Many of us didn't see this as a country song. We thought of it more as R&B sung by a country singer. Kenny Rogers was well respected because he was a great singer. Kenny's voice was like velvet. He made this song a hit. Beautiful, just beautiful.

There's a lot of similarity between soul and country. Both genres are full of stories of heartbreak, love, loss, victory, and defeat. They get stereotyped as "white" music and "black" music, but truthfully we all have a lot more in common than many people would admit.

He still sounds the same. In fact his voice is a bit more mellower: "I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in I found my mind in a brown paper bag within I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high I tore my mind on a jagged sky I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in" 😊

Who knew? We did! You should watch the version where he is singing with Lionel! And his duets with several ladies are beautiful as well! Check those out. I really live You Can't Make Old Friends with Dolly Parton.

All the ladies were in love with Kenny back in the day! My baby sitter had the “Lady” blue jeans that he put out and I thought she was so cool! I love Kenny’s music so much! I played the heck out of my parents 8-tracks! 😂
