Man-boy was interesting because he was all about the business at first...he didn't really care who liked him or not ... He was solid to the game until it ended up getting personal
Andre being killed with his "missing" weapon doesn't bring too much attention because they never believed him in the first place and fired him.Therefor him using it to commit suicide would just strengthen their call about it.

I think it was more so the police not caring about Andre’s death than the writers making a mistake with the gun. In a way, you can say that Andre’s death and the police handling of it (or lack thereof) was symbolic to their handling of the drug epidemic in that neighborhood. They never gave af about the drugs messing up that community because it wasn’t theirs. Just like they didn’t care about what Drugs was doing to that community, they didn’t care about the person trying to expose what was going on (Andre). They showed time after time how much they didn’t care about Andre while he was alive. And Franklin told Andre they didn’t give af about him. That’s what I got from it. Fire breakdown. I agree. The LA police did not have a good rep during that time at all, unfortunately...Not like they are glowing now, but it was very corrupt then and everyone knew it.

@JamaalNoland

Lol
“Looking for the right way to do the wrong thing” that line sums up Franklins entire mindset
Season 3 was the best season. It was a movie 🎥
One more thing....I noticed when Wanda took Mel's money to go get their crack when she passed ol boy going into the house, she gives him a subtle point in the direction of Mel signifying that she had set everything up and planned for Mel's car to get jacked. One of her many "serpentine" moves...to add on it how you know she set Mel up to get more rocks is the amount of crack they smoked that episode. Mel only had $20 but they were smoking all day because Wanda had more rocks for the car
Love Franklin he’s smart ash and he always seeks answers it’s like it’s almost a must every-time
(imo) the overlooking of Andre's death should be the writers presenting their point of how black people were portrait back in the 80s. They were expected to slip and fuck up in some way and once they do, they are of no use to the community (or in this case, to the police/government). It could also be a continuation of the corrupted system and another record of somebody pulling the strings from above (case 1 being Teddy pulling Franklin out of jail). I was waiting a long time for your breakdown, thanks buddy, awesome job again! I think Season 3 was the best so far, although all are amazing and season 5 has the potential to be the best one.

@robhillva

I took it as them falling back on their belief that his missing weapon story was BS. It was the 80's so cameras everywhere were not a thing. Plus, all of his fellow LEOs left before he and the woman got real cozy. I took it as them looking at it as he had been overstepping and messing up all season combined with the issues with Mel suicide was the most likely reason and he never really lost his gear.

@@StaGeeOfficial I Agree. Why did Andre even report his gun and badge got stolen, and report that he got rolled? it was like he was going to confession at church. Why say anything. Did he really believe LAPD cared about him? His union rep didn't even try to help until he confronted him. Andre has al ready seen plenty of examples of the racist police culture. Maybe he thought he was the exception because he was a cop? Andre was a true believer and he got screwed. He should have never even reported it. He could have avoided the suspension. But he goes to his bosses and tells them what happened. And they don't believe him.

When Javie tells Franklin earlier about "when ppl get greedy...the expose their weakness" he was foreshadowing his own weakness once he was speaking about the 1.5 million. I understand that it was most likely a Crips vs. Blood thing, but I never really understood narratively why Manboy and Skully started feuding, especially since they were sort of family. Unless their being sort of family was part of the reason in the first place. It was kind of glossed over. I am not sure if that was due to Singleton's death.

@@JamaalNoland I guess, but it still seemed to be rushed to me, as they did not seem to be at odds more than either was with Franklin's crew. It was just that the show did a major time-jump just as things were spiraling out of control. @@playoffp7452 Sure, but in the Season 3 finale time-jump, I remember Manboy and his gang attacking Skully's neighborhood first.
When Franklin goes to college, I new it was more or less a dream but I choose to take it as a memory. You can really view it either way, cause I remember early season 1 it’s brought up once or twice him not going to college but he never gives a definitive reason why other than he just wants to be his own man. And its twisted to view it that way when you see all the interconnections between Teddy and his motivation to say f*** the system. I think it makes more sense that way. Also shows how smart he is as well. And when he says “she on rock” that hurt my hear t man and you can hear his tone and see his face. He’s not like that in any other seen. Raw, vulnerable, slightly hopeless, but still trying to hold strong and hold back. He could have done more to try and save Mel and she deserved that from him.
