Its amazing how some people only know Paula Abdul from her days on American Idol. She was a Laker girl, she choreographed for many artist including Janet Jackson, and when she put out her debut album Forever Your Girl, it sold millions in 1988, and she won numerous awards in the coming years for that. She is still incredible and is still out there touring, so if you guys get a chance, go catch her! Thanks for such a fun reaction!

Well if a person is really young unless they look for older artists or someone exposes it to them they won't know the person"s older work. Also if there are people that don't listen to certain genres of music so they have no clue who certain people are.

Yes, they should definitely react to Toni Basil if they haven't already. She had at least one hit ( " Mickey " ) in early 80's, but did a lot of choreography and dancing since early in the 60's including Elvis Presley movies such as " Viva Las Vegas ". I believe Paula and many others were inspired by her.

I know exactly how many #1 hits she had from, ‘Forever Your Girl.’ I use to follow her career. I played that cassette tape until it fell apart! 😄 The disappointment was that, Abdul didn’t blow up until, she released, “Straight Up.” It looked like the budget for that video was less than the budget for, the two previous videos, ‘Knocked Out’ and ‘The Way That You Love Me.’ But, the third time, third single, was the charm. 💯👍🏿🙂

When this came on the car stereo, she yelled to me, “Stop the car. Pull over.” So I did as I was told. Paula Abdul and Debbie Allen are two incredibly talented women in the dance community. Both dancers turned choreographers as well as both judges on talent shows. Paula Abdul on American Idol and both guest judged on So You Think You Can Dance. I remember Paula from her days as a Laker Girl, Laker fan here so I remember her on the cheerleading squad. I remember Debbie Allen from Fame, A Different World and Grey's Anatomy. They helped inner city kids find a way off the streets and onto a stage or music video or even a talent show. I remember just dancing to Paula's music and watching Fame with Debbie Allen. Even though Debbie Allen is not a singer, it could be cool for your daughter to watch her dancing videos too. Fun Fact: Debbie Allen is Phylicia Rashad's sister and even appeared on an episode of The Cosby Show with her.

I remember that show. I had it recorded. I'm a fan of both Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. I saw Sammy on one of his final tours with Frank Sinatra and Liza Minelli in 1988. One of best concerts ever. Sammy stole the show! I was also blessed to meet Gregory Hines while at work. I was working at Camelot Music. He and his wife came to show. They visiting cities to plan his one man show tour. I recommended a couple of venues and he purchased a Muddy Waters cd and 2 Oleta Adams ones. I told him what a honor it was to meet him, how I loved his work, and how he would be the closest entertainer I would likely meet to Sammy Davis, Jr. As he left, he asked for my phone number and the store's. When he returned to perform he called.and invited me and my girlfriend to have dinner with him and his wife, along with attend his show. One of my life's fondest memories. Later, I was surprised to see his appearance in the film "Bojangles." I later recieved word that he had passed away from cancer. Very sad. He was only 56 I think.

Paula is a singer, dancer, actress and choreographer who was a Laker’s cheerleader at 18 and became their head choreographer where she was discovered by The Jacksons. She was Janet Jackson’s choreographer. What a talent!

I have said it many times on your channel... the 80s was so positive. What a great time to be alive. First 10 years of my life! Everything was so much more upbeat and happy back then. Then we got in to the 90s and it got very dark. Huge contrast!

Going to see New Kids and Paula this summer. I have seen New Kids several times over the past few years, It's such a fun show. But the second I heard Paula was coming I was sooooo excited. Have wanted to see her since I was 10 years old. My friend is bringing her daughter who is about 10. It is going to be a blast!

What you said about this and the 80's is so on point, because I was a teenager in the 80's, I graduated in 86, and this is what I remember about the music of my youth. The songs of Paula and Janet and Sheena and Michael and all the hair bands....this is IT. This is what I remember coming home after school and watching on MTV and dancing to at our teen parties. This is the soundtrack of my youth and I love it when younger generations appreciate how great it was. Paula was my queen and she always will be.

Music like this makes people happy. Same with the other upbeat, danceable songs of the 80s (& at the end of the 70s & into the early 90s.) When people are singing, dancing & smiling - & THEN interact with others, the situation always goes better. People are nicer to each other, there is less impatience & hostility etc. People don't realise HOW MUCH music affects our disposition & then our interaction with others. I am hoping with all of the young reactors out there like J. & Amber, there will be MORE airplay by them in their daily lives - that DOES get shared with friends & family - who then also spread it & that it makes us "older folk" listen to this music with them & on our own again & cause music producers to notice the trend & then produce NEW music that will give that same sort of happy, upbeat, danceable style - esp. (but this is too far to dream if that new music is without the level of depressed value of women & more obscenity in "dance" moves. There is sexy but then there is just straight vulgar.) Maybe at least some of the hate, nastiness & violence would go away in this world & people would become kinder, more patient & more compassionate towards each other! Just my thoughts.

❤Paula is so great. Yes, Paula has inspired your daughter. The way the incredible Gene Kelly(a tap GOAT) inspired Paula the same way. Please watch Singing in The Rain☔ She will love it and you will too. It is a bucket list movie and family friendly. Debbie Reynolds(Carrie Fishers Mom) and the amazing Donald O'Conner are in it too. Your girls need to see Fred and Ginger dance along with many others. Tap is a lost art and Paula really helped to keep it alive. These dancers are worth studying if you love beautiful dance.

Sarah Lois Vaughan was an American jazz singer and pianist. Nicknamed "Sassy" and "The Divine One", she won two Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, and was nominated for a total of nine Grammy Awards. She was given an NEA Jazz Masters Award in 1989. One of her best live performances is "Sarah Vaughan - Misty (Live from Sweden) Mercury Records 1964" She would be perfect for Female Friday.

Her album was the first thing I ever saved up my allowance to buy 😄I wanted to be a dancer so badly, but my mom couldn't afford lessons. As an adult I just changed careers after 15 years as a professional dance teacher 💛💚💜
