Well said, he made a ton of putts Sunday. He missed one putt that he should’ve made on 16. Aside from that it was a great day on the greens imho

Agreed, and trust me I'm no Rory fanboy/apologist. I'd say his chip on 18 was much worse than the putt because he pulled it and left himself with a vicious downhill left to right putt on a fast green.....whereas Bry58n left himself an uphill straight-ish putt to win. Big difference. Bry58n also missed a tiny putt himself on the back 9, and was horrible with the driver on the front 9, so the choking was pretty even between the 2 players lol.

I agree with your assessment. The brake on the 5th hole i think . the par 5 was just not fair. making bogey on that par 5 with the ball almost being very close to the hole was stupid. It would be better to play that short of the green.

How much did Rory's miss on 16 influence his stroke on 18? That is a topic which is not discussed enough when you are trying to "unpack" Rory's putting collapse.

'Putting collapse' Rory missed 2 short putts and Bry58n missed 1 short putt. The Rory short putt on 18 was vicious as well, fast downhill left to right where you have to aim outside the hole.....not easy, players were missing that one all day on the coverage, I'd say his chip on 18 was worse that the putt because he pulled the chip and put himself in a bad position, unlike Bry58n who left himself a straight uphill putt. Bry58n just coped with the pressure better in the end, but he choked away a 3 shot lead himself which no one talks about lol, Rory only had the lead for 15 minutes during a 5 hour round.

He needs a proper caddy. No way a good caddy would have let him hit a 7 iron on the par 3 15th.

How funny is this. Smylie went into commentating cause his golf game could not earn him a living any longer. And now he is talking about Rory who is making a very comfortable living with his golf game😂😂😂

When Rory won all those majors he had a caddy that could read greens. Rory can’t read greens nor does his caddie.

Rory's putting has improved a lot over the past 4-5 years. He was burning the edges at St Andrews on the final day, but the 2 Cam's played a blinder which you can't blame Rory or his caddy for and you can't blame the caddy either for Pinehurst or Bry58n playing out of his skin for 3 days and then out of the bunker on 18.

Maybe he just choked ?
