We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages: Korean, English, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading French and Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on KZread and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted Sohyang and went to Japan in order to have her perform eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. So Hyang is a remarkable singer. As you say, she is as good as any female voice around the world. I have not found any I like better. She is now almost 46 years old, aging backwards, and still able to sing anything. She may even be better now than she was back then when she sang this song in 2015. The "hee" part is very quick and subtle, almost like a puff of air after the "h" sound carried over from the stressed "SOH" syllable. Note that the "ahng" sound uses the first and last phonemes (syllable components) of "awe" and "song", respectively; it isn't "uhng" or "ohng" as too many non-Korean folks claim.

@adorable2545: You're welcome. Over 25 years ago, I wrote a Hangul font look-up routine for ASCII string input. The short specification I received only had a table for letters A-Z placed in 3 groups, the allowed word patterns using those groups from 1 to 5 times, and a mapping of a very limited set of ASCII-encoded Korean words into their glyphs. There was no letter-to-symbol mapping or pronunciation guide, but by comparing the letter patterns and glyphs, I noticed how each letter is mapped to a symbol component and realized it's like using an ASCII keyboard to type Hangul "letters" to form "words" in the Korean writing system. That's a good way to form fixed display prompts without having to use 16-bit binary codes to map to a font.

First, she is the finest Coloratura Soprano alive with her musical roots in Gospel Music. Plus, she is a Songwriter, a Musical Arranger, a Composer (Dream), a Staging and Lighting Engineer (Lean on Me), an Actress (The Sound of Music), a Movie Voice-over Singer (Moana), she teaches Music and Voice at University, she is the Author of four novels and a treatise on the New Testament, speaks three languages, and is an Artist in Pen and Ink and Watercolor. She is a shy, humble, generous, kind, and spiritual person with a charming personality who is always stunningly beautiful with innocent eyes, a little-girl voice, a lilting laugh, and a smile that melts the hardest heart. One was Korean woman named Joan Aso who wanted to argue forever that I didn't know what I was talking about with my Lean on Me post about Sohyang. Finally another person came along and told her she was just argumentative and anyone could see she was only being negative. Another guy was a Morrisette fan and did not like it that I praised Sohyang so fulsomely with the same post I placed on this site. He wanted to argue forever that his fave was the best. So finally I just muted him and ignored him. The last guy also complained that I had posted such a thorough examination of her Lean On Me performance. What small and pathetic lives some people lead that they search KZread for people they can try and make miserable, just like they are miserable. 🤷‍♂

@ToddSauve Yep. They are in every crowd and this is a big crowd. I have copied out and saved a couple of classic arguments just like the ones you were involved in. There is a singing coach named Sam Johnson. I didn't have a big argument with Sam. I just kinda blew him up with facts. He actually thinks that he can teach EVERYONE to sing, and when he heard Sohyang, he said he was pissed because he wasn't sure he could teach everyone to sing like her. What a Narcissist. Just NUTS. Anyway, Yeah, I also get a lot of that from Comments on the Political blogs. I'm well known as a Conspiracy Theorist, and if you cross me, I will leave you naked and bleeding. @@daveg.6820 KZread blocks many of my posts also. Hardly a day goes by that one of them will be deleted or blocked repeatedly, such that I simply cannot even post an answer to someone. I wish there was a decent competitor to KZread but for the time being we are all stuck with them and their manipulations of what can be said and not said. Free speech is not in existence here. And I'm not trying to harm anyone but simply post a link to another video they sponsor from a group who believe in intelligent design. But it gets deleted immediately. The people who run this site are tin pot tyrants who hate the very idea that we are created beings. So while they host videos by the Discovery Institute, they block every attempt by anyone to steer others their to hear their arguments. I don't even know how long this post will remain here.
