Going with a receded look is usually the right decision. This result is nice.

I actually kinda prefer the aesthetic effect after the 1st session. It fills in and eliminates the "horse shoe" look, whilst not being as noticeable or clinical as the later sessions. Anyone else with me?

Thanks for your comment. SMP is a layering process and therefore 3-4 sessions are necessary to get the best results. After each session the results are amazing, and is very important to let the skin heal and the pigment settle into the skin before we add another layer.

Totally agree. SMP people continue to tell me the 3 sessions are necessary, but I still don’t see the need or the “necessary” part, specially when it clearly looks like after the 3rd session is kind over done and the 1st is the most natural.

@@Sam1990s yup, I guess some people - chris eubank for example - can pull off the strong, dark, prominent hairline that comes with multiple-session SMP. I think it tends to look better on darker complexions/skin tones/hair colour. But for my fairer hair, I'd only consider getting one or two sessions of SMP... to give the effect of a soft fuzz, and mainly to look better from behind.

@@GLOKD 100%. What I find most annoying though, is not hearing this take from people offering SMP. Not sure if it's because they charge per session so it is a better trade to require the 3 sessions. In which case that's just shady / unprofessional.

I'm considering getting scalp micro pigmentation because I was diagnosed with CCCA, which is a type of scarring alopecia, and I want to wear my hair very low cut. I'm on the fence and concerned about what chemicals are actually in the ink and how deep the needle goes. I also wonder why it lasts only 2-3 years. I've seen other videos that say 7 years. Are there any adverse reactions? Who shouldn't get scalp micro pigmentation? Again, I'm interested but concerned.

Hi Brandi, thanks for your interest and your question. Most SMP pigments are comprised of water, isopropyl alcohol, black carbon. Scalp Micropigmentation has been around for more than 10 years and is a safe procedure. The needle goes about 2mm into the dermis. Scalp Micropigmentation is safe, guaranteed and non-invasive. SMP could last up to 7 years, but it could look faded after a few years. It’s recommended to get a touch up after 2-3 years to keep the SMP looking fresh.

This is the first one that actually looks realistic. Good job there...

Thanks for your question Maria. After each session it is very important that the person do not sweat excessively during the healing period. This includes no exercise, no saunas, no steam rooms, no jacuzzis… this is to ensure the best outcome of the treatment. For people that have a workout routine is a little challenging but it will be worth it at the end.

I just had my first session if SMP and I am a little disappointed with the results, I know it’s only the first session and the next session adds density but I was hoping to see a little more from the first one

Hi Grant, no reason to be disappointed. SMP is a layering process and you must be patient. The first session is always light but you should see more of a change after second session. I hope you did your research and found a good artist. If you did, then just trust the process.

This is a great question. When the hair is shaved down is not white as the hair strand. In fact, the hair at the root is shades of gray and that’s what we match. If you have gray or white hair and want to do SMP to add density to existing hair; then the end result will be a salt and pepper look where the root is darker.

I got this done like 5 years ago, they wanted me to have 3 sessions, I only went for two, so far so good 🤗 Great choice I really hated the horseshoe look, but luckily for me, I didn't it before I ever shaved my head, So no one ever saw me bald as I did it while I still had thin hair..

Scalp micropigmentation only looks good when the hair is buzzed down. If the client has thinning hair all over the scalp, then we can do the scalp micropigmentation to add density to existing hair. Two different techniques.

This is a very good question. When you shave your hair down to a zero, the hair stubble will be a shade of gray. The hair at the root is not the same color as the hair strand. Gray or white hair does not appear as gray because the root hair itself is much darker than the white strand. Therefore, if you want the buzz look, this will not affect at all. If you are looking to get SMP for density on gray hair, then it will give you the salt and pepper look.

Mate, I'm pleased you're happy but how can colouring in the top of the head change someone's life ? It seems odd that the the difference between skin on the top with shaved sides Vs SMP with shaved sides makes THE difference. If a woman would only be with me because I had tattoed in my head skin then is she worth bothering about in the first place ?

Thanks for your comment. Scalp micropigmentation is not coloring the scalp. Scalp micropigmentation is a replica of the hair follicle to create an optical Illusion of growing hair. If he did it 10 years ago with a natural hairline, he WONT look the same age today with a SMP hairline. Same as wearing a cap or hat, a picture at 25 y/o and a pic at 35 y/o with the same hat or cap, the age difference will be noticeable

Problem i see with this, is that it is really high maintenance. I mean, u gave to shave your head every 2-3 days, if not, the real hair will grow more than the fake zone, and will look funny.

Yes you are right, do have to shave every other day in order for the SMP to blend nicely. Shaving should only take you 10 minutes of your day. For people that are suffering from hairloss, the benefits of SMP are much greater than having to shave every other day.

Scalp micropigmentation when done right, looks very natural. Most clients are always nervous in the beginning, but after the first session they are very happy. It is very important that the client is 100% sure about getting SMP because it’s permanent. The only way to remove SMP is with laser and it’s painful and costly. My advice is to do your research and find an professional SMP artist.

One critical feature that many deal with is having a very large forehead, high hairline or no hairline at all. This can give an undesirable appearance of aging, divert attention from one’s otherwise balanced facial features and weigh heavily on a person’s self-esteem.

@@georgesmith3022 Not at all... the illusion looks so much better than the actual bald look... someone somehow noticing it versus someone staring at your horseshoe are completely different. I've got SMP done and it's the best decision ever. I tell people I got it done. It'll be as common and accepted as women wearing makeup in the future, and like other cosmetic procedures like plastic surgery. The non-invasive nature of SMP makes it all the more pleasant.
