Athena's name is magic... Mystery, is what you see... Her crystal is the answer... Fighting fair... To keep us free... She's just a little girl with power inside... Burning bright... You'd better hide if you are baaaaaad... She'll get you... She'll read your mind and find if... You believe in right or wroooooong!... Fire, Fire, Psycho Soldier! Fire, Fire, Psycho Soldier!

That had to pull in some attention. I grew up near a large theme park with a huge arcade...every quarter that went into the Micheal Jackson "Moonwalker" game elicited the famous "HeeHee"sound..it sure didn't take long for everyone in the arcade to start doing it in unison each and everytime someone started a game. Same with Smash TV "I'll buy that for a dollar!" and then later with Maddog Mcree everyone would do the nervous guy's entire speech, and then his drawling "Youuu ooonnnlllyyy gooottt ooonnee liiifffee lefftttt." I never came across Psycho Soldier, but man, it would have really fit in!

It's absolutely mindblowing that that song from Psycho Soldier was not intended as parody. Every line sounds like a cartoon theme song cliche that's been rewritten by a five-year-old, and appropriately, the singer sounds like she's imitating a five-year-old.

The gallery and especially the "watch" feature in this collection are really great additions! I just got a Neo Geo AES this year, and a lot of the games on it had prequels that were on their own arcade cabinet before the Neo Geo was created; which is what this collections seems to be about: playing the prequels that weren't on the Neo Geo. If you played King Of Fighters and want to know where Athena, Sie Kensou, Clark, and Ralf came from, get this collection. If you played Alpha Mission 2 and want to play the 1st game, get this collection. If you played Prehistoric Isle 2 and want to play the 1st one, get this collection. If you played Dark Arms - Beast Buster for the Neo Geo Pocket and want to play the original light gun game (it was also one of Michael Jackson's favorite games) get this collection. I never played any of these games, so I know I will be getting my money's worth out of this collection by not already having any ports of these games. I usually don't like collection games and prefer to get the original games on their original systems to get the authentic way they were meant to be played. But since most of these games were made for the arcade, and you know how much space and money an arcade cabinet takes up, I'll make an exception for this collection.

I'm about the target age, close to 40, but the only game I have a lot love for is Crystalis, and although I remember seeing POW, Street Smart, Ikari Warriors, and Athena, I didn't play them extensively so Crystalis is the only game I feel nostalgic about. That said, the soundtrack and museum sections seem great features. The free DLC sounds awesome as well. So probably the collection is worth the asking price just for having a legal way to play Crystalis? I'm leaning a little bit towards yes...

"You better hide if you are bad" Amazing song writing. So stoked they recorded that song on an overdubbed cassette.

Great work, Johnny! Found myself being charmed by this review, and I felt that sweet nostalgia gently carrying me over to Amazon... THEN, the ANGER hit me, as I remembered Athena on NES ... AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGHHH! ; )

A lot of these games I have played back in the 89 90's and some I have never played or knew about, and I love the portable side of it, and Im glad to see these games come back from the dead, I wish SNK would release this on PS4 that would be cool too. Cool review Bro.

Great video Johnny. If I had a Switch I'd buy this game collection just for Crystalis. I rented it a lot back in the day. I really hope Nintendo releases more of these retro game collections.

Regarding the psycho soldier theme, if you search for "psycho soldier theme cassette" you'll find the version of the song that came with famicom copies.

Crystalis (Crysta-liss is how I've always said it) is a classic game for me. Also I totally forgot about P.O.W.! I remember playing that at the local Beckers as a kid. Gonna pick this collection up!

Don’t have a Switch yet, but this plus the Atari collection has made me think about Black a Friday deals , although I also don’t have a PS4 and I could obtain that cheaper... 🤔

SNK ALL THE WAY!!! I own several of these arcade cabinets in the RGL arcade. You and I are gonna have to give em a run at some point. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I had not heard about this one! This is an insta-buy for me!!!

Nice video as always Johnny. No wonder you never played Psycho Soldier in the arcade, it had an extremely limited release in the West. It is the first game with a vocal song as the audio track. How did they manage the Rotary Controls on this collection ?

Now that is batshit insane, I thought it was going to be only the arcade versions of these games, but they included the console versions too? Damn, you just convinced me this game is going to be worth its weight in gold, I'll definitely have to get it. Thank you for showcasing this.

Hi Johnny! Great review of historic SNK games, I recall playing them when I was a little kid, Street Smart was so cool! And POW in particular, I couldn't believe my eyes as a kid, and I wished my NES could have managed to showcase those amazing graphics lol, BTW, on topic: you experienced the same thing with the KOF94 song, like I did when booting up my copy of policenauts and realizing they play the intro song in Metal gear as well... great video Johnny!
