This beautiful scrappy Snowflake Quilt is actually a lot easier to make than you might think.
I started out with making 68 HST’s that measured 2 inches unfinished and then cut 119 light coloured squares at 2 inches for my snowflake and then cut 313 background squares.
After all my pieces were cut I just followed my drawing to lay out all my pieces to form a scrappy light coloured snowflake with a scrappy blue background.
This pattern is beginner friendly so if you’re new to quilting this is still very doable.
My squares started at 2 inches and once sewn together they finished at 1.5 inches so with 20 squares going across and 25 going down I ended up with a wall hanging measuring 30x37.5
If you’d like yours bigger it’s easily done by just cutting your starting squares bigger. You’ll still need the same number of snowflake, background and hst squares just bigger to start. I hope you enjoy making your own version as much as I enjoyed making mine.
Some examples of quilt sizes.
Starting squares size = quilt size
2” = 30x37.5
2.5”= 40x50
3”. = 50x62.5
3.5”= 60x75
4”. = 70x87.5
4.5”=80x100
5” =90x112.5
