Eduard Hasegawa Harrier GR.7/9 Snow Airfield Diorama in 1/48 scale by The Inner Nerd
Instructional time lapse video of the full build, painting and weathering of a Snow Airfield Diorama featuring the BAe Harrier GR.7/9 by Eduard Hasegawa in 1/48 scale as shown by The Inner Nerd
The first part of this video shows the use of Tamiya acrylics to create a base layer of the tarmac underneath the Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit. All paints are thinned using Tamiya acrylic thinner X-20A. AK Interactive Worn Effects weathering effects is used in 3 layers over the tarmac to create a barrier layer in which the AK Interactive Snow Microballoons will be applied.
Tamiya white is applied over the AK Interactive Worn Effects weathering effects medium to make a base snow effect for the AK Interactive Snow Microballoons. This is applied in a rough pattern to create variances in the colour. AK Interactive Worn Effects weathering effects medium is then activated using water and agitated using a brush. The tarmac is slowly revealed underneath the painted snow layer as the AK Interactive Worn Effects dissolves.
The snow effect of the snow airfield Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit diorama is then achieved by applying layers of hairspray to adhere the AK Interactive Snow Effects Microballoons to the tarmac. AK Interactive Snow Effects Microballoons is applied in two layers to achieve a medium/thick snow effect around the shape of the Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit outline.
Ladders and chocks are scratch built from Evergreen Styrene rods and brass sheet to match the scale of the Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit. Tamiya Extra Thin Fast Drying Cement is used for this to quickly create bonds between the Evergreen Styrene rods. These ladders and chocks will be placed on the snow airfield diorama for the Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit.
Abteilung 502 and Winsor & Newton oil paints are used to create weathering and footsteps in the AK Interactive Snow Effects Microballoons. Oil spills and fuel stains are replicated using the Abteilung 502 and Winsor & Newton oil paints underneath the Eduard Harrier GR7 in 1/48 scale model kit to discolour the AK Interactive Snow Effects Microballoons

    Hello, thank you for viewing my display base for Eduard Harrier GR7 ZD379. I hope you enjoyed the video and remember to activate subtitles using the ""CC Closed Captions" option in the video menu. I hope you like the display, I am planning on more complex dioramas in the future so please comment your thoughts on what I should do next! This was my first ever go at any type of scenery so wanted to keep it simple but I got a lot of learning from it. Many thanks and happy modelling The Inner Nerd

    The dio is great. Simple. But not everything in life beefs to be complicated. What I'm most pleased about (and respect for addressing the problem) is that you built the kit, acknowledged there was a problem with the centerline wheels, went away and did something about it. That's put my respect value up 10 fold. Bravo. And it worked. Looks miles better

    WOW !!!! What a brilliant but simple diorama, totally enthralled by your ability to throw a few things at a base, and come up with an excellent addition to a build.. also many thanks for showing the ladder 'build', I'm currently just about to finish a Carrier Deck dio with the Kinetic 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS.1 and after buying a 'Photoetch' ladder I've found although it's 1/48 scale it looks to small to actually fit. so thankfully when some supplies arrive i can build one based on your measurements... cheers, keep up the good work mate.. best wishes chris

    There's already several ladders out there for 1/48 scale Harrier. David J. Parkins has some photo-etch Harrier ladders on his online store. Hannants in the UK also has some photo-etch ladders for the Harrier and other RAF planes.

    Yes I've seen a lot of images and looked in all the shops for some PE ones. There are a lot available bit none for the GR7 or 9 variants. Mainly sea Harrier or GR3 which looking at the reference images are different to the ones used at Bardufoss on the GR7

    I remember it well 2004 Operation Snow Falcon it was actually IV (AC) that were out there as I was one of the Armourers on that Squadron, just that Cottesmore 1F, 3F and us on IV used to borrow each others A/C that were servicable and had enough hours on between any large service. Happy Days..................

    If I can find some aftermarket ones then yes but I don't intend to buy a whole set just to get one decal off for this one. Seems a waste of money since its just on a shelf at home. Not accurate I know but it's not being assessed by an IPMS judge there 😄

    Great Harrier. Quick tip when photographing a white object dont use a white backdrop...its horrendous to look at. Dark grey or plain black...

  • @TheInnerNerd

    @TheInnerNerd

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you. And yes I agree, I would have used black but since a lot of other KZreadrs use black I wanted this to be uniquely "Inner Nerdy". I keep getting confused for Plasmo, which isn't a bad thing I guess, but it would be nice not to be called David since I'm not him 😅 also makes the base look like it's edgless which I thought might be cool

    The Inner Nerd seeing as I’m a fan of the arts and grew in a photography loving household, I see these things. Also why I watch you and other guys like Plasmo and ScaleModelAircraft. You guys produce works of art. My model building is definitely not on this level lol.
