Snow Craft Generations : Mervin Manufacturing | TransWorld SNOWboarding

Спорт

In the mid ’80s Mervin Manufacturing’s Mike Olson and Pete Saari were some of the first board makers to move away from using fins to turn and introduce camber and metal edges, helping to define the modern snowboard. But back then, the snowboard industry was in its infancy and before long the guys were 150,00 dollars in debt. The new season of Snow Craft kicks off with a look at what it took for Olson and Saari to get the Gnu and Lib Tech brands off the ground.
Snow Craft is TransWorld’s original video series, created by Lukas and Jesse Huffman, celebrating grassroots board builders past and present. The new series, Snow Craft Generations, looks at the triumphs and failures of Dimitrije Milovich from Winterstick, and Pete Saari and Mike Olson from Mervin Manufacturing, as well as some up and coming board shapers. It’s a must watch for anyone who calls themselves a snowboarder

I rode a Skate Banana made by Mervin from 2010-2020. I took that snowboard all across North America and Japan. Great Snowboard that helped give me some of the best moments of my life. Thank you Mike and Pete. You guys changed my life.

First board I ever owned was a Gnu Chaos that I bought in 1989 or 1990. It was bright fluorescent yellow with the green squiggly line down the center.

Mervin is Truly The Best, and like snowboarding in general they continue to innovate in new and awesome ways (banana, manga traction, eco materials, made in USA etc). My only request is to make more 148-151cm boards so I can finally buy one. I know a few boards have those sizes but most don't. Guess it's supply/demand I just would have thought/hoped the demand was there.

Longer boards = faster ride, stronger edge hold. Depends what you are looking for.

6:43 Those first Jamie Lynn boards are the best... Nearly impossible to find these days. I haven't seen any for sale in years. Having him do a lot of their graphics made a huge difference in how the brand became perceived. I thought Mervin was kind of lame before they really featured him. Lots of day-glo. With Jamie's influence their boards made others look dead. I hang old Lib Tech boards in my house as art. Anyone with an extra Whale board lying around let me know lol.
