What a cool gift. You are really lucky to have such a great partner. You can really see your enthusiasm for the snowskate and it's really fun to watch you train on the thing. Getting such a huge and heavy board into an ollie without popping. Insane! Unfortunately, the snow never stays around long enough for me to even own a snowskate. But seeing you on that thing really helps me get through the winter blues. Keep it up.

aw thank you Daniel! You're so positive and kind. Always a pleasure to read your comments. It's funny..I think you can see my enthusiasm for it grow in the video itself haha it's definitely fun if you have some snow that sticks around for a bit. Would be a shame to only use it once or twice a year though. So, i get that! It's why I waited to get one myself. I couldn't use it where I was living before.

Yoooo!!!! What a gift duuude!!! Snowskating is really hard tho. I mean, theres no pop.. like theres almost no leverage. So... I'd say ride on grinds and slides is the way to go on that thing.

When I was looking at what existed in the world of snowskates I also saw that places make and sell boards that are raised up off of basically what is essentially a ski. They were expensive but I feel like someone could DIY something wacky like that together with used gear. When the snow melts, a regular board is going to feel so light to you :)

Those boards are for the slopes, you tether them to your body. The flat board that she is using is for street skating but on snow.

I just had a snowskate session today as well! Don't give up. You're off to a good start. Snowskating is kind of it's own new thing. It has a lot of similarities with skateboarding, but a lot of things feel different, and there are little things that you end up doing differently. But you'll kind of figure out what works for you as you go. I'm glad you have the prism grip. That is an absolute necessity. Something you might want to look into more is the shoes. Vans MTEs are made specifically for snowskating. That was the next piece (besides the grip) that leveled up my snowskating. I have the MTE 2 shoes. They have a good level of warmth, keep water out pretty well, and still have some board feel so that they still feel like a skate shoe. Good luck out there. You got this.

ah I didn't realize the vans mtes were for snow skating. I couldn't find much on shoe recommendations when I was looking into it. I ended up getting a winterized etnies pair of shoes. The toes could have been insulated a little more, but they're working out great for me! I love the sole pattern. Gives me a lot of grip on the prism grip tape. Having a lot of fun! Thanks for the shoe rec. Next time, I might have to go for those after my new pair are torn up eventually haha

ooooh 360 shuv it practice! I feel like tricks like that are what snow skating might bring out in your practices, and like another commenter said, it would be so cool if when you get on a regular board again it feels light as a a feather. here's hoping you find some sort of rewarding routine in this new venture!!

Thanks! I definitely feel shoves as a good snow skate niche to fall into. I'm really hoping learning to FS shove it on the snow skate better will translate into better fs shove its on flat. That would be awesome haha

@@SarahParkMatott on a regular deck I would slide my foot way too late. It took the very high kicks of the snow skate to realize that. Tony Hawks trick tips breaking down ollies in slow motion definitely helped me out too.

I'd like to see a video of one of these snow skates actually going down a ski run. How are they at speed? Could you hang with a snowboarder on one? All the Ambition videos (which are great BTW) are all tricks at spots and you are trying flat ground tricks how does cruise down the slopes?
