SNOWBOUND AT THE CABIN. Epic Snow Storm Makes Off Grid Living Awesome. Cabin Life Vlog

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this episode, We are getting dumped on with a record breaking snowstorm. We are literally snowed in and unable to navigate the trail down the mountain. 42" of fresh powder has our Polaris Ranger on tracks dragging bottom and digging in. No snowmobiles have been by the cabin in 5 days so it'll be up to us to break trail once the temps climb and snow compacts a bit. All is well here at the cabin. We are well stocked with food and essentials and loving the adventure. Epic storms make off grid living awesome.

The scenery was 360° eye candy with the Fall colors as a backdrop against the Ozark lake. We got buried like that in December 3 different storms one right after the other in one weeks time we set records to as I recall. Were still dealing with walls of snow along our paths to the out house chickens and rabbits. The good news is your closer to spring than we were. I used my tractor to keep us dug out at least our storms had a short window between each other so I could keep up. Storms like this in life is why we prepare. I can totally relate. I'm about six miles from the South Gate of Yosemite, and we've had (at least)12 feet of snow. We were totally snowed in for a week and a half- when we opened the door there was a solid wall of snow (we live in a dome, so the snow that slid off the roof just piled up on the sides). I crawled out of a window that was beneath an upstairs porch so there was about three feet of clear space, and yelled till my neighbors across the road heard me and sent a team of guys with snow shovels to clear a path (one shovel-width wide) from the road up to the dome. It took another team a couple of days to find and clear my little SUV and get it on the road. I went to town and loaded upon groceries & canned goods. I have never been in this much snow in my life. We had three or four feet deep snow every year when I was growing up, but this is a completely different experience. I'm glad you guys are OK -preparedness is awesome!

😳 stay safe and warm Gerald. One thing I've noticed that you&Boss have in common is attitude! That definitely seems to be trait that gets you all through times like this. A positive attitude and everything is an adventure or challenge to conquer! 🤗❤️🙏

@@thebossoftheswamp my cabin is about 25 Mike's south of Lake Superior and between normal snowstorms and the lake effect snow it's been crazy. I'll never complain but I'm ready for spring to hit up there. Got a lot of projects up there to get rolling on. Cheers!

As your chickens said, "What the CLUCK !!" I was watching this storm as it hit because I have family in NH , VT and the MA coast area. (family includes you, Lori and Tilly) Almost as much snow as the winter of 77, five foot in Salem, Ma. Now that was some thing else and digging DOWN to find our car was no fun. Yet we were at home with food and heat. Second one was SIX feet of snow on the way home from a visit to family north of Boston in Jan 1985. Got caught in white out conditions on HWY 81 north in New York state. It was a blizzard with lake effect snow. We spent 3 days with many others staying in the Sandy Creek fire hall before the storm ended and the highway was cleared. Nice thing is the town fed us all and took care of us which I am still grateful for. Wonderful to see Lori up and doing well. I remember getting two feet of snow in one winter storm when I lived in Ontario, Canada. I shoveled off the concrete deck and then let the dogs out. Out little cairn terrier tore off to get to the back yard, leaped , hit the snow and sank up to her neck. She was stuck! It took me a bit to get to her as I was laughing so hard.

Glad Lori is home and doing well. I had 14 inches from that storm here in the southern Adirondacks. I was lucky the snow slid off the driveway side of the roof before my plow guy showed up. The snowbanks in the front, side and back of the house are between 6 and 8 feet tall. We did have rain on Friday and the daytime temps have been above freezing. All the snowmobile trails are closed, and the lakes have been unsafe for winter activities for a while now.

My Mom and I walked ten miles to work at a hospital with snow past our hips. We tag teamed it in, but I was exhausted getting there.

Wow, just wow! We had just enough snow last Sunday that there was a dusting on the roofs, but it had stopped before I woke up. I didn’t actually get to see it come down. It didn’t last but just a little while before there was no sign of it at all. I think we had a few flakes falling one other time this winter that only last a few minutes with no accumulation at all. That’s the difference in North Carolina vs. New Hampshire. You are one hardy soul. I’d probably stroke out after two shovels of that much snow. Glad to see Lori getting around.

Snow bound isn't a bad thing when you're prepared. This winter is better than last here in my neck of the woods. Snowed all week at 1 job, but getting plowed out just in time, to get to my other one .. Blessings ✝ to you both (& Tillie).

Our snow was more of the heavy wet variety. I put off blowing, raking and shoveling until after the first day. Even if you'd gotten out, everything was pretty much closed. Looks like folks stayed home so the plows could do their work. Storms like this are an adventure as well as an Indicator of how well you did your prep. And you sure have done your prep.
