SNP now ‘frightened’ of election as coalition collapses | Alex Salmond

“The trick to running a minority government is to have the opposition more frightened of an election than you are. And it's not certain that that's the position in the Scottish government and parliament at the present moment. I think the SNP are probably the most frightened of an election of all.”
Former first minister of Scotland Alex Salmond says that Humza Yousaf has made Alba's Ash Regan the "most powerful MSP in the Scottish Parliament".

Only the Tories - bizarrely - are against Humza's criminal anti-free speech laws. Now, the BBC has apologised for falsely claiming "in some of our output" that the act made it a criminal offence in Scotland to make “derogatory comments” based on the legislation's protected characteristics. READ MORE: Humza Yousaf urges critics to stop spreading hate crime 'misinformation' The broadcaster said in their correction: "This was inaccurate and we should have referred to the act creating a new crime where it is an offence if someone communicates material or behaves in a threatening or abusive manner with the intention of 'stirring up hatred' based on these protected characteristics.

They added: "We apologise for any confusion caused and have reminded our teams of the importance of accuracy in our output." A large amount of the controversy surrounding the new law focused on the expanded grounds for prosecution on the grounds of “stirring up hatred” against a group. Since 1986, it has been illegal in the UK to stir up racial hatred and homophobic hate crimes have been on the statute books since 2008 in England and Wales. The new law creates new offences for stirring up hatred against people because of their disability, religion, transgender identity, sexuality, age or variation in sex characteristics.

The SNP have totally lost the plot. Originally the aim was Independence but NOTHING has been done to prepare the country for that. A total lack of investment in the fiscal and infrastructures necessary to provide a realistic move to Independence - a £ 20 Billion budget deficit and a total lack of recognition that the RUK is the prime marketplace (60+% by revenue) as well as being the only real means of access to other markets is certainly not that.

What this is really about is Youssaf expects to lose left leaning voters to Labour in the more urban Scottish central belt whatever he does, so he's decided to avoid loss of votes to the Tories and Liberal Democrats in Scottish rural seats where the SNP have a better chance as neither of those opponents are doing particularly well.

Scottish Labour, a contradiction of terms. Why is Labour not demanding a Westminster Election now, why didn't they last year? Jackie Bailey talks the usual nonsense, imbued with the usual trite clichés. There is only one way out of the endless cost of living crisis, Independence. Labour will continue the very cause of the cost of living crisis as it is now known. Certainly Labour under Corbyn would have changed things for the better, but Starmer, he's an Establishment stooge, just as Bailey, Sarwar, etc, are Westminster stooges. They may think Colonialism is good for Scotland and us Scots, those who know differently, know their recent and historic history. Labour, the Party which returned money for Scottish projects back to their Westminster Masters to be petted and praised for being such good little dogs. Sure the present SNP is not the answer, but we do have alternative choices. Scots for Scots and Scotland.

That’s right. You won’t even discuss the disaster that is Brexit and won’t hold another referendum on rejoining for fear of then having to agree to another Scottish independence referendum. Which you know unionists will lose. If you think former Labour voters, like me, are going to vote for you ever again you’re even more deluded than Starmer’s pet haggis Sarwar.
