“I Want to Know What Love Is” is the song with everything- including a gospel choir. Lou Gramm said the song practically wrote itself after he had a string of failed relationships. And the gospel choir made sense because he felt the song was spiritual in nature. Have to watch the official video though.

I wish we could all talk about race without being accused of racism. There are some differences between races, although that's mostly cultural, it doesn't mean one race is superior/inferior to the other - just different. I knew exactly what you meant about it sounding like "black music". Keep on doing what you're doing. :)

Met Lou Gramm in the 90's when he was in a 70's band collaboration performance at Resorts in Atlantic City, very nice guy & great singer... I'm sure I turned 50 shades of red when he singled me out to sing to though, he did find me after the show to make sure I had survived! LOL Still have the inflatable dog he and the others autographed after the show for me (if I dug it out I could tell you who else was there that night but I'm being lazy).

This was from the Double Vision album (1977), you can hear the influence of contemporary groups in this song, especially the synthesizer use to emulate voices like 10CC's big hit two years earlier, "I'm not in love". The New tech of the synthesizer was just being developed.

I'm 63 years old, white, and been a musician since I was six. In no way, means, shape or form would I consider your comment racist. Soul has no color, music has no color. Funky is funky, Soul is soul and so on and so on. I've played with allot of musicians over the years (black, white, mexican, and asian) and none of them were ever racist or afraid to speak with a free tongue. Everybody needs to be that way IMO.

This song, "Urgent", and "Juke Box Hero" are all on the same album. But another great song, "Break It Up", got overshadowed a bit on the album by those songs. It really shows off Lou Gramm's vocal range, and no KZreadrs ever react to it.

Not racist at all. That's just how it be. I've heard black folk sounding white and white folk sounding black. Its all good.
