Pete is actually Disney's oldest character; during the Oswald shorts, he was a bear that antagonized Oswald. When he lost the rights to Oswald, he kept the character Pete, he just changed him into a cat.

I'm guessing the bear is an early version of Pete. To be honest, I really like this bear character a lot more than Pete! If he was brought back in future cartoons, I wonder what his voice would sound like.

+Xylo Piano You know, it would be pretty cool if he was a contrast to Pete. Maybe having a baritone kind of voice, and probably a bit more clever in comparison. I never really liked that burly characters like Pete and Bluto were always portrayed as stupid.

***** That would be great. It would be like the Daffy Duck equivalent of a villain. The irony would be the greatest. He's this super big opposing figure, but then gets struck by lightning or something. Everyone laughs at him because he's a shriveled up, burnt crumb. X'D

Well when color came into the picture of cartoons, characters began to get more details on their appearance to look less bland and began to get more human like features and became less rubber like beings.

That appeared in Epic Mickey actually. I think he should be holding both their hands, because he couldn't have gotten anywhere without their help.

They sure made a perfect couple back in the Ol' Days :D

5:53 Pete's plan fails

If you think about it, maybe Ub Iwerks (the animator) couldn't draw a pocket knife back then and he drew a simpler knife instead. Or, maybe the swiss army knife wasn't invented yet.

I liked it when Ortensia was t-posing in the corner

Thus Ortansia, with her underpants gun, is truly his match!

This is so much better than most present-day cartoons like "Yo Gabba Gabba!" or "Dora the Explorer" or even "Phineas and Ferb." These people were decades ahead of their time back in the day! I wish there were more people like Oswald... *sigh*

For being made by Universal Pictures, they did a good job at making Oswald cartoons still enjoyable until the big changes that came around during the 1930's.
