that old air pistol is very high quality,, way back when I was a kid they use to advertise Webley revolvers in gun magazines, I always wanted to get one , I think it was something like .455 ,not sure, but I think it was about .45 caliber.. they were cheap back then around 35.00 but then they had many great guns in those magazines and they were cheap,, then came the 68 gun laws and all that went away.

I inherited my grandads Webley pistol exactly the same as the one being worked on. It's still boxed and like new. My grandads brother brought it back with him after being away on the cargo ships. At least I know what one looks like in bits. All the best 👍🏻

@@KozmykJ Mine was a flying wing for combat flying built from plans with a PAW (progress aero works) 2.5cc diesel engine. We made our own diesel fuel in those days, equal measures of castrol R racing oil, ether, paraffin and if we could persuade the chemist a few drops of amyl nitrite but usually he would only sell us amyl nitrate which meant we lost quite a lot of rpm on the top end. We'd probably get arrested now if we tried to buy that stuff now. Hope John can give us a good view of his dad's model collection, those Taplin motors are a thing of beauty and I for one would love to hear and smell them running. 👍

Hi there The endplugs on Webley pistols are usually chewed because people try unscrewing them not realising that they have a rivet to stop them coming unscrewed accidentally!! I would first degrease everything with soap & water, then let all the parts sit overnight in Evapo-Rust or a similar rust converter product, then brush with a nylon bristle brush to remove the black Evapo-Rust by product. Once you have reached that stage, I would re-evaluate to determine how to proceed. The last thing I would use is any abrasive material until I could see the true condition of the Webley.

And that pulse jet I find very intresting Those dents in the combustion chamber area probly help the "stainless" deal with the expansion. And that pellet pistol WOW! Get a cheap like crossman rifle barrel and expieriment with length / velocity/ volume a wood dowel and wad and a marking pen to find ther twist rate of the one you have. Rust removal / manganese oxide/ Iron filings from an old crankshaft/ for the blueing heck with patina that thing needs to look new and work even better with a two stage trigger
