Man I wish we got monitor lizards in the garden where I live. The last thing I'd do is call someone to get rid of them!

Me too, me too. What a gorgeous creature. I'd love to one or two or three ... they would not survive the winter here, though. We do have small lizards (Zootoca vivipara), they hibernate the winter.
Lol the pool is actually lovely. Nice eye there Mrs Arnold!

Those monitor lizards are absolutely beautiful, love the way it bit the glove and didn’t let go.. imagine if it was biting flesh. Ouch!!!! I was hoping to see the lizard being released. Love the little house snake. Great job as always. Really enjoy this channel. 🦎🐍😊

On a completely different note , on the news we heard an eight year old girl was rushed to hospital after being bitten by an adder at a beauty spot on Easter weekend, she got anti venom and is recovering, they then went on to say about 100 bites happen a year , but we haven’t heard of any in Scotland for quite a while

I have had a few Nile monitors pass through here from the reptile trade and I have yet to see one tame down. They don’t do human interaction very well at all, even after being long time captives.

Yeah. Funny how they just don't ever settle, yet other Veranids become puppy dog tame.
hello Jason the Snake Man, is there a reason you prefer to use bags over Plastic containers? just for space saving? anyway, keep up the sweet vids! ✌️
@jasonarnold-snakeman
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. Yes, space saving is the main factor. But the animals also stay cooler in bags than in containers. Plus if I happen to get into an accident, containers can crack open or lids can pop off. Bags will be a bit more forgiving.
@YachtRockFiend
2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonarnold-snakeman ahah! Never thought about what could happen in case of accident! Knock on wood! Yeah if you were trapped in there with a few mambas, waiting for the jaws of life to get you out... Bad situation!
I missed yesterdays video but I just catched up on it. Darn, it was devastating to watch that injured water monitor. It was surprisingly calm and most of the time that's not really a positive sign. Also the way it was letting his head hang down when you carried it to your car made me worry. I really hope he will get through this and get well again. Please keep us updated on that one. Now I've watched this video and that one showed exactly the behaviour I know so well. Just bite and don't let go off. Pretty much the same as Tokay geckos do. A former friend of mine, who owned a reptile store, had the saying: "How do you ship a Tokay? - With the glove it's chewing on....". It happened more than once that he had to do so. One time the wife of a new owner called him on the phone, telling the Tokay had let go off the glove but now is chewing on the hand of her husband and she was asking what she should do to make the Tokay let go off the hand. And my friend only replied: "Offer a glove, it's used to that...". We laughed so much. That family with the Brown House Snake really was great. They tried to help as much as possible, bringing themselves in danger if this would have turned out to really be a Mamba. But when they learned it's only a harmless House Snake and they said they have a bush at their house where the snake can be released that was a great gesture. Most people don't want snakes near their homes no matter whether it's a harmless snake or not. Great people. Thanks for letting us be part of your life.

Hi Gavin. Yes it's doing okay. Eyes are looking a bit better I think. Been putting drops daily. Monitor is starting to open them, but I can't yet make out if it's the actual eyes or just the nictitating membrane that is damaged.

There's a channel here on YT called Kamp Kenan & he has a huge Asian water monitor, hes called Slinky & hes puppy dog tame, living outside in an enclosure that's like a monitor mansion, i wish i could do something similar, but i live in Scotland! (He's in Florida so he gets away with it) I wouldn't feel right about keeping such an epic animal indoors all the time, plus my house isn't big enough to give it the space it deserves.

Is this a family business? It’s nice seeing your wife with you! And daughter too! When you don’t know what type of snake it is aren’t you worried about your fingers just reaching in and grabbing at stuff? Like it might strike out at you? I know it makes me a nervous wreck! Also why do people not put their dogs away?
@jasonarnold-snakeman

No, not a family business. My wife was recently retrenched from her job due to covid. So she now gets the chance to come out with me pretty often. I wouldn't say I'm scared putting my hands in places to move things, but I am cautious. I won't usually put my hand into any spaces where I can't see. I always have visual of where my hands are going. But from the camera angle, it may look dicey at times👍🏻 And yes, I have absolutely no idea why dogs aren't put away when strangers are coming. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🙈🙈
