn't applied in a very long time. This is the one and only time the PHENOMENAL So Hyang has sang this song in public. She didn't believe her health would permit her to sing it again. So Hyang has battled pneumonia eight times between 2016 - 2020. She indicated it was the most difficult song she ever performed, because she had to figure out when to take a breath.
