And between that and saving anywhere plus buying a continue with Macca or Play Coins even if you get extremely shitty deaths it's not as punishing for something outside your control

@Flaming Gilgamesh Not true for Medusa in IV - Gun resistance is hardly available, no demons have immunity to Elec, and Bind ailment is extremely crippling. It's an RNG fest, plain and simple

I love how the seemingly lighthearted "uh oh" at the start turned into a very personal sounding "fuck you" at the end. 😂

As someone who just got the TDE ending last Sunday, I can tell that the game is like this.

It makes it clear that screwing around will definitely get you killed and sometimes, to be blunt, perfect action will still result in you dying. Sets the tone of the path ahead of you on a meta level. You didn't sign up for the intended experience. You signed up for hard. SMT3 gives you hard.

The whole personality is the mentality of somebody so deep in the Mainline Megami Tensei rabbithole or in the case of this video: Kalpahole. People go in expecting a game like Persona after having played P3-P5 as their first taste of Atlus' games and then come out of it all as hardened RPG veterans to learn to expect bullshit deaths and prepare far more accordingly.

Great work! Lucifer gave you a tough time. You're finished with him now of course, but my best strategy was to balance out buffs and debuffs. Because Lucifer will often dekaja + High King or dekunda + High King (or root of evil which is dekaja too). But he can't ever do dekaja + dekunda + High King, there's no move that can remove buffs and debuffs at once like Silent Prayer in later games. The issue is that in Nocturne you have Debilitate to debuff everything on the boss, but you don't have Luster Candy in this game to buff everything at once, so I'd usually do Rakukaja to raise defense to survive Lucifer. It's like you said, this version of him is harder, he has 100k+ HP instead of 65k because he'll do a scripted mediarahan once during the battle. Great work beating hard mode.

The best way for the buff/debuff is +2 for your team and -2 for the enemies, but some bosses will still use it cause the randomized AI or designed to do use it when there's any like Metatron

I love people playing SMT 3 makes all my deaths in previous runs feel less tragic. SMT 3 where God is dead, we killed him and then we instantly get KOED by random bullshit. Still my favorite game from Atlus.

I remember how annoying it was that Metatron is such a pain in the ass to fuse for (costs a fuckton of Macca and is time consuming), but Michael, who was one of the demons needed to get Metatron, was low-key better than Metatron is as a party member.

@@kichiroumitsurugi4363 actually, they retained lucifer's hard mode behavior on the Maniax mode, none of that insane shit happens if you have the Dante DLC its pretty impressive, not only did Atlus mostly retain the balancing of Maniax and Chronicle, but on PC you can also experience Nocturne Vanilla (no fiends or TDE)

As someone who is playing the PS2 variant on Hard Mode all the way to Diet Building and Metatron, I can say that this game definitely pulls some bullshit.

Petrification effect, if a target is petrified, striking it will instantly kill it. Same like freeze, all defenses are nullified when turned to stone like how a frozen individual will always assure crits when hit.
