Just broke with my GF 3 months ago, she is talking to me now. This song made me cry. Earing a lyric that speaks the same feeling that anyone is going through touches right in the soul.

What a beautiful song. His voice made it even more heartfelt. I am actually sobbing as I write this as I learned that this darling man died. I am heartbroken as I just discovered him two days ago and have been watching all his videos on KZread since. R. I. P. Dear Ray. Thank you for making me laugh and cry. It was my pleasure.

He was much, much more than just a lounge singer. He received a degree in music from the University of Wales and moved to Canada in 1955, where he started a career as an orchestrator and composer for CBC Radio and CBC Television. He and his songwriting partner, Marian Grudeff, wrote their first Broadway musical, Baker Street, in 1964. He later moved to Hollywood, where he wrote musicals and sketches for The Dean Martin Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Smothers Brothers Show, The Bob Newhart Show and others. In the 1970s and 1980s he was a writer and editor for numerous episodes of The Love Boat and Head of the Class, among other series, and co-wrote lyrics for I Remember Mama in 1979. Yes, much more than a lounge singer, indeed!

A lot of music these days is simply business. Ray's music was art. You can hear the difference in every song. He conveyed precisely what he intended, and brilliantly at that. This is not the type of music you listen to in the background, but the type of music you get lost in. This and his other songs were nothing short of genius and I don't throw that distinction out there lightly.

This is ONE BEAUTIFUL SONG! It would deserve to be a worldwide famous hit, I am sure it would be if some good singer picked it up. Ray Jessel proves to be a great and creative artist every time it happens that I listen to him. And, being him able to write lyrics and music like this, I believe he was also a great person in life. Sorry I learned too late about him. R.I.P.

I kept waiting for something funny but it never came. What a delightful suprise. I know that we've all been through something like at least once in our lives. Songs like this help us put those overwhelming feelings into words that we can use to release the pain, or the sorrow, and regret. Ah what could have been....

I listen to your first AGT performance every so often and laugh as hard as I did the first time I saw it. I found this song today and cried my eyes out. I cried over the beauty of your song and also for the heartfelt way you performed it. Thank you Ray for your gift to us and may you always be performing in heaven.
