👐🏼 Thank you for sharing your gift of alto 🎷Dr. SaxLove. To Jose M may a speedy and total recovery be yours. My Eldest Daughter used to play the alto sax in middle and HS, with marching band. She stopped playing because the HS would not allow her to participate in both the marching band & take jazz classes though I offered to pay for private lessons for jazz. I miss the days of her telling me, sometimes at the last minute, that she needed some reeds. Somehow, thank goodness as her Mother I always made sure she had enough reeds. In her adult years she bought a 🎸 , but that I know of she never played it, could be that she has a really busy schedule, but her daughter taught herself to play that 🎸 as well as she is a self taught keyboardist, writes & sings along with reads her own poetry at times❗❗❗ ~~~👍🏽🎷👍🏽~~~A Retired RN

Beautiful tribute to Marvin’s beautiful soul. 😍🌈
Hey Dr.! I may have shared this tidbit with you before, but listening to this smooth vibe you put together I think it bears repeating! It was Christmas morning when I was 16, I found this under the tree from my older brother who wrote the Entertainment Section for the Savannah Morning News and Evening Press. He said, "Here you go young brother! See what your brothers think of this album!" What? Are kidding me? What will they think? Man I was the talk of the town! The lone white boy who was down with Marvin! I was large! My street rep grew overnight! Fast forward some 20 years! I was in the USAF and living in Europe. One night on a road trip through Belgium I struck up a conversation with some locals of Ostend, Belgium where Marvin had been living for a number of years before his demise in the USA. So me, being a smooth white guy, talked my way into this night club where Marvin was playing a small gig. Are kidding me? I got to talk to Marvin about his music and his life journey. He really dug that this old white dude was down with his music way back in 1972. You talking about one cool cat! He reminded me of George Gervin and Kareem of the NBA! So intellectually smooth and deep way past their years! So that gets me to you, Dr. SaxLove! You are always so gracious to holler back and spread your love! I really dig you for that! Everywhere I wear one of your T-shirts down here on the Gulf Coast I let them know that not are you smooth, but you are real people! That is so important today! We have too much plastic out there! So you keep doing you! And I will keep testifying of your love! Peace out!
Great music to hit the workout room to. God Bless,, stay healthy and safe
Just what my day needed...Smooth and satisfying jazz
I want to fly beyond the skies, the music 🎶 ohh!!

Your boy on the Gulf Coast checking in to see WHAT'S GOING ON!!!! A usual, you vibing some serious tunes! I was given this all time favorite album when I was 16 on Christmas Day by my oldest brother who wrote music reviews for the Savannah Morning News back in the day. As such he was always given free albums to preview and write his reaction. When I opened this album I about near lost my young mind! Along with it he also gave me the brand new Temptations album with Papa Was a Rolling Stone! So my brother says to me, "You hang with all the brothers, so who better to tell me what's going on with this album!" Man when the word got out that this little skinny white boy had this album I had a serious Soul Train running in and out of my house for days! In closing, one of my most cherished memories is when I lived in Europe back in the 80's (before the Wall fell). At that time Marvin was living on the Coast of Belgium and I had the immense fortune to hear him in a very intimate concert at a local jazz club. He did rare performances then and I just happened to be crossing the Channel where he lived and I found out about the venue from some locals. They were all excited that they were bringing a "real" American Marvin Gaye fan with them! Are you kidding? Free tickets to see Marvin? Man, please! I will never forget that night! RIP Marvin! Dr. Sax, thanks so much for putting this smooth compilation together! Every time I have a "Jazztini" I think of you! And yes! I make it your way or else it wouldn't be a Jazz-tini, now would it?
@DrSaxLove
5 жыл бұрын
Van, my man on the Gulf Coast, always a treat to read your words. Wow, so much to digest here... first, that you were a skinny white boy diggin' on "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" with a bunch of your black brothers and sisters - very cool, man, and an excellent education no doubt. Second, that you got to sit only feet away from the iconic and colossal Marvin on the coast of Belgium no less - amazing! Third, that your still sippin' my favorite drink, the Saxtini... well, that's just remarkable... and a nice buzz, too, right? Hey, much love to you, brother, from frozen Detroit! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to me - I appreciate you! 🙏

@@DrSaxLove Well, leave it to me to screw it up, right? I have the mix down cold, but telling the acculturated brothers down here, "Dr. SaxLove calls this drink his 'Jazz-tini'" is just wrong! My bad! But my heart was in the right place -- loving your music! So it seems that I will have to go back to my boring version and call it "Jazztini" and keep the Saxtini for special occasions -- like Thursday nights or Tuesdays! Hell! Any night is special when one is listening to your vibes and sippin' on some 007 cold ass brew! LOL!!!
