Snakes in Thailand - Herping Phetchaburi, Thailand - Part 1

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

At the beginning of November this year I returned with my friends to an area of forest near Kaeng Krachan National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกระจาน) in Phetchaburi Province and spent several happy hours finding and filming a variety of wildlife. We found about 20 snakes, belonging to six different species, as well as a whole bunch of other interesting stuff. I've split the clip into two parts. In the second part you will see more white-lipped pit vipers, green cat snakes, and a lovely common wolf snake.

Thanks for the amazing video! They react so calmly when you go close to them, I never knew how docile snakes could be. Or how fascinating caterpillars seem to be, or how absolutely enormous stick insects were! Keep up the great work ^^ (I’m absolutely in love with the keeled slug-snake...)

Thanks for your comments Parmida. We try to move slowly and deliberately around the snakes. Having spent so much time looking for them, we don't want them to get frightened and shoot away before we can film them. As for the insects etc... it's just amazing what you can find in good forest when you really take your time, especially if you get the chance to go at night.

Of course in the daytime it is very different. This is a trail on the side of the park, that really comes alive after dark.

Thanks for your kind comment. This is actually outside the main part of the park. The trail that leads to Nahm Tok Pha Nahm Yod. Happy herping.
